Zygarde-Complete @ Leftovers
Ability: Power Construct
EVs: 220 Atk / 56 SpD / 232 Spe

Toxapex @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic Spikes
- Scald
- Recover
- Haze

I use Pigeons' sample HO very often and I've noticed that Toxapex can be very annoying as it checks his fairyceus, POgre, Steelceus and Marshadow to some extent as well. Zygarde is an absolute beast on toxic spikes and it can sweep Pigeon's team if you manage to poison POgre and Fairy Arceus.
We can lead zygarde vs his excadrill. Excadrill is set up fodder for sub dd Zygarde so it is forced to switch to Fairyceus. Toxapex can come in vs Fairyceus and get Toxic Spikes up. Excadrill can try to spin the toxic spikes but toxapex can fish for burns with scald and if burned, Toxapex will guaranteed get atleast 1 layer of toxic spikes which is enough for Zygarde to sweep. If not, we can bring Toxapex later in the game and set up toxic spikes. Toxic Spikes ensure that Zygarde can set up DDances without worrying about Fairyceus and POgre. Leftovers ensure recovery and power construct regains a very good amount of hp as well.
Zygarde can usually beat steelceus, marshadow and rayquaza 1v1 and Toxapex checks Fairyceus and Pogre which means we can beat his entire team on paper. However, +1 Marsh can be a threat to our core so that is something we need to play around with.

Pigeon's team is extremely solid and consistent for a hyper offense and I think that this is the closest I can get to beat it with a core of 2 pokemons.

Xerneas @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Toxic
- Aromatherapy
- Defog
After careful thought, I have to come to realize that the core of Stealth Rock + Swords Dance Primal Groudon and Scarf Xerneas handles this week's team well. Marshadow and Mega Rayquaza were already said to be huge threats, but scarf Xerneas easily dispatches of them (unless Rayquaza gets 2 Dragon Dances up, also Xerneas obviously can't switch in). The Excadrill set lacks Earthquake so Primal Groudon can easily dispatch it and set Stealth Rock no problem while only fearing Toxic, however, Xerneas runs Aromatherapy so it doesn't have to worry much. Stealth Rock will put some pressure on the team due to the lack of hazard removal after Excadrill is removed from play, then again, while the Arceus formes have Recover, Groudon easily dispatches of Steelceus while taking 1 Earth Power (even at +1), but does need some boosting to help beat Fairyceus. Thus, these two Pokemon cover the given team well.

+2 156+ Atk Groudon-Primal Precipice Blades vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Arceus-Fairy: 331-391 (75 - 88.6%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+4 156+ Atk Groudon-Primal Precipice Blades vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Arceus-Fairy: 496-585 (112.4 - 132.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
156+ Atk Groudon-Primal Precipice Blades vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kyogre-Primal: 285-336 (83.5 - 98.5%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Kyogre-Primal Ice Beam vs. 144 HP / 56 SpD Groudon-Primal: 141-167 (37.4 - 44.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Arceus-Steel Earth Power vs. 144 HP / 56 SpD Groudon-Primal: 192-226 (50.9 - 59.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (see, eats 1 Earth Power and then OHKOs back)

252+ SpA Fairy Aura Xerneas Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kyogre-Primal: 153-180 (44.8 - 52.7%) -- 22.7% chance to 2HKO (chips, Groudon finishes the Kyogre off)

Groudon-Primal @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Precipice Blades
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Tail
- Toxic

Stakataka @ Air Balloon
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Lonely Nature
IVs: 0 Def / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock

Stakatacka takes full advantage of that lead excadrill, evading an earthquake with its nifty balloon and setting up a nice trick room. Should the opponent then choose to sack excadrill, beast boost allows stakatacka to begin powering up enough to sweep right off the bat. Marshadow is threatening to Stakataka, however it must use bulk up at least once in order to knock him out. (252 Atk Marshadow Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 4- Def Chople Berry Stakataka: 236-278 (72.3 - 85.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO) Kyogre is a big threat to this core, as Stakataka needs to be at +2 just to have a chance of knocking it out.

Groudon Primal is there to handle the bulky arceus forms and kyogre. Fully spdef, with dragon tail to smash away megaray switchins, as well as marsh if it tries to bulk up on you. Finally, toxic is there to pressure arc fairy.

