Hello, my problem is with all the servers. I think I posted this on sourceforge a while back, but didn't get any help.

As of now, I can log on to Shoddy on any server, and watch battles. However, if I accept a challenge to a battle, send out a challenge that is accepted, or attempt to find a match on the ladder, I get a connection reset error. I have no idea what is wrong.

If someone can help with this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Still looking for help...

if you can't get to the site, it probally means you have a virus. I got rid of my virus, and now i can go to the site, but can't view it. So my problem is how can i view/download shoddy. On the cached version it says to type something in the run things i did it and it says "unable to launch application" with this JNLParseException[ Could not parse launch file. Error at line 0.]

I saw no where else to put this, if there is a place and I missed it then please show me but I have my server
Name: Snowy Mountains (hypnotist gave it to me)
Host: 24.20.63.29
Port: 1235

and I was wondering if I could get it on the server list, plz and thanks

Just now Shoddy was updated so I got DCed and stuff. This happens like normal when I try connecting:

Check for latest version...
Starting application...

Then an error comes up:

Unable to launch Shoddy Battle.

Is this since my Java isn't the up-to-date version (It worked perfectly before updates), it's just still being updated, or something else?

EDIT: Ok, there's now a guide thingy. Anyone know where the Java Control Panel is on a Mac OS X?

If I want to save the entire battle's text for a warstory, do I have to continuously catch and copy it as it scrolls (since after a while a part of the text gets cut off at the top) or can I just click save log to get it all, even what's been cut off?

Hmm...

Shoddy is giving me the ever-so-common "Unable to Launch Application" error, I assume its because I don't have the updated version of Shoddy. But then I run into another problem: I'm unable to access shoddybattle.com. I've scanned for viruses, and looked at my website blockings, and shoddy isn't on there and I have no viruses. The only other thing that would make sense to me that is I'm banned on the Official Server (not even sure why), but I don't see how that would be connected to the website.

Anyone know anything else that might work? lol

Why on Shoddy does Pichu have Surf by Level? Does Pichu even get Surf at all? I'm just wondering why it's there when you can't get a Pichu with surf in-game

You have a trojan. Read this for details:

I think it's either a NYPC or Japanese only thing.

It has been added to the server via a patch file; all moves added in that way appear as being by level up, don't worry about it.

I've never really used Shoddy before and I've started using it and now I wanna know what exactly my ranking thing is.

When I look at my record it says this:

Conservative Rating Estimate: 679
Rating: 1302-1718
Volatility: 0.3497523475247

So which one actually matters? lol

Conservative Rating Estimate is the one currently used on the leaderboard.
Conservative Rating Estimate: This is an estimate of your true rating that assumes you are as bad as you could possibly be, given your play history. As you play more matches, the uncertainty in your rating will decrease and the conservative rating estimate will approach your true rating. For the mathematically inclined, the formula for this statistic is given by:
conservative rating estimate = μ - 4ϕ
where μ is the mean rating and ϕ is the standard deviation.
Rating: This is the range that comprises one standard deviation on either side of your mean rating. In other words, there is a 72% chance that your true rating falls within this range. Your rating is increased by winning matches, and the width of the range is decreased simply by playing more matches, regardless of whether you win.
Volatility: The volatility factor is a measure of how consistently you play. If your rating does not change much each day then your volatility will be low, whereas if you improve or worsen rapidly your volatility will be high.

If you tell me to uninstall+reinstall Shoddy, please also tell me how to uninstall it, because I don't think I did it right before (on a different computer). Thank you.

Anyone?

Secret Power paralyses in Shoddy Battle, since that is the effect from an arena which is being simulated. The backgrounds that Doug just added are purely cosmetic, and don't affect the mechanics in any way

I've been wondering about this for a while, and forgive me if the idea seems ridiculous, but would it be possible to make a Shoddy Battle app for the iPhone/iPod Touch?

For shoddy battle 1, probably not. For shoddy battle 2, it would in theory be possible since the protocol will be very simple, but it would be a fair bit of work and I'm not sure that many people would use it

Reposting because no one answered the first time.

Why doesn't Choice Scarfed Assist work like it does in game? In game, it uses Assist and then picks the second move, but on Shoddy, it fails after the first use.

Is it because Assist is bugged or something?

I've got a question: I've just discovered the "box" function, which apparently was implemented some time ago (but I had not heard of until just now). I'm wondering where precisely this box data is saved, and if there is a way to add boxes via downloading a file.
If so, I'd like to start a project where Smogon players compile common sets of commonly used Pokemon into boxes so that they can easily be exported onto teams. This would be a great way to help newer players get started, as they could bring in premade Pokemon onto their teams.

Assist is bugged. It should behave properly in Shoddy Battle 2

Boxes are saved in the same spot as sprites, which is not easily accessible on Windows. Theoretically you could drop the contents of someone else's box, but the boxes will be more robust in shoddy battle 2 and hopefully support this kind of thing
