Best 2 Pokemon Combo?

The problem with a Bug/Flying weak is that they are both horrible attacking types.
If it was a Fight/Ice weak, I'd be more worried. But really, just switch to some random rock/steel/electric/poison/fire/ghost. Or really, just any steel because that resists both.

Bug is a weak attack type, but Flying is not. CB Raptor with Brave Bird is quite powerful. Same goes for it with U-Turn. Think about it, you send in Raptor to KO Breloom when the sub is down, use U-Turn, and bye bye starmie. Even if you kep Breloom in, he would die.

Sure, if it was faster than starmie. And it would have died a long time ago if it had LO.

You're assuming too much to think that his Sub is down. Every Breloom I've ever fought has Subbed or Spored on a switch and god knows Raptor hates the idea of a Focus Punch to the gut.

Flying necessitates Fighting and only Raptor is lucky enough to get a good fighting attack. The problem of course is that Raptor is predictable as hell and U-turn is only as good on him as it is on anyone.

No two-pokemon combo can hope to stop everyone but many get close (Heatgrowth really comes to mind).

I have a formulafor a good combo...

Gyrados*Mantine*(waterabsorb/intimidate)-4ac = a good combo
Electivire/jolteon*Electirc attack*2a

I also see that, for the lower tiers, Mantine and steelickxs resitst each others weaknesses, but a water/electric/ice user can be a pain.

True, the sub is hard to break, but there are ways of doing so. Get the raptor in on the sub, U-Turn, and have something to absorb the punch or stone edge. Bye Breloom. Whatever switched in should be able to at least brake a Breloom sub, which isn't hard at all. Even NVE moves with decent attack should do the job. Not to mention, if Breloom has leech seed over stone edge, and by some miracle Staraptor is slower, Breloom just wasted a turn, and lost a sub.

And how many Raptors do you face in a week? In all my battles, I've only come across 1, and I've done a decent number of battles. I don't see how every battler knows what to do when it comes out. Sure, there will likely be a flying attack, but you've got to have something that has excellent defense and won't get 2KOd by it. Even then, if the player knows that you have a resist, it will U-Turn and switch to an appropriate counter. Claiming that he is "predictable as hell" somewhat biased, in the fact that Staraptor isn't a common Pokemon, as, say, Infernape.

None of my favs are amazing but they tend to work for me:

DDGyarados and CBTyranitar. (with pursut usually)

Almost all Gyara counters hate CBTyranitar (barring Tangrowth, other Gyara and a few others. Common counters (cress, slowbro, starmie) all hate CBTyranitar's pursuit. Likewise, Gyara's typing lets it resist, 5 of Tyranitars weakness and one being an immunity. Tyranitar takes neutral from both Electric and Rock but the SS boost really helps with electric attacks providing easy switch ins.

Forretress and Dusknoir.

On paper, these two can counter most standard physical attackers given the right movesets. (Noir wouldn't carry will-o-wisp to power up hera and would normally have EQ instead.) They cover up each other's weakness decently and provide a wall/spin and block combo.

Garchomp and Bronzong(mixed wall spread and special attacker, with levitate too)

Resisist each other's weakness, this Bronzong would switch in almost everything that counters Chomp, and they can both be pretty versitile.)

Empoleon and Torterra cover so much (type-wise) it isnt funny. They also hit hard from either side of the spectrum, and take a few hits as well.

I, for one really like the combo of Shuckle and Bibarel.

Just think about it. Shuckle seems like set-up bait, so people will try and set-up on it by using their stat-up moves. Shuckle encores the stat-up and switches over to Bibarel. If they just attack Shuckle, he can Knock Off their item. Neutral to pretty much everything Bibarel is weak to.

Now the opponent is essentially forced to switch out, or waste up to 6 turns using a stat-up move that is going to be having no effect for Bibarel (unless it's speed). In that time, Bibarel will be Fanging away, slicing 50% of their health each time if they don't switch out. Most of the time, it only takes 2 Super Fangs then a Waterfall/Return to KO the opponent. This is especially helpful with Stealth Rock (also from Shuckle). Of course for this to work, Bibarel's ability needs to be Unaware. Bibarel can also take any water attacks aimed at Shuckle with ease, as it resists them, and a lot of people attack Shuckle with Surf.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Metagross / Jirachi + Salamence, not really for their attacking combinations but for the fact that they each exactly resist eachothers weaknesses. Metagross resists Dragon / Ice / Rock, while Salamence resists Fire and is immune to Ground, so they really pair perfectly together weakness wise, and iirc resist 14 out of 17 types, not to mention each of them can use both attacking spectrums well, so they will be hard to wall.

And that Shuckle + Bibarel idea actually sounds really cool lol.

Aeroduggy

Aerodactyl outspeeds stuff and hits HARD
Dugtrio comes in like a Mafia Hitman, and "removes" any survivors of Aero's wrath.

Gyarados and Steelix deserve a mention, They both resist each others weaknesses. Flygon / Salamence / Dragonite + Metagross / Jirachi / Bronzong also is a pretty sturdy combination.

Pure. Genius. I'm going to test it on Shoddy :]

And how does the Sceptile+Raikou combo work?

I know how it worked in the times of yore, but it could have changed now. The old way was this:

Raikou @ Leftovers
Timid 252 Sp Attack/ Enough HP for best recovery/ rest in Sp attack

TBolt
CM
HP Ice
Substitute

Sceptile @ Leftovers
Jolly 252 Speed/ 200 Def/ 52 HP

Leaf Blade
Substitute
Leech Seed
???(forgot)

Basically, you send in Raikou, and get either a CM or a sub up. Then, the opponent would send in their EQ-user to counter you. Then, in comes Sceptile to absorb it, and KO back. With Boltbeam/ grass, nothing resists it.

Hmm, I see. Thanks for the info, it's a shame HP Ice Raikous are almost impossible to get on Wi-Fi. Well, that's why we have Shoddy.

And I believe the fourth move on Sceptile is HP Fire, for Steels.

I used to like lanturn+skarmory.

Skarmory is only weak to fire and electric which lanturn absorbs and resist. While lanturn is only weak to ground and grass which skarm has a 4x resist and immunity to.

I like Gyaravire because my team is based off them and my non-ground sweepers lure Thunder Waves like nothing. As well I think ChompTar is sweet because Chomp gets helped by Sand Storm.

And how does the Sceptile+Raikou combo work?

Heh, well if you want the Shuckle + Bibarel combo to be at its best, unfortunately we have to wait for Unaware to be implimented...but I have tried it without any ability, since none of Bibarel's are yet, and it still works awesomely. :]

Damnit. I just noticed that problem ._. Well, I'm going for it anywayl, as he still has Thunder Wave (I decided to use Swagger because of Unaware).

There's no "best", because combos entirely depend on what you want the two Pokémon to do. Common weak/resist, assistance, or what? Do you want them to work if the Pokémon have to stand alone?

For me, a grood combo is Smeargle and Metagross. Smeargle's infinitely big movepool lets one make a simple Sash set with Agility-Swords Dance-Spore-Baton Pass. Agility on non-Taunters, then Spore when it takes damage, SD, and Pass. Now you have an Agiligross with four moves and a massive Attack stat. It is quite possible you'll sweep a team that's not prepared for it quite easily, OHKOing Phazers before they can, uh, Phaze. The best thing about this combo is that if need be both Pokémon can be separated. Smeargle can just Pass to someone else. Metagross can be Metagross.

SpecsMence and Metagross work well together.

Ice, Rock, and Dragon is resisted by Metagross.
Ground and Fire is resisted by Salamence.

Together they hit hard from both the physical and special side.
