BATTLE SPOT SINGLES CLASSIC VIII​

Welcome to the eigth edition of Battle Spot Stadium Singles Classic Tournament! Dust off your Dynamax/Gigamax, Z Crystals, Mega Stones, and gems and get ready for some old gens action! Players will be facing each other in three BSS-based formats between GBU Singles, ORAS BSS, and USUM BSS and SS BSS, in the form of a best-of-three. This tournament will award Circuit Points that goes towards the 2024 Invitational at the end of the year that awards a ribbon on the forums.

Specific Rules
  • The tournament will be Best of Three of SS BSS, USUM BSS, ORAS BSS, GBU Singles. The tournament is Double Elimination.
  • The first tier will be chosen based on !pick. The loser of the first game gets to pick the format for the second game. You cannot play the same generation multiple times!.
  • SS BSS will be played SERIES 12.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown/Smogtours.
  • Replays must be saved and POSTED. Matches without a replay will not count as completed. If you don't want to risk forgetting to save replays play on Smogtours as it's automatic there.
  • In an event of a timeout, the player who times out will lose that game unless the opponent grants a rematch. This holds true even for a disconnect, due to being unable to know which three Pokemon have been selected at team preview. Consequently, players do not need to send in their teams to a TD.
  • Activity calls and coinflips will be done by myself and the pick command on Pokemon Showdown respectively.

Firstly ggs luis, you are the person that got me into bss tournaments and winning my first major against you in grand finals is too poetic.

I started playing smogon BSS tournaments in 2022 and I had one goal in mind, I wanted to win a major tournament and get myself into the BSS hall of fame. During the almost four years that I’ve been competing and trying to achieve my goal I’ve become entrenched in one of the kindest, most inclusive communities I’ve ever had the pleasure of being part of. The smogon BSS community has allowed me to blossom not only as a player, but as a person, and despite the many heartbreaks en route to this victory I’ve always been able to pick up the pieces and keep going because of that.

I know this isn’t the biggest accomplishment, but it’s something I have been chasing for a long time, and it means a lot to me.

I also don’t think this victory is solely mine, from practice to prep there are a load of people who gave me the confidence I needed to finally break the wall.

These people and many more helped me finish this run and I am forever grateful for everything. Hopefully this isn’t “the one” for me, but I can now finally say that I’ve accomplished my goal.
