Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Single Player/Multiplayer Discussion

BadCompany2BetaPreview-2.jpg

This will be a thread on discussion about the new upcoming FPS Battlefield: Bad Company 2. This game will be released on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 5, 2010 in Europe. This game will be available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Update 3/7/10: The demos has been removed since around February 18, 2010.

Update 3/5/10: Most of you might have already purchased the game and have been playing through a few levels of its campaign mode or just having fun on the multiplayer. So in that case, tell us about your single player/multiplayer gameplay experience. What are you liking about Bad Company 2 so far? Maybe you have a few opinions, questions or suggestions that you want to contribute to the thread? Post them all here.

If you are a fan of FPS franchise such as Call of Duty and Left 4 Dead, then I believe that you will be able to find the joy of playing this game—even with the minor adjustments of getting used to the slightly different control format. Since having played those franchises of FPS, you will be delighted to know that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a fantastic multiplayer-based game.

In the example of the Squad Rush mode, you will be placed onto a side and working together as a team to either destroy or protect the valuables from the opposing team. There are many other game modes that you can play on the multiplayer, such as the Conquest, Rush (different from Squad Rush), and Squad Deathmatch. The maximum number of people joining in a server can be up to 24 players on PS3 and Xbox 360 (32 on PC).

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 offers four classes of soldiers ranging from Assault, Engineer, Medic, and Recon. You will also have the chance to take control of the four available vehicles such as the Quad Bike, Personal Water Craft (PWC), Helicopter, and everyone’s favorite destructive piece of machinery: Tank. In case of some people who are familiar with the classic FPS title such as the Team Fortress 2, the roles in Bad Company 2 are very similar to that.

If there is a few things I would have to say about the Battlefield: Bad Company 2, it would be the four things that separates it from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and other FPS franchise: exploding buildings, enormous maps, vehicles, and realistic firefights! It looks refreshing and also has great audio quality. I would greatly recommend this game to anyone, and even including the newcomer to FPS genre.

Discuss, rant, or post anything about this game that you have in mind. It can be anything from the single-player and/or multiplayer gameplay.

P.S. Don't forget to make your pre-order for Battlefield: Bad Company 2® Limited Edition. In doing that you will have exclusive access to six unlocks, which are Improved Vehicle Armor, Supreme Vehicle Firepower, Vehicle Motion Sensor, Tracer Dart Pistol, and the M1A1 Submachine Gun and the M1911 Pistol.
Ok. This is alone a good enough reason for a no-buy from me.

Its not exclusive, you just get it before you are intended to get it leveling up.
My mistake on that part. I will have it removed to clear up any further concern or misunderstanding. Thanks for correcting me on that minor detail.

I read that the deal with the limited edition is you will get to unlock those six upgrades after you entered the codes at the "Store" menu right when you begin the game. Obviously other players will be able to obtain the same upgrade, but it'll just take them some time before achieving them. As an additional bonus, those who have pre-ordered from GameStop will get their code to early unlock the AKS-74 rifle for your Engineer character.

Also, my bad for misplacing the term "exclusive" and not having re-edited my explanation earlier.

the way you put the titles of games in italics and put a ® after them reminds me eerily of some sort of advertisement, not to mention you're telling us all to go pre-order it for the "exclusives"

Yeah, after a few readings I'm starting to think that was silly and began removing them down. I guess I was a little too excited about this game. The demo was really fun, that's why. And I guess I did went a little too formal with the formating.

The only thing I'm disliking about this game so far is the lack of being able to prone onto the ground. I mean, without that it really makes sniping a little harder since the enemy will be able to see our head. The Ghillie suit does help with the camouflage, but it isn't as useful because of the inability to prone down.

Er, don't use registered and trademarked signs in your posts. You're coming off as a PR representative for EA.

I've got the demo on PC and 360. I suck =[ Probably won't get too into it as Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2 are about all I have time for when I do multiplayer.

Thanks for editing it out for me. I don't have the ability to remove it from the forum title when I realized that I was copy and pasting that trademarked sign.

You don't suck. lol

i really like this demo. so much superior to MAG, codmw2, and halo.

Very strategic, and very team based, the medic class with the tracer dart is so supportive.

Oh damn, I forgot to tell that the PS3 demo will have different map than the PC and Xbox 360 demo. The PS3 demo takes place in Africa Harbor (desert place), while the PC and Xbox 360 demo takes place in Port Valdez (snowy field).

I haven't had the guts to try the medic yet. I do remember getting revived pretty often by a medic who's a friend of mine. I also had an engineer friend who would stick besides me to help supply me the sniper ammo. With three of us together, we had the range of a sniper, the ability to get heal/revived, the good resupplying of ammunition, and then the tank we could hide behind and inside thanks to engineer's ability to continuously repair it. It was so damn fun.

Edit: Here is a funny video about a medic killing enemies with his defibrillator. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM4S5ru3RK4
Also another cool video about a sniper singlehandedly taking down an enemy helicopter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EZ4V4quE5k

Sorry if I'm reviving a dead thread, but it's coming out in 1 day I think.

I've been watching beta videos and it looks so goddamn good. I really want it, but I'm broke right now, so I guess I'll have to wait.

Played the beta, pretty much hated it, its gonna be hard to play any modern shooter besides mw2, and before people go on a hate rant about mw2, I love the way the game controls more than anything else about the game, just feels right. And so the game may be "broken" in a certain ways, but this is just the "people who take this shit way to fucking seriously and cant take a fucking loss" group speaking shit, in general I play MW2 without a care about my kd, just for fun, and its probably the best online shooter I've played in my life.