Swords Dance Ultra Necrozma + Geomancy Xerneas
xerneas.gif
Necrozma-Dusk-Mane @ Ultranecrozium Z
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sunsteel Strike
- Earthquake
- Photon Geyser

Xerneas @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 176 HP / 28 Def / 252 SpA / 52 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast
- Thunder

Swords Dance Ultra Necrozma and Geomancy Xerneas are both frightening sweepers that are only checked by the two priority users in Marshadow and Rayquaza-Mega on this team. As such, by utilizing the two in tandem, there simply is not enough priority to stop the two together, making it easy for one to aid in the other sweeping later on.

The sets are fairly standard, with Sunsteel Strike utilized here over Stone Edge to hit fairies, in particular breaking the Arceus-Fairy. Xerneas runs the standard Geomancy set, with Focus Blast to break past Arceus-Steel.

The voting stage is over, and while it was extremely close we do have a winner:
Catalystic - 7
Arushi - 6
Skarph - 3
Congrats Cata!

Our next team is from Arushi:

This team utilises Mega Gengar hugely with Pokemon such as Marshadow, CM Refresh Arceus-Dark and Primal Kyogre. Mega Gengar is able to remove the likes of Ferrothorn for physical Primal Kyogre, as well as Arceus-Poison and Arceus-Fairy for both Marshadow and Arceus-Dark. Arceus-Fairy holds the team together by stopping the likes of Marshadow and Yveltal as well as being the Stealth Rock user of the team. Finally, Dusk Mane provides the Xerneas check and the use of weakness policy can be used very effectively late game.

Deadline for core submissions is Saturday.

Reserving Mega Gengar + Yveltal
gengar-mega.gif

yveltal.gif

Any viable set of these two should work, but Stallbreaker + 3 attacks Gengar is probably the best for this team specifically, as Gengar is potentially even able to finish off Arceus-Dark on a double.

Simple core, use Gengar to trap Arceus-Fairy and demolish the rest of the team.

Gengar-Mega @ Gengarite

Pretty much the same as the Smogon GeoXern set, except in AG, at least in my opinion, Psyshock is preferred over Focus Blast as it is useful in hitting the pink mons and Arceus-Poison (although neither are on this team, but generally it is better). Psyshock can also OHKO MGar on the switch while you have SR up, if you predict it, and also it ensure the OHKO on MGar after a Geomancy, unlike Moonblast and Thunder (as Thunder misses all the time). I use HP EVs on Xerneas as it allows for setup on Arceus Forms with less chip so revenging it with priority is harder. 92 is speed there in order to have higher speed then Adamant Dusk Manes, people who copy the Smogon Set Xerneas, and Deoxys-Speed after a Geomancy.

Xerneas is able to setup on Darkceus, Fairyceus even Kyogre easily with HP to spare, in Kogre's case it takes a lot of damage but this is not an issue due to a lack of priority on the team. The team also lacks a repeatedly usable Xern counter, so these weaknesses can be exploited by the use of two Geomancy Xerneas, one possibly killing one teammate and dealing heavy damage on Necrozma Dusk Mane and the second being able to break through Dusk Mane and subsequently, the entire team.

4 SpA Dread Plate Arceus-Dark Judgment vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Xerneas: 77-91 (19.5 - 23.1%) -- possible 5HKO
0 SpA Pixie Plate Arceus-Fairy Judgment vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Fairy Aura Xerneas: 204-241 (51.9 - 61.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Kyogre-Primal Liquidation vs. 164 HP / 0 Def Xerneas in Heavy Rain: 267-315 (61.5 - 72.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

scarf ogre can break through this team due to the lack of switch ins and priority. after deo-speed sets up rocks, water spout ohkos marsh, mgar, dusk mane, and almost certainly ohkos fairyceus and darkceus

252+ SpA Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Arceus-Fairy in Rain: 382-451 (86 - 101.5%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

thunder does an alright-ish amount to pogre but, after a bit of chip on pogre water spout can claim and sweep

252+ SpA Kyogre Thunder vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kyogre-Primal: 194-230 (56.8 - 67.4%)

252+ SpA Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kyogre-Primal in Heavy Rain: 149-176 (43.6 - 51.6%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

here's a replay (keep in mind that the best moves are not picked in this game. this is an example to show that after pogre gets chipped, scarf ogre can go brazy):

perish trapper gengar is a pretty underrated threat especially against teams that use arceus-dark as their main gengar check. most people will bring in arceus-dark when gengar mega evolves. you set up a sub, perish song, and disable judgment. gengar also traps arceus-fairy and can be a panic check to the opposing gengar. you also ohko marshadow with shadow ball because it's not running sneak, but you live sneak anyway thanks to the hp. it also deals a heavy chunk to dusk mane and can perish song in case of an emergency to stop the sweep.

rock polish groudon is a huge threat to this team because the only check is an offensive kyogre and there's absolutely no priority to stop it. chipping kyogre into blades range is fairly easy with gengar or other teammates, and groudon is able to rock polish on a lot. only arceus-dark and arceus-fairy could survive fairly easily to chip it into range of something, but they're taken care of by gengar. overall these two can easily shred this team if played well.

