Black Malachite
(READ MY STATEMENT IN MY MOST RECENT POST)

My tenth (and most popular) album
"Cyber.Asylum" - https://blackmalachite.bandcamp.com/album/cyber-asylum

(My discography is discounted by 90% right now on Bandcamp)

Hello everyone! I've been playing Pokemon for ages now, and one thing that always stood out to me in Pokemon were the fantastic soundtracks, particularly around Generation 3 and 4. This love brought me further into the world of game OSTs, and was a huge influence on my own music (even made myself a remix based on Arceus a while back, and am planning to make a Darkrai based remix in the future. So I just wanted to share some of my music with all of you!
Background: I've been making music since I was 16 years old (I'm 27 now). I started almost exclusively as a harsh vocalist (screams), but have since branched out into many different genres. I learned how to generate all my music on the computer using VSTs, since severe brain trauma unfortunately keeps me from being able to learn instruments physically. I've had many projects before Black Malachite, but this one is what I've been doing consistently the longest (three and a half years) and I'm so proud of it.
Genres: I make music of all genres; with my top five that I love to work on being Classical, Ambient, Atmospheric Metal, Chilldub, and Post-Rock. I also like to dabble in genres such as Metalcore, Industrial, Rap, Techno, Drum n' Bass, and Hardstyle. Most of my music is instrumental, although I am a vocalist (I'm a harsh vocalist [screams]).

Discography: I've released 16 albums, 18 EPs, two compilations, and a remaster of my debut album. I've also released several standalone singles, and remixes. I utilize a variety of different genres on my releases. My first, third, seventh, eleventh, and thirteenth albums are an eclectic mix of many different genres. My second album 'Void' was a mix of various styles of ambient. My fourth album 'Nightfall' was a blend of Post-Rock, Country, and Chilldub. My fifth album 'We All Come To An End' is a concept story album, mixing a blend of Alternative Rock, Classical, and Post-Hardcore together. 'Motion' my sixth album (considered my best release), is entirely Chillwave / Chilldub / Ambient, and focuses entirely on vibes. My eighth album 'Reaper Roots' is an entirely classical release with tiny bits of ambient here and there. 'Of Shadow and Blood', my ninth album is also a Chillwave / Chilldub / Ambient album like 'Motion' was, however it's a lot more aggressive than before. 'Cyber.Asylum' is a mish-mash of synthwave, ambient, and various forms of techno. 'Oblivion of Reality: The Story of the Lost Girl' is a completely classical / orchestral album. 'As We Roam Amongst the Stars' is a completely ambient and classical album with some experimentation thrown in there. My 15th album 'Emo Vibes Only' is a blend of Lo-Fi, Chillwave, and Synthwave with bits of Classical and Ambient thrown in, and my 16th album 'The Rain: It Never Ends' is a 90s Techno throwback blended with Synthwave and Ambient Electronic.

Influences: The first producer I ever really looked to for influence in creating my own music was Klayton of 'Celldweller', which is an industrial project he's had going since the early 2000s. I consider him to be one of my greatest influences, along with other composers such as Olafur Arnalds. My influences are a bit weird considering most of the time I listen to metalcore / other metal related music, and bar a few songs that doesn't translate that much into my music bar my writing style. Particular tracks from a variety of video game OSTs have also been a huge influence for me, everything from Sinnoh's wonderful immersive roaming tracks, to Halo 3 ODST's piano backdrops.

Specific Influences: Celldweller, Olafur Arnalds, Black Veil Brides, Red, Mayday Parade, Junichi Masuda, Avenged Sevenfold, Of Mice and Men.

Requests / Other Info: If you have a cool project of some kind (you're designing a video game / mod / whatever), I'm always open to collaboration! I don't take requests for individual non-project material (it takes me long enough as is to make music) though, however if a bunch of people do want me to make a particular remix of some kind I'll usually look into it and see if it's appealing. If you want to use any of my music for your Youtube Channel, that's totally fine as long as I'm credited somewhere (description, in the video, any of that, doesn't matter to me). All of my music is up on Youtube, Spotify, Tidal, Itunes, all of that stuff. (I'm also always open to helping Smogon with any Youtube / other projects).

What I'm Doing Now: I'm currently working on multiple stand-alone singles and I just released my 16th EP 'Only the Symptom.' I'm also working on several side projects.

It's been a while since I've been on Smogon, and I wanted to update this thread since I've released multiple new albums and EPs since the last time I was on here.

Wow I'm actually replying someone quickly for once, haven't been active on Smogon in a while. However, I just released my tenth full length album. I honestly can't believe I've come this far in my music career, and I wanted to share this milestone of mine with y'all! (I also made the artwork), this album is for fans of Synthwave, Techno, Dubwave, and Classical music - https://blackmalachite.bandcamp.com/album/cyber-asylum

For once I'm not having a year gap between posts. Why you might ask? Well, because I have two new releases!

One is a complete remaster of my second album 'Void' that I released back in 2016. This was my first foray into the field of ambient music and it helped really cement my love for atmosphere in music after I worked in the genre for the first time.

