Built For Perfection

INTRODUCTION:

This team is my pride and joy. It if the team that I built myself without any outside help and I know that it isn't amazing, but I really want to keep all my team members. So I am just posting here to see if there is any way to improve my team's movesets or held items/abilities. Well let me introduce you to the squad. I am fairly new to the whole team building thing so I would really appreciate some feedback and reasoning why you are suggesting what you are suggesting.

TEAM BUILDING PROCESS:
Well I knew that Aerodactyl was a very solid lead with both Taunt and Stealth Rock so I first decieded to use him. I also like that Aerodactyl is very fast and Stone Edge is a very powerful move and even more so that it is a STAB move.

After deciding on Aerodactyl I needed something to cover his weaknesses so I picked Mismagius to learn Thunderbolt for Aerodactyl's water weakness. Mismagius is also a pretty fast and strong Ghost-Type so I thought she would make a nice addition to the team.

I also wanted to have a nice "takny" Water-Type, and I always enjoyed Blastoise so I thought why not. Blastiose is a decent Pokemon and knows Ice Beam which is nice to have on every team against those pesky Dragon-Types.

Well to complement my nice Water-Type I needed a strong Fire-Type as well, so who other than Arcanine. I love Arcanine and Flare Blitz is an awesome move, and Extremespeed is always nice to have just in case of quick elimination.

The last two additions to my team really came at the same time. I knew I wanted a Primeape because he is just so awesome and Close Combat STAB is ridiculous. I also knew I wanted a strong Flying-Type and Honchcrow was my decision. I liked have the option of Sucker Punch for psychics on Honchcrow.

MY TEAM:
Changes in BLUE

aerodactyl.jpg

Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Jolly Nature [+Speed, -Special Attack]
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Tail

Aerodactyl serves as my Lead. I send him out to quickly set up Stealth Rock and take out any weak opposition with Stone Edge and Aqua Tail. I gave him a Rock Incense to make his Stone Edge even a more powerful STAB move and it prove quite efficient in battle. His ability, Pressure, I chose because I had no need for Rock Head or Unnerve so I figured Pressure would fit just fine. I maxed out his Speed with EV's so that he would be able to set up Stealth Rock quickly. I also chose to max out Attack for the sole purpose that Stone Edge just does massive damage to almost everything. His moveset was very easy to pick. Taunt is there for the opponents leads to prevent Dual-Screens and such. Stealth Rock is obviously there to damage any incoming Pokemon for a slight advantage. Stone Edge is just a power move and Aqua Tail serves mainly against any Ground or Rock-Type that comes out as a lead against my Aerodactyl.

Mismagius @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 HP
Calm Nature [+Special Defense, -Attack]
- Shadow Ball
- Nasty Plot
- Substitute
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

Mismagius is a very nice addition to my team. She is a very good offensive attribute to my team with Shadow Ball STAB and Nasty Plot to make it even more scary. Mismagius is holding Leftovers because it is just nice to have. My EV distribution was to max out Special Attack and HP so that she was strong and lasted long. Shadow Ball and Nasty Plot complement each other very nicely and can take out a lot of strong threats. Thunderbolt is here because of the very high Special Attack that Mismagius has. HP Fighting was my defense against Normal Types and has worked very nice. With Mismagius I feel like I could be doing something better but I am not quite sure what to change or if I need to change anything at all.

Blastoise @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDef
Bold Nature [+Defense, -Attack]
- Toxic
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin
- Scald

Blastoise I like to have because he is just a decent Water-Type Pokemon and a very reliable Spinner and with Leftovers it can be pretty annoying to deal with. With my Blastoise I split up my EV's into Special Defense and Special Attack because I wanted him to be kind of a tank with a nice Ice Beam shot. His moveset involves Toxic which is nice to take out bigger threats slowly. Ice Beam against Dragon's and Flying-Type's. Rapid Spin to dispel any Spikes, Poison Spikes or Stealth Rocks. Scald is a nice STAB move and I really enjoy the chance to burn the target because it happens more than I would think.

Arcanine @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature [+Speed, -Special Attack]
- Close Combat
- ExtremeSpeed
- Flare Blitz
- Wild Charge

I absolutely LOVE Arcanine. He was always one of my favorite Pokemon so I try to incorporate him into any team I can. I gave him Leftovers just because and Intimidate is a very useful ability I find. My EV's on Arcanine are split between Speed and Attack so he is kind of a sweeper. His moves are kind of strange but I found that they work really well. First I have Close Combat for Dark and Normal-Type's. ExtremeSpeed is very fast and pretty hard hitting so it is a must have in mu opinion. Flare Blitz is just a very powerful STAB move for him and Wild Charge is to take out Water-Types who think they are faster than him.

