I believe they were talking about several new routes since the oot 100% run is always changing, so I wouldn't be surprised if wrong warping early became standard sometime after runnerguy's 100% run at AGDQ last year

there's this video, for example, that wrong warps early and was posted 7 months ago

The wrong warp has been done since mid 2013 after Bottom of the Well was determined to be too far out of the way (considering they use the wrong warp to get to Zelda's Lullaby)
