Diplomacy Blind Date Diplomacy - GAME OVER (7-way draw)

Good game everyone!

I originally didn't intend to play this because it seemed too difficult for me so I signed up as a sub just in case. Early it was rough because I had to catch up in mafia (was subbed in there as well) and try to talk to people after they started forming alliances or no aggression pacts here. Hopefully I did a positive impact on my country or at least I wasn't a burden.
Honestly I tried to read a guide but gave up because for every positive thing it said it listed like 5 disadvantages or troubles (depressing :blobsad: ) and it didn't even apply well to this format so I went in with little experience and knowledge. I basically went full instinct mode. Probably should have be more involved with suggestions in orders but I don't think I would do a better job that m2h in orders, he played really well this game!

This is just a function of a stakes-less game. I said this all the way back in the revival game, but if there are tournament points or money on the line I think people will be far less willing to draw.
im down for tournament points, but if people had to pay money to join i suspect smog dip will die soon as me (and prolly other ppl) are not willing to put money on online forum stuff rofl

Well I meant more in terms of someone else providing it instead of ppl putting up their own cash

Also it was more of a food for thought kinda thing instead of a real proposal

Good game everyone. I was a bit disappointed that we had to go for a 7-way split. I was hoping for a clear winner for once.

Anyway, earlygame felt relatively standard. I mostly tried to focus on Russia while paying attention to what HydrogenHydreigon was saying. Very early, this caused some issues with France/Germany as I needed to keep that border secure over choosing sides. My memory between then and Germany is mostly forgotten, alas.

I AM RECONSTRUCTING MY REASONING FROM WHAT I SEE I DID. When I saw some chaos in the southeast, and HH said it was up to his general to pick who to side with, I decided that since Moscow and Tunis are usually center 18, I'd go for both. That meant joining Germany. I didn't foresee the war spreading and convincing Germany to stab.

I also would have turned on a dime if HH had said to ally with France instead of saying that from my actions, we were allying Germany. Just like I turned on a dime at the end.

Speaking of the end: after the last three games and losing control of my home centers, I was ready to use the fleets to fight for second place in an Austria victory as a "Fuck you all and the horses you rode in on" out of frustration, since this would have been the first time I had agency to impact the game as something other than a steak to carve up (since HH was being quiet and his last command had involved getting home centers back).

But then HH told me to help with the stalemate line, so I switched to not just helping, but mentally planning how I could move my fleets to help break through and win instead of just stalemating.

After all, my rule was that, outside of something clearly foolish, he had an iron grip on policy, and I would act at least within the spirit of that. In retrospect siding with Germany was a mistake, but I can't blame him since he gave me the choice, then built off that. (I wish there'd been a way to let him know what my policy on his policies was.)

Congrats to Lechen (or whatever the Like Redeem renamed you... "The Worst Couple"?) for outmaneuvering me brilliantly with that convoy. I didn't see it coming. At Pulsar: I thought for sure you'd disband that fleet to concentrate on the mainland. That cost me, slowed me down a lot. The stab definitely hurt me a lot, but the way the game went, well, we saw that. A somewhat comeback. But the stab itself was the catalyst for my three games of frustration blasting out in a fight-for-second-while-dragging-F/G-down until sunny got HH to tell me to knock it off.

GG WP everyone.
