Wow. I oficially hate Platinum's breeding engine with a passion. Now this should probably go in the Discuss my Pokemon thread, but i've tried saving in front of the Daycare man, who has an Adamant Female Bagon waiting for me. Both parents have a 31 Attack IV, and one has a 31 Speed IV. I've been trying since mid-afternoon yesterday. How many have I hatched with a 31 in both? NONE. I mean, trying to breed when I only have 1 31 between both parents is one thing (especially considering in Pearl i've gotten some very lucky pulls in situations like that), but this? Come on, Gamefreak...your game is still awesome, but why must you make us suffer through crap like this?

What should I do? Try breeding in Pearl? Or, god forbid, if I absolutely must, go out, buy an Action Replay (or whatever I have to) and turn the quick hatch cheat on? I'm getting really fucking tired of this, and I want a good Bagon that I can make a good physical one, 'cause Choice Band Salamence is plain out badass.

Oh, and for that matter, is using the quick hatch cheat frowned upon? I've never cheated to get ANYTHING in Diamond or Pearl before, except Arceus, Shaymin and Darkrai. =|

Hey, if you'll believe a guy with ~10 posts, the following cheats, from my knowledge, are generally allowed and are what most people use to breed in Smogon

- IV Check
- Fast Hatch
- Fast Egg
- Cloning
- Whatever item/money cheat
- VS Seeker (for EV training?)

So basically, as long as you don't hack your pokemon and your pokemon is legitly bred with legit parents then it should be fine.

If you can afford an AR, then go ahead and get one, it will help your breeding a lot. But not getting a double flawless Bagon with those parents and after that much SR'ing is probably just bad luck though.

Encore vs. Rest and Sleep Talk

Hey, what will happen if my opponent uses Rest and I use Encore?

What would happen if they used Rest last turn, then they use Sleep Talk and I hit them with Encore now?
 
In the first case, they would sleep for 2 turns then use rest. In the second they would continue using sleep talk until the encore wears off/they switch out.
 
Does Explosion do 75% damage in doubles?
Because I really need to know if I should adjust the scores I get from damage calculators when doing analysis on my VGC team.

As for the above, I'm pretty sure they're being tested on Shoddy's suspect ladder to see what happens when they're allowed amongst OU stuff. And when they're done being tested they'll either remain uber or be moved into OU depending on what happened.

The three pokemons you mentioned have all been voted uber and will stay in that tier until stage 3.

Kinda. Overall, battles are faster; I don't think this is because of faster battle animations, but less waiting time in between them. For example, in D/P, when a trainer sends out a Pokémon, it takes 2-3 seconds to come out of the Poké Ball. In Platinum, it's pretty much instant, which makes the battles seem much faster.
 
I'm not exactly sure if this qualifies as a simple question but I've been having trouble locating the answer so please bare with me :) I was wondering about the passing on of nature's with the everstone. Now I know there's *this* rule: If you breed in DP, it is possible that Everstone won't work. This happens if you breed two Pokémon that originate from different language versions, for example an English Emerald Ditto with a Japanese Diamond Chimchar. but I was wondering, if I trade a japanese pokemon, and then breed it with my usa one, and *then* use that offspring to breed again, is it considered USA because I bred it? Or is it somehow affected by the same problem?

Yes, it will be considered originated from the US Game.

After we finish all testing, we'll move onto 'stage 3,' which dumps all of the suspects into OU together, even if they were voted uber. This does not mean they'll go OU for sure, but they do have a second chance.
 
If i were to use trick on dpp (not shoddy), and my pokemon tricked choice scarf onto an enemy pokemon, before it made its move, will that pokemon be locked in that move, or will they have the option to change moves then be locked in the next move they use?

They'll be locked into that initial move.

I got a nice Scyther, which I intend to use as a Scizor.
If I want to EV train him, then should I evolve him into a Scizor first and Ev train him, or should I EV train him first and evolve it into a Scizor second?

It's the same, it will have the same stats when you'll evolve it even if you EV train it as a Scyther.

Wait until the topic is created on the Tournaments board in the coming weeks for more information. However, it says there are 12 teams, so I have a feeling the regions are already set (just looking for players), so you shouldn't be set on creating a freelance team or anything like that.

I am looking for all the Battle Brains and all their pokemon with movesets, Ev's, nature, held item, IV's. Any idea on where I could get a list like that?

Any help is much appreciated.

EDIT: Actually, thanks to Carl, I found out how to locate each pokemon of the Battle Brain. This brings up another question though.

Under EV Spread it'll say something like Att/Def, does that mean it has 252 in Attack and 252 in Def?
And as for IV's, are they all flawless?

For the EVs, take 510 and split it for the stats given. So yes, for Atk/Def it would be 255 and 255 which is essentially 252Atk and 252Def. As for IVs, they appear to be somewhat random (don't quote me on this), but like blackjack where you assume the dealer has a 10 point card face down it's just safe to assume it's all 31 even though they probably aren't.
