Blaziken Moveset Trials

Blaziken (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 204 Atk/204 Spd/102 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Sky Uppercut
- Flamethrower/ Fire Blast
- Thunderpunch/ Night Slash/ HP Ice
- Stone Edge

It gets it to 270 which beats Addy heracross who would otherwise pluck its feathers. The thing is that I wanted to create a physical counterpart to Mixape. the only problems i note is that it cant really beat swampert or any of the dragons save dragonite and maybe a Kingdra not in rain dance. However it takes care of skarm/bliss. I might ditch thunderpunch for hp ice which would cover the grounds and some flyig types and which would complement stone edge. Also Night slash is a candidate for killing dusknoir and cresselia.

Any suggestions?

Blaziken DOES have higher offenses than Infernape, but it's speed is sucktacular. I would try an Agility set for a late game sweep, with Sky Uppercut, Flamethrower/Blaze Kick, Agility and Baton Pass. That way you could sweep until you're walled, and then pass the speed boost to something like Heracross and own some stuff.

Baton Pass is pretty much the only trick Blaziken has over the flaming monkey, so use it.

eh ... I don't understand.

If you need a blaziken moveset the one in the analysis is the best...

otherwise skiddle is right in that you should usually be agilipassing with blaziken if using him.

If you want a different / unique Mixape you could max both offensive stats and use Agility with no Speed at all... that's something Infernape can't do, I guess.

Definitely run Night Slash, as Cresselia is one of the few walls MixApe has trouble breaking.

Infernape still does this like trillions of times better then blaziken can. Blaziken does have very high attack stats though and is a good candidate for subpunching, CB, CS, etc. i use to run

I've been testing around this:

Blaziken @ Liechi Berry
Naughty Nature
204 Atk/176 SpA/128 Speed
- Substitute
- Agility
- Overheat
- Reversal

Simple looking set so I'm sure it doesn't need explaining. I never really realised how common weather effects were until I started testing it though! They're bloody everywhere so pack a weather changer. And a spinner.

Outspeeds Adamant ScarfGarchomp after Agility, Blaze'd Overheat OHKO's Gliscor, Donphan, Weezing, 252/0 Spiritomb, Hippowdon and generally wrecks everything that would block Reversal. It's also lovely for earlier hit and run assaults. There's been many times where I've subbed the switch and decided that it's too early to go for full power, so just unleash an Overheat from 300SpA to soften up the counter.

Deadly when set up, but with priority attacks, absurdly fast Scarfers, weather effects and Garchomp and Salamence rife the test was actually a bit of a failure. Would be fun if somesort of BL metagame ever develops though because I do love Blaziken.

I've used Reversal Blaziken before (standard Swords Dance/Reversal/Endure/Blaze Kick), and they can work very well with the right support. Swords Danced, Blaze-boosted, Sun-boosted Blaze Kick OHKOs Gliscor, which is worth noting. I've come back from 5-1 leads by just Enduring on that Azelf Psychic, then OHKOing everything late-game.

Unfortunately, it rarely works out, only in very situational circumstances. But when it does work, though, it's a lot of fun to use. I, like Lee, like Blaziken, hence my alternate user name Blaziken_57.

I love Blaziken too.

Blaziken @ Life Orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd; Adamant
- Swords Dance
- Sky Uppercut
- Blaze Kick / Fire Punch
- Night Slash

The main gimmick of this set is Night Slash, which owns the "sturdy floating Psychic type" Pokémon that beat Blaziken. It'd be nice if HP Grass could fit here for Hippo, but it really doesn't.

You could always use Flare Blitz over Blaze Kick thus making Night Slash redundant as it does more damage to those pesky sturdy floating Psychics (180BP vs 140BP). This frees up a slot for Hidden Power, although I'd much rather use Ice>Grass because Salamence just loves to switch into Blaziken. Unfortunatley, there's still an inferiority complex against Infernape, as monkey boy's speed more than makes up for his lower Attack. Also, don't forget that Infernape learns Shadow Claw which is pretty much the same move as Night Slash.

For reference, here's a list of semi-usable moves that Blaziken has access to that Infernape doesn't:

Focus Energy
Quick Attack
Brave Bird
Sky Uppercut
Night Slash
Reversal
Crush Claw
Baton Pass
Agility
Mirror Move

It's been said many times, but the only reason to use Blaziken is for Baton Passing, Reversal abuse and maybe Choice sets but all other sets will just lead people to say "Lol Infernape." The thing is, his typing and stats mean that he isn't particularly good at any of those roles. :X

I am making a BL team. Using that moveset pretty much beats the majority of walls that comes its way. I needed a minimum speed in order to outrun a few pokemon but besides that/// it works nicely. Compare it to infernape all you want, but Infernape is OU and not BL and for a pure bl team the blaziken works.

I've been trying this novelty set out on Shoddy as a lead, and it's certainly fun to use, for what that's worth.

Blaziken
- Fire Blast
- Sky Uppercut
- Agility
- Mirror Move
Item: Lum Berry
Ability: Blaze
Nature: Lonely
EVs: 252 HP, 44 Atk, 76 Def, 80 SpAtk, 58 Spd

If you're up against something faster, use Agility. If the opponent uses a move on you that it can't take itself (like Hypnosis), use Mirror Move. This is, of course, a surprise set. If it were to become common (which seems unlikely), much of its utility would be lost.
