List Search

I'm looking for a couple of lists but can't seem to find them on site. Can anyone help?

  • Common/Uncommon TR Leads (Doubles)
  • Common/Uncommon RD Leads (Doubles)
  • Speedy Exploders
Thanks!

I have a question- why is there a foreign language speaking guy in Veilstone? I'm pretty sure they programmed it on purpose.

Because he was speaking English in the Japanese version, so they switched it in the English version to keep his consistency as being a foreigner. As for why they put him there in the first place, most likely no reason in particular. Probably something they thought it would be interesting to do or something.

RD leads- ludicolo, vaporeon, jolteon, kingdra

speedy exploders- gengar, electrode and azelf are the only pokemon with at least 100 base speed that learn explosion, there is also scarf metagross though

Wow thank you!

If anyone else has anything a bit more thorough could you PM me so as not to take up gobs of space here?

Questions about sleep clause:

If I have a Cress w/
Rest
Sleep Talk
Psycho Shift
Filler

And one of the opponents Pokes are asleep, am I not allowed to use Sleep Talk when I am asleep because it has a chance of Psycho Shifting Sleep? Or can I still use it, and I'll just have to forfeit if it does indeed cause the opponent to sleep? Or does it not count for sleep clause at all?

Still no answer to this, lol. Is it really that confusing? :x

You can still use sleep talk. I also think it will put the opponent's pokemon to sleep, even breaking sleep clause. (I'm basing this off another arguement with either assist or metronome.)

Well I was talking about wifi, so I know it will put the opponent to sleep (unlike shoddy, which I believe does not allow you to do so), I just needed to know if it technically broke sleep clause.

So I just bred a Jolly Gligar with Hypercutter and 24/31/31/2/30/30 IVs; female. Should I try to continue breeding to improve the HP IV or do you guys think that 24/31/31/2/30/30 is pretty outstanding anyways?

Dang you BRED that!? I'm personally impressed! I love Gligar too! Beef him up, stick a scarf on that thing and KILL EM ALL! ^.6

So my question does not fade into obscurity...

You got me thinking about this, and I've been scouring the net on my lunch break...and I still haven't found anything that would determine when IVs are set.

Again, I assume it's like the other runners; that is, the minute you talk to Oak, the IVs are set and you're SOL if they're no good.

Let us know if you find any better info, I'd love to get some hard data on it (I'm already training up a mean look crobat to make it easier on myself).

UPDATE: It appears that if you were to kill a bird, and then defeat the Elite 4 again, their P/IV values would reset. Again, no actual data here, but that seems to be the consensus.

When are the stats/natures/etc. set for the Legendary Birds in Platinum? Is there any way to influence them?
I'm not sure about influencing them (Platinum RNG abuse might work, but I'm not sure), but as Nolo said, the IVs/nature for them are set right when you first talk to Prof. Oak about them to trigger their appearance. That was confirmed a while ago.

I recall reading somewhere that your SID was what determined those roaming pokemon, or at least Lati@s in R/S/E. I think the question would be then, is SID still the determinant of the legendary birds IVs/natures?

I appreciate you taking the time to try and answer my question. Thank you. ^_^

I kind of assumed that was went the IV's and such are set, yet I was unsure.

As for defeating the birds, I am slightly skeptical, but as you said, this seems to be what everyone thinks.

Thank you for the second opinion. I suppose in the end it is not a big deal, since I can simply use FireRed or LeafGreen to catch them. It just is nice to know if I have any control over the natures to save me some time.

Do the effects of the moves water sport and mud sport last the entire battle? If so do you think that these moves can be useful in competitive play? For instance it can allow for a gyarados or a scizor sweep. What do you guys think?

They last until the Pokemon that used them switches out. And no, they're not really useful, as in addition to that, the Pokemon that learn them are limited, and as a result they're usually just way too situational and not generally worth it.

Is there a comprehensive list of pokemon in the Sinnoh dex that you can catch in D/P but not in Platinum? I had to transfer over a Glameow and level it (just once) to get it and Purugly. Are there others?

What are the odds of a walrein getting 6 quick claws and sheer cold hits at once?

0.0000046656%. Not exactly ideal odds. If, however, you put a Choice Scarf on Walrein for speed and spam Sheer Cold the chances go up to 0.000729%.

Not the best idea, eh?

Iirc, Serebii has a Sinnoh dex that could work. Of course, it's not exactly what you want, but it's closer than what you have.

Sorry, beat you to the answer. (See last page)

Also, quick Q- where do you obtain more PP Up/PP Max? One more- why does a new simple questions thread need to be made every so and then?
