i think that return over stone edge makes a really good option on most sets , its almost as strong as stone edge because of the though claws boost, it has similar natural coverage , plus it never misses .

Stone edge hits grass types harder, and helps deal with pesky fliers.

Choice band doesn't seem popular on talonflame, but it won't help if you have screens up. While they are up, barbaracle needs to worry most about status

To answer as best as possible; Common scarfers murder it, Sharp Claws doesn't boost QuakeEdge coverage, many common threats give it trouble setting up, priority is everywhere.
