The Frozen Throne, the dreaded seat of power of the Lich King, is a large ice platform upon the top of a giant spire. An invisible wall surrounds the platform, preventing any Pokémon from falling below. However, it is highly unadvisable to fly too much above the arena, because the strong winds generally cause the unfortunate mon to be blown away (which would result in the Pokémon being effectively knocked out).

An interesting feature of the Frozen Throne is its soul siphon. Whenever a Pokémon deals 30 or more damage in a single round, he acquires a Soul Fragment at the end of the round. The Fragment can be used at the start of the next round to get one of the following effects:

- Restoring 10 Energy. This effect does not consume an action.
- Powering up an attack, causing it to deal 3 more damage. The user must declare which attack will be powered up (for example, he could issue the following order: Tackle - Thunder Wave - Tackle (powered up) ).

The Soul Fragment must be used in the round it gets available or it is lost (so, you cannot store it up). If the Soul Fragment is not used in the turn it is available, the user takes 10 flat damage caused by the fragment exploding.

I may still make the occasional mistakes during my reffing, but I at least tend towards timeliness, and none of the battles I've started as ref have ever required a subref. I'll be the subref for VirajVora and WeatherOfChoice .

Not only am I reffing those battles, but I've created my first ever arena! When making it, I wanted to make an arena which people would be willing to play in, and because dragon qualifiers are being prepared for, I made an arena that benefits dragons by weakening the two types which resist them. I'm going to offer to host as ref three battles of different formats in this arena, so as to see how it works out, and I'm hoping to get feedback I can use when creating future arenas.

Arena: Dragalge’s Cave

Complexity: Simple

Format: All


Deep underneath an islet far out at sea, lies a littoral cave. The cavern is inaccessible by land, and explorers can only reach it through swimming inside. Within the large lakes of this underground space, a herd of Dragalge have made their home. These Dragalge have shaped this subterranean area to the advantage of dragon-types in general. They have left a special poison throughout the littoral cave, which has no affect on most types of pokemon. For fairy types and steel types, however, the Dragalges’ special poison has a decidedly negative effect. Fairy types- with the exception of dragon-kind’s kin, such as mega-Altaria- are immediately inflicted with toxic poison when they come into contact with it. Steel types, though not poisoned, are automatically corroded, meaning they can be affected by poison type moves and be poisoned, just as if the move Acid had been used on them.



Summary:

Effects:

*Fairy-type pokemon which enter this arena are automatically inflicted with toxic poison. The only exceptions are those that are dual-typed as dragons, such as mega-Altaria. Because of the second arena affect, fairies that are part steel-type are also affected.

*Steel-types which enter this arena permanently have the status condition ‘corroded’. This means that they can be affected by poison-type attacks and status.