Ash's_Heracross.png

Heracross @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Megahorn
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

Honchkrow_used_Dark_Pulse_by_purplekecleon.png

Honchkrow @ Leftovers
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature [+Attack, -Special Attack]
- Brave Bird
- Sucker Punch
- Superpower
- Substitute

Honchkrow is my go to Flying-Type and with Leftovers and Moxie it can get very annoying very fast. Moxie is a very overpowered ability and if it's starts Honchkrow quickly turns into a Sweeper. The EV distribution on my Honchkrow is split between Speed and Attack which helps it act as a Sweeper. Honchkrow's moveset starts of with the STAB Brave Bird which is an amazing move and every Flying-Type should have it. Next it has Sucker Punch for Psychic and Ghost-Types. Superpower is for the Normal-Types and Heat Wave just because I like it there.

...Well there is my team and I hope if you see something that could be changed you let me know because I really can't figure it out on my own.

Hey Mig9532. Pretty good team you got there. However, there are several small things that can be done to make your team a whole lot better.

First, the nature and item on your Aerodactyl need to be changed. Jolly is better than Hasty, as you don't have any Special Attacks, and there is no reason for you to lower your defense. A Focus Sash can also help Aerodactyl a lot, as it allows you to survive another turn to get your Stealth Rocks up, or attack, while a Rock Incense will only help boost the power of your Rock-type attacks.

Your Mismagius is pretty good, but Substitute over Thunderbolt might help you a bit, as it can allow you to take less damage from other attacks, and Shadow Ball + Hidden Power Fighting provides you good enough coverage as is. Again, Thunderbolt is fine as it is, but I think that Substitute could help you and your team more.

Blastoise also looks good, but I would recommend running a more defensive EV spread, such as 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDef, and also possibly running Dragon Tail or Roar over Ice Beam, to get rid of Pokemon that have set up on you, and rack up damage with your Stealth Rock. Dragon Tail can damage the foe, but it can also miss and cant phase out Pokemon behind a Substitute. Roar on the other hand will always hit, but it won't deal any damage.

Arcanine could use a few small improvements. First, change the Naive nature to Jolly, as you don't need to waste Special Defense for that. Second, I think that Life Orb instead of Leftovers could help your Arcanine deal out more damage, as Arcanine is not a very bulky Pokemon and doesn't receive that much aid from having Leftovers.

Now Primeape is what I'm a little bit iffy about. I just don't really see how it helps your team that much. I personally think that replacing it with a Choice Scarf Heracross to use as a revenge killer would really help round out your team. Here is the set I'm talking about:
Heracross @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Megahorn
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

The Honchkrow set you're running seems pretty good, although I would recommend an Adamant nature instead of Impish, to give you extra power. Substitute can also be run, as it forces your opponent to attack you, which works well with Sucker Punch, but it forces you to drop one of your other coverage moves. I think you're good for now, but if you feel that Sub would be helpful over one of your other moves, then it will work out pretty well.

Thank you for input TalkingLion, it is really nice to have someone else look at your team and notice things that I never would have seen. I will take you suggestions into consideration and make changes accordingly.

Suicide leads are good if you want to get the momentum going your way at the start o f the game, but it leaves you in a 5-6 hole that you need to dig your way out of. Aerodactyl might be good on HyperOffensive teams who can afford that loss, but I do not think it is the right fit for your team, who needs all 6 pokemon to function well. Your team is also quite weak to all forms of Flygon, who can spam Outrage to it's hearts content. Therefore, I would recommend replacing Aerodactyl with Bronzong. This gives you a great Flygon counter, gives you an ever-important Stealth Rock user, and checks some other threatening pokemon such as Raikou and Crobat. Here is the set I recommend using:

Bronzong @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 92 Atk / 80 Def / 84 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock

Here are two small changes that I would suggest as well: the first is Replacing Ice Beam with Roar on Blastoise.Currently, Dragon Dance Kingdra poses a huge threat to your team, especially with Substitute, and using Roar on Blastoise allows you to effectively check Kingdra. The second change is
changing Heracross's ability to Moxie. Every scarf set should be using Moxie now that it has been released, turning Heracross into an awesome lategame cleaner after it has acquired an attack boost. Hope these suggestions help!
