It depends on what you are going for. If you want a Sub<pinch berry> Set, then you want one that is divisible my four, if you want a SubSeeder/SubStall set, you want an HP amount that isn't divisible by four. (I might have got those mixed up) Also, there are sets that run 404 HP (Making 101 HP subs), so that a Blissey S-Toss doesn't break it in 1 Toss, allowing additional attacks.

Then it really dosen't matter that much, unless that one HP is going to let you survive something you are worried about 100% of the time that might have a small chance to kill you if you didn't. It usually only matters for Substitute tricks and sometimes life orb and such. In general, it dosn't make a diffrence.
Also, with 301, if you have Life Orb or a weak to SR you can get hit by them 10 or 4 times respectively and still survive with 1 HP as long as you don't take any other residual damage.
Don't forget that 301 lets you survive 3 seismic tosses.

I don't think it does because I just calculated the standard gengar set with smogon's damage calculator (with the life orb; SpA:182 at level 50, max ivs.) and with serebii.net's iv calculator and it's still saying 182 special attack (level 50, max ivs).

Life Orb increases damage, not stats, and I believe that it's by 1.3.
No, Life Orb increases damage by 1.3. Otherwise you could just use Muscle Band/Wise Glasses and not get the HP loss.
