Really weird thing. I have a Pokemon Diamond file that's several years old. And I've been doing some breeding by biking up and down the Route 209/Solaceon Town pathway. I've been doing this for years without anything interesting happening. However today, two trainers challenged me as I was biking. They've never challenged me over the past two years (since I beat them way back when I was first playing through the game). What on earth is going on?

After a while all trainers will want to re-battle so it is probably just that. Also did you use the vs-seeker?

Which two trainers was it? If it was those two that walk in circles, it is possible that they were never in the right place before.

Nope no VS Seeker. And I've been biking back and forth on the same path for years and today someone standing next to the path decided to get an exclamation mark over his head and battle me. What are the odds that they never spotted me before or something? Anyway, it was very odd.

The guy on the hill is almost impossible to battle randomly, so that is understandable. Weird about the girl at the bottom though.

Would this be an appropriate place to ask for team building advice? I looked around and saw threads similar to what I was going to be asking but they were told that they should post in the right section; which I could not find.

I just got into competitive Pokemon yesterday after playing for about 12 years. I understand EV pretty well but don't know how to start a team. I have one Jolly Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf with a Gyarados ready to be trained but don't know if that's a good idea.

I do apologize if this is the incorrect place to be asking these questions.

This is as good a place as any. It sounds like a reasonable idea to have two similar Pokemon on the same team, so they can weaken counters and enable the other to sweep. However, at this point it really depends on how you like to build teams. Try using a team made by some one else, maybe in the RMT forum to find out how you like to play.

Hi, this seems like a stupid question, but I have been having trouble putting images in my post for my RMT. I tried copying and pasting the images, but that did not seem to work, and then I tried to link to images on websites, however, that did not work either. Can someone help me fix this issue?

Thanks

There is a button at the top of the box where you reply which looks like a mountain. Click it and input the address, or finish the address with [/IMG] and begin it with

When you're posting, there's a small icon that looks like a mountain. Click on that and input the link into it, then it'll pop up.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Ninja'd.

Me again with some questions about teams.

Okay, so I am looking at creating a sandstorm team.

Main question: How many of each would you recommend for a team and which one(s)?
Other pokemon recommendations will be taken into consideration.

I have Tyranitar as the Sand Streamer.

Looking at...

Rhyperior, Scizor, or Magnezone as a Physical Sweeper.

Skarmory, Gliscor, or Regirock as a Wall.

Infernape or Aerodactyl as a Suicide Lead.

And possibly Starmie, Vaporeon, or Suicine to support/counter.

Well if you are looking at the stall component, you probably don't want a suicide lead. Something bulkier, like Metagross or Swampert (I personally prefer Metagross). Then you will want some entry hazards, probably Skarmory or Forretress. You will obviously want a sand streamer, probably Hippowdon, because it has much more staying power. To be honest, you best bet is just to look for other SS teams and try to blunder through, covering weaknesses when you see them: It is how everyone else learnt and you will probably not learn much from someone building a team for you.

Hi, I'm still trying to learn about EV training and I have a question: I have a Sandshrew that I want to EV train to max attack. I also have a Power Bracer. If I give the Power Bracer to another Pokemon and give Sandshrew an Exp. Share, will he gain the same number of EVs per battle?

Also, I need confirmation that holding a Power Bracer, I need to battle 50 Goldeen + 2 Goldeen (without Power Bracer) to gain max attack. Thank you!

Giving the other Pokemon a Power Bracer does not impact on Sandshrew's EVs, even if it holds Exp. Share. In other words, a Pokemon holding Exp. Share always gets the number it would get if it did the battle itself.

Oh :( So I just put Sandshrew (with Power Bracer) in my first slot and then switch out to my stronger Pokemon for faster training? Also, was my computation correct regarding the number of Goldeen I need to battle?

Thanks again!

athenodoros already covered this but i just wanted to point out that sentrets are more common and are found at lower levels then goldeen so hes my personal choice for attack, just saying

Both yes.

Quick but easy question:

Do hex values matter for a Pokemon? All I ever touch all PID/IV's on a Pokemon if I ever see the need for modifying a wild Pokemon on Pokesav.

hex values only affect legality checkers. They need to have certain values, but if you only touch the PID then you should be fine.
