"I won! Whoopee!!"

The kid jumps with joy. After a while, he finally returns Gardevoir to its Pokeball, then addresses you. "That was a good match, lady! We should play again some other time! See ya!" And with that, he runs straight off in the other direction at full speed, leaving you alone with your roast bird. Did he get so excited that he forgot his reason for battling in the first place?

Whatever. It's only noon -- you still have a full half a day of entertainment ahead of you. A couple of Max Revives are enough to get your Pokemon good as new and ready to ride the attractions. And what great attractions there are! There's a huge water slide, a 10-story-tall ferris wheel, a zip-line, some go-karts (Kaya really enjoys bumping into the other drivers)... You barely have enough time to ride them all.

You leave the park many hours after the sun has set. As you walk back to your car, you notice a large crack in the concrete wall Kaya punched earlier, and feel a tinge of guilt. But then you see the smiles on your Pokemon's joyful faces as they talk with each other about their favorite parts of the trip, and you wonder if maybe breaking down that door was the right call. Property damage is temporary, but memories like these last forever, right...?

Thanks for playing!

Only epicdrill and TheEver should be posting in this thread.

Scenario: Village of the Boreal Forest (T2)

Pokemon #1: Morgana the Gengar
Pokemon Ability: Cursed Body
Pokemon Attitude: Morgana likes playing tricks on people, especially those she knows well.
Pokemon Background: Before being caught by epicdrill, Morgana enjoyed playing with the other Gengar nearby, jumping between shadows of passers by and having a competition over who could steal the most small trinkets from these passers by without being caught. This particular group of Gengar also enjoyed playing pranks on each other.

Pokemon #2: Misty the Gyarados
Pokemon Ability: Intimidate
Pokemon Attitude: Misty likes surprises, both for herself and for others. She loves surprise parties in particular, both planning them and having them thrown for her.
Pokemon Background: Growing up in the ocean, Misty tended to avoid battle as a result of being a Magikarp. Instead, her and the other Magikarp in her community would build elaborate structures on the ocean floor to play around in while hiding from other pokemon.

You've heard reports that a particular northern village is home to a veteran trainer known for teaching a powerful battling technique. Always looking to improve yourself, you've decided to seek them out. Besides, Lake Acuity may be an upcoming arena in a particular tournament, so getting used to the cold environment may be worthwhile regardless. This particular village is so remote that it is only accessible by foot. A bus drops you off at a nearby, larger town, but from there, you and your Pokémon will be making the journey alone. You equip yourself with warm winter gear and a pair of snowshoes and head on your way.

It isn't long on your trek when a sparkle out of the snow catches the corner of Morgana's eye. She communicates her findings to you, and the three of you go off course to investigate. Upon closer inspection, it looks like whatever is buried under the snow is incredibly fragile, so it's best not to hastily start digging. The tiny bit of what's peeking out from under the white blanket looks incredibly valuable though, so you know that you can't just leave it there.

epicdrill, how will you dig out the object without damaging it?

191899.jpg

How are we going to get that out? It seems important and we should probably take it with us.

:ss/gyarados:
I can blow the snow off the top, but it'll still be frozen into the snow.

:ss/gengar:
I should be able to melt the stuff around it out so that we can pull it out.

191899.jpg

That works!

Misty will use Twister to blow the snow off the top of the object, while Morgana uses Will-o-Wisp to carefully melt the nearby snow so that it can be slid out and isn't frozen in the ground anymore. Then, Misty will use Strength to pull the object out of the ground.

Misty creates a whirlwind that kicks up snow off of the object. In doing so, she knocks snow all over the three of you. Annoyed, Morgana summons a small collection of ghastly flames to melt away the remaining ice around the object, which has now been revealed to be green in colour and crystalline in shape. Misty carefully uses her strength to upheave the area around the green crystal, which is still partially buried in the ground. With the crystal unearthed, the remaining dirt and mud is able to be removed, revealing a beautiful peridot gemstone. Thinking that this stone has some value, you take it with you.

Success: +2 TC

But before you're able to get too far, a voice from behind interrupts you.

rocketgrunt.png

"Hey, what do you think you're doing with that?"

Confused, you're unable to come up with a response right away.

"Um, hello? I asked you a question!"

You still don't have a response for him.

"Well, I'll have you know that you just defiled my grandmother's grave."

You don't quite buy his story. The man looks super shady, dressed like a typical robber. You figure that the gemstone will sell for a lot of money, which is why he is trying to get his hands on it. The man senses your skepticism.

"Ahh, you didn't buy that. Well, only one thing left to do. I'll take that gemstone by force!"

You are challenged by the Gemstone Bandit!

"Pfft, fine. Take your gemstone."

Disgruntled, pun intended, the bandit leaves you alone, but the battle took up enough of your day that you see the sun start to set. Not only that, but the snow is really starting to pick up, becoming a full on blizzard. You're too far away from the northern village to make it before it gets dark, but you've come too far from the bigger town that you don't want to turn around and go back. In a bit of a conundrum, you wander around for a few moments pondering your options for shelter.

But during your wandering, you notice what looks to be the opening to a small cave. You move closer to investigate, and have your Pokémon move some of the snow away from the entrance. Definitely a cave. While small, it does appear large enough to house you and your Pokémon until you can resume your journey. However, you're not looking forward to spending the night sleeping on the cold and damp floor of a cave. There is also the issue of light; once the sun sets, the cave will be super dark.

epicdrill, how do you make the cave more comfortable so you can take shelter?

191899.jpg

This cave looks like a good spot for us to spend the night!

:ss/gyarados:
But it's cold and dark...

:ss/gengar:
So? That's perfectly fine with me.

191899.jpg

Morgana, the rest of us aren't Gengar, we're not as comfortable with cold and dark as you are.

:ss/gengar:
Okay fine, I guess I'll help with some light, but someone else will need to deal with the cold and damp.

:ss/gyarados:
I can deal with that.

Misty will use Fire Blast to dry out the cave and warm up the ground a bit, and then Morgana will use Will-o-Wisp to provide us with some light.

Misty, known Water-type, launches a torrent of fire at the floor of the cave, causing the cave's surface to warm up to a more agreeable temperature for sleeping. To light up the cave, Gengar returns to its favourite attack so far: Will-O-Wisp. With the cave in better conditions, you and your Pokémon are able to rest more comfortably.

Success: +1 TC

Before you can fall asleep, though, you hear some panicked screaming from outside of the cave.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!"

A woman faceplants into your cave equipped in full skiing gear. You rush to her and check if she is okay.

skierf.png

"Oh, I knew I shouldn't have let Brad convince me to go on that double black diamond! I can barely handle the bunny hill! Ugh, where the fuc---aaaaaaaaaa!! Cave demon!!"

In her delirious state, the woman readies her Pokémon to fend you off.
