Yeah, you can battle 6 vs 6 with a friend, and enforce a bunch of other cool rules like Sleep Clause and Freeze Clause.
To set the rules, go to "free battle" and act as if you were to battle, and eventually it will ask you if the rules are ok. Click on the Rules (which should say "Everything Goes") and from there you can change rules, for both Free Battles and WiFi Friend Battles.
Roar doesn't affect Pokemon with Soundproof, that's the only difference I think.

Yup that's right, they don't work on Pokes with Suction Cups.

How crucial is Pursuit on CBCross? Does Night Slash suffice?
In my experience, it's worthless since the "bug" that let Pursuit evade the choice item clause has been fixed.

I think yes for protect and no for sub. I know that sub won't, but if someone Roars you away through protect don't blame me. XD
You have to teach it via move tutor in one of the advance games.
