Ok thanks for that. One other question though. How and when did Garchomp become Suspect? Speaking of which, how did a "suspect" metagame become the way to tackle these sorts of problems?

If you change the time on your DS clock, I know that the Pal Park stops working for 24 hours. Does this affect other things as well? Because for some reason, I can't get any of the Joggers or Policemen to battle me, even though I tried changing the DS to the correct time of day/night...

Drag the sprite from the page to an empty tab.
Or alternatively go here.

MagicMaster87: The clock may have to roll over on its own for that to work. Set your clock for like 11:58 PM, then wait a few minutes then try it.
Edit: or a few minutes before the time you need.

Just the theorizing of pokemon without actually testing such as SpecsDugtrio was Theorymon counter to Garchomp.

Be careful about accusing someone of theorymon though. Unless, you are stalking them, you can't really be certain that they haven't playtested their ideas. The person in question could could have playtested with a string of good luck or bad luck that influenced their ideas. Every so often, someone accuses someone else of theorymon, then the accused rebuttals with "F-U. I did test it out." I remember that everything starts as a theory, so theorymon doesn't irk me as much as it does other people.

As the devil's advocate, how do you know that SpecsDugtrio is a theorymon counter to Garchomp? Have you actually seen or used SpecsDugtrio yourself before? What's on paper (damage calcs) doesn't necessarily translate into the playing field, based on the rules of theorymon. You should provide several thorough battle logs about the uselessness of SpecsDugtrio against Garchomp. Otherwise, you are theorymoning that SpecsDugtrio is a theorymon. Don't flame me; this is sarcasm.

Do you see how tossing aroung theorymon can get muddled and pointless? I don't need to playtest to know that Surskit isn't useful to counter a Gyarados, despite taking neutral or resisted hits from everything but Stone Edge. However, I would be guilty of theorymon, because I have never actually used the peewee Surskit to take the atrocious Gyarados hit. For the most part, theorymon is generally used to say that an idea is not viable. "Theorymon" is just a cutesier yet more astute way of telling someone that he or she is an idiot.

When breeding, are IVs passed down from solely the male parent, or do they come from both?

Also, is there a hold item that prevents Pokemon from learning level up moves while in the Day Care?

three IVs in total are randomly passed from both parents.

and no, not that i'm aware of. it's best to use a pokemon that's already learned all it's level up moves.

or have plenty of heartscales to relearn the moves (unless they're egg moves of course...then you're just SOL).

Ok thanks for that. One other question though. How and when did Garchomp become Suspect? Speaking of which, how did a "suspect" metagame become the way to tackle these sorts of problems?

I think Garchomp was banned in the middle of Sep 2008... Although they had been testing him for yonks before that. As for why... say the word 'Garchomp' in Stark and you'll either get 'shut up' or 'don't start that again, we don't want to hear about it' or a thousand different reasons why Garchomp was banned (I've tried it).

Some say it's because he was overpowered, some say it's because he was overcentralising the metagame, and DougJustDoug (and therefore the current majority of Smogon) says it's because his usage did not match his versatility, or something. Result, nobody really agrees. My opinion, of course, is not valid since I failed to reach the required rating and all that.

I think a "suspect" metagame became the favoured way to deal with these problems since it allows most of the community to experience what the new metagame would be like first-hand, and also to exclude those who had little experience with the suspect metagame but plenty in the standard metagame, so as to only include those who know what they're talking about.

Does CBArbok need Pursuit still with Aqua Tail, Seed Bomnb, and Gunk Shot at it's disposal?

Depends on what you need to hit if Rotom, Missy, and Froslass are covered already then most likely no, because you still will only be scratching Hypno and Claydol the Hypno is harder by Gunk Shot, while Claydol is hit harder by Aqua Tail or Seed Bomb.

Yes.

(Now for my own question)

This seems like a fairly obvious question, but does Castform get the SpD boost of being a Rock-Type when in Sandstorm?
rockformavxo2.png

Totally. Except for not having a Rock form, so no. Sorry.

Another question since I'm using Magnemite(Specs) and Trapinch who are both trappers I would like to know if I switch in Magnemite or Trapinch in the same turn they plan to switch out one of their pokes does their switch fail or does it complete?
