Then how do I keep people from setting up on me? It costs me the match almost every single time they it (wall or no wall).

Other than Hazing or Phazing, or the mentioned Taunt...

If you're faced with something dangerous that had a good switch-in and you know they're about to Dragon Dance, sometimes you could just switch in a wall that explodes, like Forretress, to end the threat immediately.

Also Focus Sash-equipped sweepers may be able to absorb a hit and KO back.

Thanks, guys! :)

I need to breed a Steelix (which will be named Steelicks, of course).

What are some good Taunters besides Gyarados? I need one for Special Sweepers (Gyarados doesn't like Thunderbolt).

what is the EXACT EVspread of a special Choice Scarf kyogre? is it modest nature and: 40hp/252spAtk/216spd? or is it less special attack but more HP?

There really aren't any really reliable ones, but Tyranitar, Gardevoir, Hypno, Grumpig, Dusknoir, Spiritomb, Probopass, and Heatran can take special hits decently. Note that none are particularly stable.

The most common taunters are Dos and TTar. Gliscor sometimes Taunts too. But I guess only TTar works on the Special Defense side.

Looking through serebii's list of taunters... Gallade and Alakazam have Taunt as well... but even though they have good s.def I don't see anyone using them as walls.

Choice Spec

It works all the time. Your special attacks are boosted. You can "see" it "working" when you do more damage than if you didn't equip the Choice Specs... then you can't choose a different move the next turn afterwards until that Pokemon switches. Try choosing a different move, if the game doesn't allow it, that is definite proof of the Choice Item working.

I have Choice Spec equipped now but I can still use other attacks, so it is not working?
How do I activate its ability?

It works all the time. I don't see why not. Try using one attack then a different attack next turn.
Oh BTW if you're playing on the IRC Bot or Shoddy Battle, some items don't work yet.

Are you sure its Choice Specs you have equiped, or do you have Wise Glasses? I have never seen a Choice Item not work in a Pokemon Game, so that just sounds wierd. .

Here's a question for Peterko (or anyone else well acquainted with Level 5 stats):

I have a Mild Onix with 18 Defense at Level 5 (as a parent, obviously, not the one I'll actually use!). The maximum Level 5 Defense with a neutral nature is 22. However, the breeding guide only takes into account stats up to 19 for adjusting for natures. In other words, what is the maximum Level 5 Defense for an Onix with a hindering nature?

When you breed to get a Nincada can you tell from the baby what IVs the Shedinja will have? Also does the Shedinja have all the moves that the Nincada had when it evolved and are the EVs transferred?

I personally wouldn't care, but don't plan on entering any official tournaments (Nintendo, GameStop, etc.). Besides, Smogon's tournaments will be better! :)

It wouldn't make the Pokemon itself illegit, seeing as how it was hatched from an egg in a location anybody could have hatched it in (lol, as if anybody would be stupid enough to hatch an egg in Flower Paradise/New Moon Island/Hall of Origin). I'm unsure if the game cartridge will be seen as illegit, though.

Would using the 1 stepp = 255 steps cheat make the pokemon I hatch with it considered illegit?
It's seen by the game as legitimate, but if you mean what do people think of it, it depends on who you ask. If you're planning on trading it, be sure to mention that, since some people may not like it.

How does PBR figures out that PKMN are hacked? ôo

As far as I know it detects illegal EV spreads and edited stats, Cherish Balls, and according to one Gamestop battle report thread, Pokemon with all 31 IV's.

EDIT: Also someone said it doesn't detect illegal moves and abilities. But I don't know if those will be banned from Wifi mode since GTS and Wifi BT (on the DS) seems to detect a lot of hacked stuff.

is there any real difference betweena real item and a hacked item? eg a berry that was found and a berry that was Action replayed... will there actually be any difference?

how can you tell if an item is hacked??

cheers

I'm still trying to figure this out though, my legitimate pokemon can make it on WiFi BT, but not onto PBR's Random Battles, while my friends PokeSav pokemon can make it on just fine.

Didn't even know one could edit a pokemon stat without first create it. About the last part of that first sentence, have you tested to see if that's true?
