Broken Bones and Fractures

Have you ever broken or fractured a bone? Whether it being sports related or just being a stupid kid when you were younger.

I did when I was 5 yrs old. I was walking home from school with my mum and little sister one day, then for some reason I decided to run across the road. I was almost at the other side when a car crashed into my left leg and I was stuck under the car helplessly. The driver was a woman. I guess it really wasn't my fault and the driver's fault. I was young and didn't know much about crossing the road and the driver should have been more careful driving near a school. It was a really bad experience.

i love that sentence in the middle of your paragraph. "the driver was a woman." lol

i've broken a lot of bones but most were just minor like fingers, toes and my nose a few times. the only bad injuries that i've had are my collarbone from faceplanting when my front brakes on my bicycle got stuck and when i dislocated my shoulder during a lacrosse game.

I broke my left collar bone last July playing tennis. Whilst playing an awkward shot I followed through with my racquet incorrectly and hit my collar bone, snapping it clean in half. Really painful.

broke my elbow when i was 4 when i fell off a stool and hit a heater

fractured my wrist when i was 7 i think. i fell out of a tree, then when running back into the house i fell down in the corridor which has wooden floorboards and hit my wrist again. =/

then fractured my pinky finger when i was 8 because someone sat on it olo.

I can't say I have, but I have a cool story about my father.

My dad was a firefighter back in Texas for a long before we moved up to Illinois. Since we moved he had to go through the classes and everything else again to be a firefighter again.

Sometime in the middle of the courses, he was working with a two-story building and getting in the top window. He was at the top of the ladder, and unbeknownst to the instructor, no one was holding the ladder. The ladder slipped and my dad feel 2 stories straight down...

...he landed right on his two feet, standing up.

He wasn't sure if anything had been broken, so he drove himself to the hospital.

It turns out both of his feet were broken. 30 min. after driving, he was in a wheelchair, and had to delay becoming a firefighter for a whole year.

To this day, he can't run, and his right foot makes popping noises when he walks, but he is a firefighter again, so he's happy.

I'm a really reckless person and I tend to injure myself often but haven't broken anything yet. I've sprained both wrists though, but that's it.

I tripped over a kickball when I was 6 and broke my arm, and fell and sprained my wrist a couple years ago while running outside. Yeah I'm a pretty clumsy person =[

that has to suck. around christmas i fractured my ankle while running to get a lob in the last match of a tournament during the last point of the match. i kinda ran over my foot, i dont even know how.

also, when i was little, i got hit by a pitch playing in little league, finished the game, and didnt know it was fractured until i went to the hospital after noticing it hurt when the team went to get ice cream. it was the last game of the season. coincidence?

I broke my collarbone going down a hill in roller blades when I was in the 3rd grade. I didn't even feel it and went home but I went to the doctor the next day.

It did hurt a lot after the doctor put the sling on.

Never had any bone related injury, and hope to never have one in the future!
Many excruciatingly painful experiences though :(

Never been to hospital with a broken bone or that but...

When we were in Paris on a school trip ages about five years ago I fell when ice skating. I landed really awkwardly, kind of sprawled out on my chest with both arms in front/underneath me. I couldn't move them for the rest of that day, or the next. I was doing taekwon-do at the time, and couldn't punch at full force for around a month afterwards.

I'm not sure if I actually broke them or what, never went to the doctor or anything anyways, and had no after effects so it's all good I guess!

I broke my arm when I was 6. I was sitting in a hospital waiting room with my dad while my little brother was having a checkup meeting, and I fell awkwardly off my chair.

i have 2 bone-breaking incidents.

the first one was around year 8 in HS. this guy i knew had a crush on a chick in another class. every time she's brought uo into a conversation he would go 'oh nyeah!'. so one lunch time she went to our form room and then walked out. i went 'o nyeah' to tease him and we started play fighting. i was on the foor and he body slammed me. his ass ended up breaking both of the bones in my right leg :D.

the second time was more manly. i was playing american football in year 12, the ball popped out from the ball carrier and i went to recover the fumble. i tried to make some yardage afterwards and this guy from the
rugby team blindsided me. broke my collarbone and tehy wouldn't even give me writer in my exam :O . still a bit uneven now, but o well.

My story sorta beats all of yours.

I cant be bothered telling it properly, but when I was little I did a forward roll down a staircase. Intentionally.

All I broke was my collarbone, which kinda surprses me when I think about it. It seems like the sorta thing that would be more fatal.

Have a nice day.

Not officially, but I'm uncertain as to whether I actually fractured my wrist snowboarding about 6 years ago - hurt more than anything ever and couldn't move it properly for months.. couldn't move it without it hurting for about three years, still can't wave it around.
Never bothered to go get it checked, though.

About 4/5 years ago, was playing rugby at school (sorta like american football for all you yanks). Was tackled by the two biggest people in the year at the same time and managed to smash my wrist. I go to hospital, wait 3 hours in A&E while my wirst got worse and worse, until I finally got my wrist checked.

Predictably, I get stuck with the trainee nurse, giving me the shittest cast I've ever had. A couple of days later, I wake up in the biggest pain ive ever felt my whole life. Rush off to hospital (this time to a private and therefore NOT shit and soul destroying) to find out the fractured wrist bone dislocated itself down my arm.

Luckily for me, all I needed was a couple of operations and like 10 xrays, and no metal plates or pins or wtvr.

Oh and akuchi, I'm no doctor but that sounds like the kind of thing you should go get checked, if you want to use your wrist properly ever again.

I've broken 3 toes by jumping into the ocean last summer because rocks were covered by the water, was a terrible vacation =/

nothing else that bad with bones/fractures, but when I was little I was attacked by a pitbull and I am still afraid of them today

I've never broken anything (thankfully), I usually play it safe, and I'm kinda clumsy but I'm always able to catch myself, before injury comes. The only thing I ever needed done was surgery on my tounge because when I was 10, i rode a bike that did not have a proper braking system, and I was unable to stop and I hit the pavement face first. For some odd reason, everything on my face was fine, except my tounge was split all the way back to my throat.

lol you instinctively stuck out your tongue to break the fall?

the only bone i've ever broken was my collarbone. playing ball hockey, i got hit into the boards while i was running full speed toward them (and was about to stop). you don't wear any shoulder protection in ball hockey, so it was enough for a fracture.

Do teeth count as bones?

If so, I broke my right front incisor while swimming about 6 years ago. Me and a friend were horsing about in the pool one fine summer day and she decided it would be a right old laugh if she jumped on me. I was forcefully pushed face first down to the bottom of the pool and my mouth hit the tiles at the bottom. It wasn't until ten mintues later when I got out of the pool that I realized more than half of my tooth was missing.

It didn't hurt, but the nerve in the middle of the tooth was exposed to the air and stung every time I ate or breathed through my mouth. I had to wait until the next day to go to the dentist, which meant I had to go about 18 hours with half a tooth. I got a cap put on it at the dentist's, and it's been there ever since.

Honestly, I'm not sure what happened. I saw pavement as I went down. Next thing I knew I was looking at the blood and I remember I couldn't cry out because the pain in my mouth was unreal. This happened in a neighborhood, so my mom was a short walk away and then she took me to the hospital.
