I was directed here after starting a new thread to ask my question:

I've been thinking of making a UU team, and realized that i don't know where to start. I know there are lots of interconnected components to a good team- walls, supporters and status inflictors, sweepers, etc. Which of these components do players usually build teams around?

Well, I don't know about UU because I don't play it, but in my experience people usually tend to base their teams around a sweeper.

Of course this depends on what you want your team to be: stall, balanced or offensive. All of these play very differently. For example, if you are making a stall team, it needs to rely on having strong defensive pokemon, that cover each others weakness's and entry hazards. If you are building a full out offensive team, then you would set up a strategy where all of your pokemon are capable of doing heavy damage, and relying on brute strength(and speed) to crush your opponents.

Finally of you're building a balanced team, which is sort of a mix between the two, you need pokemon that can sweep and pokemon that can defend well. Although you can't just combine 3 sweepers from an offensve team and 3 walls from a stall team.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm new.

I just started here, and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on breeding, because I'm eager to become a member of the smogon trading community. I've looked online, but all of the sites I've found just seem too overwhelming.

Well, get a ditto of every nature, so that breeding for an online team is easier to get the right natures.

The breeding guide is everything you need to know to become a "professional" breeder. Also, welcome to Smogon!

I know Rotom forms dont work over wi-fi but if you just use the wireless connection against a friend will the Rotom forms stay in their form or revert to the normal form?

Directly from the OP (that no one reads):

The Rotom-formes are not currently usable over wifi, only local wireless (link battles). Same goes for Giratina-O & Shaymin-S.

in general (I know it depends on the rest of your team) which MixMence set is generally the better option?

Classic MixMence @ Life Orb
80 Atk / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
~ Draco Meteor
~ Fire Blast
~ Brick Break
~ Roost / Crunch

New MixMence @ Life Orb
84 Atk / 216 SpA / 208 Spe
~ Draco Meteor
~ Earthquake
~ Fire Blast
~ Outrage/Roost

any help is much appreciated :)

Honestly I would recommend the "Classic" MixMence over the New One. Brick Break and Crunch allow it to beat walls like Cresselia and Blissey without resorting to Outrage. Outrage is really not a great idea if you can help it - if the opponent predicts it, he can switch in a Steel type and laugh as he sponges the damage easily and picks up several free turns to either eliminate Salamence or set up Entry Hazards or things like Swords Dance.

Crunch will not beat cress unless cress doesn't have ice beam.

Classic mence is a better wall breaker but the new mence poses more power but less survivability.

I have a question about hidden power IVs. I know it was on the OP, but I found conflicting information.

I am trying to breed HP ice onto a modest pokemon, and the first guide I found was this: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20649 which led me to believe I could have a perfect (31 in all IVs) pokemon with HP ice. However, I looked here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13601 and found that the flawless spread wasn't listed. This is very confusing to me. So, what I'm wondering is: Is it possible to have perfect 31/31/31/31/31/31 IVs with HP ice?

No it is not. Hidden Power will always be a 70 Base Power Dark move with perfect IVs.

Question:

I was relocated here for help with my issue.

I am having trouble with competitive double battle format. and will be headed to the showdown in a week from today, being with the showdown rules im not to sure of a team or theme yet i do have a week to make it i was thinking of a sand storm team but dont know if that will really cut it.

i dont know what to anticipate the meta to be like i was told rain, trick room and other stuff like that

i'm not sure of the item or move sets yet but was thinking of a azelf(exploder), dusknoir start with the rest being Garchomp swords dance some people say zapdos is beatstly but i dont know too sure i'm thinkering ideas of like gengar and swampert as well but dont know too sure. could someone pm me with some idea or somethign constructive?

I serach a Spinner for my Team which is simultaneously a Heal Beller (or a Pokemon with Aroma theraphie).
It is important for my Team, because I didn`t have any spinner or Heal Beller and mence is my finisher.

Only Smeargle learns both Rapid Spin and Heal Bell/Aromatherapy. Just run a spinner and don't let Salamence get statused.

What Haunter said, and the new formes are usable only in platinum-to-platinum matches. They are not programmed into DP, thus reverting to normal forme in platinum-DP matches.