I tried BF:BC2, and MAG, and a few others, and they just feel like fifty steps backwards from cod.

That being said, if somebody threw a copy of this game at me, I would play it for a little, as far as shit goes, it wasn't too bad.

Bad Company 2 and MAG aren't very "noob-friendly" so they do make a pretty bad first impression. You need to go into it with a group of three other friends at least to make it an enjoyable experience. And when you do, it's a lot more rewarding than a more mindless shooter like MW2. Different types of games for different people.

Yeah, I'll agree that they are probably more rewarding with a party of people, I could definitely see that, but I've never really been a hardcore online fps fan. I didn't even play the original MW, I've just really played Halo 3 and MW2 online, and they have both been enjoyable experiences. I like to hop onto MW2 to just play a few matches, occasionally I play with friends, but not too often, I actually prefer to play solo, which is why I guess I don't like the games mentioned above.

It is absolutely amazing. The campaign and gameplay is so much better than MW2 (although I think graphics wise, the guns on MW2 are way better) I'll probably be buying this on Steam.

The campaign mode was fun, although if Dice were to have added the function of co-op in the campaign then that would have made it even sweeter. I just missed being able to co-op through the campaign with my buddies on CoD:WaW. I think the reason most of the people are liking the atmosphere in Bad Company 2 is because of all the color chemistry and improved graphic engine. The scenery are simply breathtaking and wondrous--almost photographic in a way.

The multiplayer mode is, as to be expected from Dice and as one of the Battlefield title, absolutely refreshing and additively exciting. I really have a feeling that me and my buddies will be spending a lot more time on multiplayer of Bad Company than that of Modern Warfare. In the CoD series, the multiplayer map has always been that of a war arenas rather than an actual battlefield, whereas in Bad Company you will be playing on a larger scale of war with huge maps and vehicles. CoD just feels like sandbox versus the feeling of sand dune in Bad Company. Now that is a huge difference.

I've been playing BF: BC2 for quite a damn bit (got it on opening day :D), and fuck it's awesome. Breathtaking scenery (even on my old shitt TV), and the sound is awesome.

I've started MP either yesterday/day before and it's great. My favorite mode is squad deathmatch. So much chaos and destruction. Anyways, my 360 name is CargoCarrier, hit me up if you want an engineer.

Is their a demo on the 360 for this? I could of sworn I read somewhere that a demo was coming after the ps3 and pc demo's but I still cannot see one

The demos were taken down somewhere last two weeks ago. It's not a campaign but an online squad rush mode. They probably don't want to keep the server alive since it might interfere with or take up space for the current game server, and not many of game industry do this kind of offer in the first place.

Got this on friday and damn, it's amazing. I've been playing it like a beast, got 3 weapon unlocks on the assault, 4 on the recon and 5 on the engineer, just got 5000 more to go for that UMP45.

Not to turn this into a CoD vs BF thread, but up until about 5 days ago the only online FPS I played was MW2. After I played on this for a night, I tried MW2 again and just couldn't go back to it. This game rewards you for having skills, unlike CoD where I just stick my face round a corner into the path of an M203.

The graphical style, audio, hell even the music on the menu screens before a battle starts is awesome and just shows off their attention to detail.

At the minute I'm really liking the XM8 Compact and the PP2000 (both with Red Dot) for the Engineer, the AUG (with an ACOG) for Assault and the GOL Magnum Sniper (with the sick 12x scope and spotting scope) for the Recon. Sidearm wise I use the Magnum, it only gets a 6 clip, but it works great if I don't manage a one shot with the Sniper, just finish them off with one from that. The M9 and the Grach are both good though, but the M93R is really disappointing.

Everything feels much improved since the demo and DICE have really managed to win me over. I really hope these server teething problems sort themselves out soon though, I want to play more :D

Hi got this game today it is incredible. I realise team work is extremely important so lets play together. add me if you are gmt or est on xbl. Pet Giraffe UK

Hey, got this game recently, and after playing with it, I am in love with the LMGs. I cannot decide which is better, the M60 or the MG3. the M60's power and accuracy are nice, but the recoil throws me off, the MG3 is a beast a t close combat, and it's decent at long range. What do yo think is better.

Oh yeah, this knocks the socks off MW2, which sucks now compared to this.

the m60 is the dominant lmg, especially with marksman training and a red dot. The m16, the m4 and an94 compete for top spot in the assault category. The ump and ak-74 are top dogs as lmgs, and the m95 is the best sniper.

I bought this when it was $20 on the EA store. I did not like the campaign at all, I quit less than two hours in and will probably not bother with it at all. The multiplayer I have been enjoying a lot. So far my favorite class is medic, and I've been doing most of my leveling with medic, although I also have been playing more engineer ever since I unlocked the repair tool. Apparently the game's voice chat is either non-functional or just not used, so I've been playing with friends and using mumble for voice comms, which has made the game drastically more enjoyable.

My only real gripe about this game is the way that the item progression works. I don't mind working for weapons, but starting off with only two weapons (one of which is a sidearm) is pretty dumb. Your starting options are an engineer that can't repair vehicles, a medic that can't heal or revive people, a recon without motion sensors, and an assault that has a very finite supply of options. Getting the first level as engineer is really hard when all you have is an anti-tank weapon and terrible smg, I ended up doing most of my leveling with the saiga.