'Void [Redux]' - https://blackmalachite.bandcamp.com/album/void-redux

Another is a compilation of unused demo tracks and remasters of tracks from various periods in my discography. I decided to release both of these remasters so close together as a way to close out the year.

'Time Has No Master - Black Malachite Remasters' - https://blackmalachite.bandcamp.com/album/time-has-no-master-black-malachite-remasters

I hope you all enjoy! The previous post has all of the other releases that I put out earlier in 2019.

I listened to the entirety of As We Roam Amongst the Stars, and I really like it! It's exactly the kind of soft, thoughtful music I like to listen to while I'm drawing or reading. It's cool just how many musical styles you were able to weave into this album while keeping the feel of it relatively consistent; I kept getting surprised by shifts in tone and instrumentation, sometimes in the same song, but it was never so dramatic that it took me out of the experience of listening to it. Some of my favorites from that album are In Her Arms I Am Complete, Candlelight in Space, and Why Can't We See. I'll try listening to more of your stuff in the future when I can!

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! If there's one thing that I absolutely love doing in my music, it's tonal shifts, key changes, and multi-genre tracks. Classical and ambient are easily my favorite genres to work in, with metalcore being a close third. I hope you listen to some of my other work as well when you get the chance, I'd love to hear what you think!

Another great album! I can't think of much in the way of in-depth critique to provide, but I like how the album ends with Shadows and Light, two tracks that are sort of melancholy in distinct ways, which cap off the experience of the album pretty well. I'd say my favorite track on here is Neon Downpour; It has a different feel than the rest of the album, but I don't really have the vocabulary to describe what feels so different about it to me. The faster pace interspersed with the longer, drawn-out instrumentation just kinda resonates with me. Thanks again for sharing your music!

Thank you so much man I seriously appreciate that! Neon Downpour was honestly one I was unsure about including originally, but I ended up keeping it in there. This album went through a lot of different phases while I was making it. I was thinking about singing over some of the tracks, but I still feel my vocals aren't strong enough yet.

Hey there everyone! I'm back again, with what you might ask? Two brand new EPs! I figure that 2020 is most likely going to be the year of a lot of smaller releases, as I'm currently working on a massive Black Malachite project with voice actors. Either way, I'm still absolutely happy with how these smaller releases turned out.

EP #17: 'What Are We, If We Aren't Dead'
Genres: Industrial, Post-Metal, Techno
Link: https://blackmalachite.bandcamp.com/album/what-are-we-if-we-arent-dead-ep

Description: This album was a little weird to work on, but I decided to tap into my edgier experimental side and some of my more raunchy influences like Nine Inch Nails, Converge, early Celldweller, etc. I think "Acid Laced Serenade" is one of the best songs I've probably ever done, and production wise I think I did a great job with it too.

EP #18: 'Atmospherics'
Genres: Synthwave
Link: https://blackmalachite.bandcamp.com/album/atmospherics-ep

Description: A pretty straightforward Synthwave EP, and one that was really fun to make overall. Nothing crazy, nothing experimental. The final track (and my favorite off of it) "Our Escape" is a callback to my debut album from 2016, to the track "The Great Escape" which had a completely different tone and mood.

Hey everyone, I just released my new album 'The Rain: It Never Ends' which you can listen to and / or purchase on Bandcamp here - https://blackmalachite.bandcamp.com/album/the-rain-it-never-ends

I also just lost my job due to COVID tanking the business I worked for, so my entire discography is discounted by 90% right now. $12 for 16 albums, 18 EPs, and a ton of other awesome songs. Over 250 songs for the price of a regular album.

Stay safe, clean, and happy everyone!

I've got a new streaming video up for the lead single from my recently released 16th album, if you're in the mood for 90s inspired techno, come check it out -

After four years of work, I'm ending my Black Malachite music project, but not my career in music or even the use of Black Malachite in other mediums.

"This is the end of Black Malachite's music, but not the end of my creative or music career.

It's been four years, 16 albums, 18 EPs, literally hundreds of songs. I finally feel like with this project I've said all that I needed to say.

Over 750,000 streams total across all platforms, listeners on every continent of this planet. I'm absolutely humbled and in awe of the support I've gotten over nearly half a decade.

I'm so happy to have talked to so many of you who enjoyed so much of my music. Whether you were an early fan who hopped on the Distortion World Soundcloud teaser hype on various music forums back in early 2016, to the large number of you who hopped on board when "Gather Yourself" from Oblivion of Reality got featured on several of Apple's official playlists, you're all absolutely incredible.

So with this goodbye I leave several things for all of you. Some tangible, some are glimpses of what is to come.

The Tangible:

The final Black Malachite song "We Will Meet Again" - https://blackmalachite.bandcamp.com/track/we-will-meet-again
My entire discography of over 300 songs will permanently be discounted to 90% off. $12.20 for over 300 songs, the price of a single CD.

The Future:

I'm starting several new projects, some solo, some with other people. I'll be announcing more about this in the future. Along with this, I'll still be using the name Black Malachite for other projects including YouTube, Literature, and other as of yet unannounced projects.
:)
The future is bright and big! I hope you can all join me on this grand new chapter as I enter this new part of my life! Without all the support I've gotten from so many people, I would not exist. Thank you.

- Black Malachite"
