They say you must have a non-chained Shiny in order to calculate your Secret ID. However, some time ago here on Smogon I read that if you have 4-5 (not sure which number) chained Shinies you can then calculate your Secret ID. Is this true?

I believe the number is 4-8, but yes, its true. I'm not sure how you do it though.

When using Hide/Show tags, like this:
BLAH BLAH BLAH
How do I get it so that instead of the "..." that appears when the text is hidden, you display text (for example, BLAH). Do you insert it in the middle of one of the HTML codes or something?

Could someone give an idea of what a lead Torterra set for OU looks like? I love Torterra keep hearing about how it's a pretty stable lead, but I have no idea what the set might look like =(

Why the hell is The Pokemon Company releasing (through Brady Games) two separate guides for HG/SS at separate times!?

I can only assume it's mainly because of the fact that in Japan, there were at least 3 different guides released for Hg/Ss (I remember one was a Pokémon, the other two were probably based on the regional campaign.) Hopefully, someone'll clarify more in depth on the reason, since I'm not too sure off the top of my head, as well.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could link me to some old threads covering the action at VGC 2009?

The search on this site is impossible. -.-

Thanks.

I have 2 questions about HGSS:

1. There is no item PC in this game, is there?
2. Can a D/P/Pt cart trade with HG/SS as soon as HG/SS gets the Pokédex? If so, does it have to be a Pokémon in the Johto dex?

Thanks!

No idea about the item PC, but you can trade in hg/ss as soon as you reach Cherrygrove, with no restrictions.

No, not until it's released as a non level 100 only event.

I have been operating under the distinct impression that Arceus is allowed though his EV's have to be capped to the max vitamin amount (He has to be the event Arceus to be used). This is for wi-fi, I don't really know about Shoddy.

Unfortunately there was no EV cap mechanic in shoddy, so you won't see Arceus legally on the uber ladder until Shoddy Battle 2.

I don't know the link, but you can still do the search by manually entering the text behind the "search/" in URL address bar "http://www.smogon.com/search/____."

When you typed in the text you're looking to search and pressed enter, you will be asked "Would you like to use Google for search ____ instead?" Click Google, and then you'll be taken to the previously normal search page that usually appear before this recent site maintenance.

P.S. They screwed something up alright. Hehehe. >_>

What could be the best Grass-type for my UU team?
My choices are torterra, sceptile, venusaur and tangrowth.

This is just for coverage. So no specific task.

If it's just for coverage, then you can use the one you like the most. Those Pokemon can serve different roles so if you're looking for a competitive advice, then you need to list the other members of your team and the roles they do serve.
