Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Atk / 20 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Protect
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Seed Bomb / Facade

Despite sleep-inducing moves such as Spore no longer being allowed in BW, Breloom has remained a top threat. It can check some of the most common Pokemon in BW such as Politoed, Tyranitar, Ferrothorn, Rotom-W, and Tentacruel thanks to its typing and immunity to status with Poison Heal. However, it is not Breloom's defensive prowess that makes it a threat, as a sky-high base 130 Attack stat allows it to deal heavy damage to most Pokemon with Focus Punch.

Substitute allows Breloom to safely fire off a tremendously powerful attack. Protect is a great addition to stall for Poison Heal recovery, scout the numerous Choice item users in BW, particularly Latios, which is often used to force out Breloom, and potentially stall for residual damage on the foe. It also allows Breloom to heal damage from Substitute. Seed Bomb is used in the last slot for coverage against Jellicent and as a way to attack without a Substitute. Facade is another option that hits important neutral targets harder such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Reuniclus.

breloom definitely isn't a check to lando and exca. switching into scalding politoed/tentacruel should be mentioned instead. "coverage against ghosts" should just be jellicent, there are no others. perhaps slash facade over sbomb, as it's pretty great in non-jelli matchups, seeing as it's 20 bp stronger than sbomb against neutral targets (crucial against lando/gliscor/reun). finally, when you mention choice users, I'd specify latios, one of the most common pokes used to force loom out.

Despite sleep-inducing moves such as Spore not no longer being allowed in BW, Breloom has remained a top threat in the metagame. It can check some of the most common Pokemon in BW such as Politoed, Tyranitar, Ferrothorn, Rotom-W, and Tentacruel thanks to its typing and immunity to status with Poison Heal. However, it is not Breloom's defensive prowess that makes it a threat, (comma) It has as a sky-high base 130 Attack stat (RC) allowing allows it to deal heavy damage to most Pokemon with Focus Punch.

Substitute is chosen as it allows Breloom to safely fire off a tremendously powerful attack. Protect is a great addition to stall for Poison Heal recovery, scout the numerous Choice item users in BW, particularly Latios, (AC) which is often used to force out Breloom, and potentially stall for residual damage on the foe. It also allows Breloom to heal damage from Substitute. Seed Bomb is used in the last slot for coverage against Jellicent and for when Breloom needs as a way to attack without a Substitute. Facade is another option that hits important neutral targets harder such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Reuniclus.