- Hurricane
- Sleep Powder
- Substitute
- Quiver Dance
These two Pokemon are both pretty commonplace on Sticky Web teams, together they form a formidable core for breaking Arushi's team. Looking at her build I could tell right away that her counterplay to Vivillon was extremely limited given the lack of a Perish Song Arceus or Magearna. The main thing that holds it back from outright 6-0ing is the fact that most of Arushi's team is faster, but that's easy to get around with Sticky Web. Conveniently her team is also lacking a Defog user, so once Sticky Web goes up it's staying there for the entire game. While Smeargle is usually my preferred setter, Shuckle works much better here due to its one-time Taunt immunity from Mental Herb, which allows it to set Sticky Web up even against Taunt Mega Gengar. From there, provided Vivillon gets in safely, sweeping should be relatively easy with the combination of Substitute, Sleep Powder and Quiver Dance shutting down Arushi's whole team.

Using Polar Vivillon is important because it is the best looking Vivillon form, and winning with stylish mons is always better. Shiny Shuckle must accompany for maximum colour synergy.

*Note the skymin set is the one i submitted to the VR a while back, so i can say its properly tested.*
Z-Celebrate Skymin poses a huge threat to this team, mainly due to the lack of priority moves and kill power if it comes in. the set that im running can easily 2hko everything on this team, while nothing can 2hko it effectively. No toxic users means that Skymin has no fear of setting up on anything too.
Ferrothorn is to just provide an escape from pogre, a good switch in to fairyceus, a rocks setter and to ensure certain calcs ive listed below.
+1 88 SpA Shaymin-Sky Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Prism Armor Necrozma-Dusk-Mane: 171-202 (51 - 60.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

mmy can setup a calm mind on unicorn, threaten out t-series and mr. mouse due to it being faster, and ohko dark horse, freeze and mr. lion at +1. however, the only pokemon which it can setup on is unicorn, which is why i added another threatening setup sweeper that forces it in, bulk up marshadow. it can setup on dark horse and mr. lion, as well as freeze, the pokemon mmy doesn’t like, and at +1 it’s still really threatening. the only lone pokemon that can beat it is unicorn, or hoping for a roll with freeze. even if marshadow dies to unicorn, you’ve given a setup opportunity for mmy to win.
a reliable rocker would be really nice for this core, ensuring you can ohko kyogre with marshadow at +1.

+1 252 SpA Mewtwo-Mega-Y Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Prism Armor Necrozma-Dusk-Mane: 339-400 (101.1 - 119.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

With no priority or choice scarf users this team falls pretty flat against Psyspam, potentially being swept with a single deoxys. Deoxys-Attack outspeeds every member of the opposing team, barring a Rock Polished Dusk Mane, and under psychic terrain OHKO's every team member at +2.

Tapu Lele leads well against this team, setting psychic terrain, denying set up on dusk mane with taunt and breaking substitutes of Mega-Gengar and Marshadow with moonblast. Hazards are kept off with magic coat, or you can hard switch to Deoxys on stealth rocks if you like.

Provided it switches in at full hp, probably by sacrificing Tapu Lele, Deoxys-Attack can set up on every pokemon on the opposing team due to its focus sash and superior speed. Once set up Deoxys uses its coverage and high spA to sweep the opposing team.

+2 252+ SpA Deoxys-Attack Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kyogre-Primal in Psychic Terrain: 412-486 (120.8 - 142.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Ho-oh really has no switch ins, with sacred fire 2HKOing or OHKOing everything on the team, while Brave Bird OHKOs Primal-Kyogre. Groudon-Primal also 2HKOs everything, provides toxic support, and checks Primal-Kyogre. Arceus-Dark, while it looks like it may be able to boost past this core, actually ends up being too pressured by bulky band Ho-oh and cannot win.

This is a solid core in general and seems to do particularly well against this build, although a defensive Arceus that can take on Marshadow and Physical POgre would be appreciated as well.
