Well this game is due out around fall of 2011 and I'm excited. Any fans of the Battlefield series, especially BF2 and BFBC2 would be stoked as heck for this game.
The game also has new cod engine and brings some features back to game classic fan favourites like jets, going prone and 64-player multiplayer on PC.

My friend became a giant nerd at bf 2 (platinum stars for multiple guns or some shit, I don't really play the game) so I intend to play this game stoned a lot in the future.
Might buy it, there's not much else I'm looking forward to (besides bulletstorm and portal 2)

My bad, I instinctively thought it was battlefield bad company 3 even though EVERYWHERE says otherwise.
 
I liked Battlefield BC2 but it got really boring after a while what with the repetitive experiences. Maybe its just because I'm getting less into Video Games than I used to be? I dunno I just remember I got the Platinum with the VSS so that was fun :D. I might get BC3 if it lays off the team orientedness on some maps (not all of them). Sometimes I just want to play the game without having to map out every little thing I have to do to be sucessful. Also: FUCKIN BAN SNIPER RIFLES IN BC3.
 
The Battlefield: Bad Company Series was a mere stepping stone for Battlefield 3. They essentially felt their "vision" wouldn't be realized without some experimentation, so they experimented with the Bad Company series. In other words, DICE is going to make a huge attempt to blow everything out of the water with their newfound experimentation and experience. Most bullshitless shooter, awwww yeah.

I have been so disappointed with generic war shooters in the past 2 years that I might not even bother with this one. But if it's really as awesome an revolutionary as you guys make it out to be it might actually be good.

Until then maybe I'll go buy bulletstorm or borderlands

Battlefield 3 looks gorgeous, this game is one of the reasons I'm getting my GTX570 (this, Skyrim and Crysis 2).

I loved Battlefield 2, even though I'm awful at it, Bad Company 2 was also great although Bad Company is pretty different to the main series.

- Awesome character models, look at the details even on the boots and also the fantastic textures;
- Dragging comrades;
- Full body awareness.

The only thing I noticed that was off graphics-wise was that Acog, they made the eyepiece fucking huge like in CoD.
 
man bf2 was the man, i think tik summed it up best; this is how shooters are done

i hope we're not following in the veins of they arcadey cod just because of the engine
 
I'm totally down with dropshots, that's all I do in CoD (not that I expect them to be possible in Battlefield 3). VKCA guessed correctly about why going prone is not cool; the fact that you can only crouch in BFBC2 is the only thing that makes snipers tolerable. The ability to go prone will indeed slow down the game and I speculate that it will make it a lot less enjoyable.

Buuut I've only played the Bad Company set of games (and Battlefield 1943), so I'll have to pick up Battlefield 2 and get a feel for that before I make any more comments.
 
Holy cow Reno, great find. I still stand by my statement that the animations suck, but hopefully they will include a full SDK on release, letting us fix stuff like that.
