The paper clips being too small is crazy. Some people just really want an excuse to spew hate, I guess.Over the last few years, whenever I encounter toxic people, I always wonder about their upbringing
Like I had a boss who called me the n-word (I am not even black and neither was he) after I delivered documents to him with paper clips that were too small for his liking. What was this man's origin story, I really wonder
probably bad parenting. like 60% of villains in real life are a result of bad parenting. im willing to bet that it is at least 95% for bigotry.Over the last few years, whenever I encounter toxic people, I always wonder about their upbringing

I'd say it's more like 90-95% of all villains. You'd never hear of a serial killer without some kind of parental issues. Abuse is one factor, but circumstances that normalize violence or isolated or spoiled environments are notable toprobably bad parenting. like 60% of villains in real life are a result of bad parenting. im willing to bet that it is at least 95% for bigotry.
Well, its definetely the normalisation of this abuse makes people think that being toxic is a part of normal life and is just somebody caring about you, when in reality it isn't healthy at all. Children base their attitudes a lot around those around them and you can see this clearly when somebody points out how somebody sounds like one of their parents, they are subconciously doing the same thing that there parents are doing since they have been imprinted on as children. I know that my awful jokes are representive of the fact that my father makes the same awful jokes (and also my anger issues that rarely pop up, though I have tempered it down a lot since I realise that is no way to treat people and acting like my father does only pushes people away) and others also have similar things. When adults are being toxic, they believe that it is normal behaviour and thus become what their parents are.I'd say it's more like 90-95% of all villains. That said, I wonder what these circumstances were like to have made a villain. I think I started asking these questions when I first saw The Sopranos. The most interesting aspect of this show to me is how Tony's development (or rather regression) as a human is determined by his parents, and how, despite Tony being in his late 30s by the start of the show and having a family of himself, is most influenced by his mother. Made me reflect on myself and how my parents have determined my idendity
Like Yandev. Guy's fucking awful, pure poison in human form. Where did this poison come from? There had to be something wrong in his upbringing, but what specifically?

There are other things that can shape a person into a bad person, such as personal tradegies/experiences and other close relationships (mainly friends or role models) acting as bad influences, so it isn't a black and white scenario, lots of things can influence somebody to become a bad person and even if there are all the above things, a person can turn into a wonderful human being.
This of course, does not excuse anybody from acting this toxic way. As I like to say, "That's a reason, not an excuse, to be an awful person".
the whole conflict between Kendrick and Drake isn't even beef at this point, it's a public deconstruction of a man, his ego, his history, the culture he came from and the crimes that run rampant among the industry he represents. Drake was already striped naked with Story of Adidon, now it's like his skin is being ripped off infront of the world. Diss tracks used to be about hurling insults, now it's about breaking down a man and his misery
I am honestly glad to experience this. It feels like this was in the making from the moment Drake sat down in the wheelchair. Every step Drake took, everyone he betrayed, every bit of poison he spew across the world is now coming to him. He's cashing in his karma. It's like real life poetry unfolding before my eyes
meanwhile Drake was like "you're short lol"
Man learned nothing from his run in with Pusha T
yeah so in the last 5 episodes of the show it was revealed the big blue guys that they've been fighting for the past 20 episodes weren't actually the bad guys (no buildup to this reveal whatsoever) and that the real bad guys were aliens and zero two is a clone of zero one and then zero one just fucking dies because she served her purpose as zero two's "backstory" and a bigass plot device to set up a really boring final fight. honestly i fucking hate darling in the franxx because despite being made by former members of the team behind evangelion it had absolutely no idea what made the twists in evangelion good (it was the fact shinji is a believable characterization of a 14 year old with parental issues) while only barely tuning down the voyeuristic sexual exploitation of teenagers. fucking terrible show. i wish it was never made.i know nothing about darling in the franx, so can someone who has seen it tell me what the heck happened to zero 1 in as confusing of an answer as possible
Studio Trigger is just awful at writing. I didn't finish Darling in the Franxx, I finished BNA and it was... Really dumbyeah so in the last 5 episodes of the show it was revealed the big blue guys that they've been fighting for the past 20 episodes weren't actually the bad guys (no buildup to this reveal whatsoever) and that the real bad guys were aliens and zero two is a clone of zero one and then zero one just fucking dies because she served her purpose as zero two's "backstory" and a bigass plot device to set up a really boring final fight. honestly i fucking hate darling in the franxx because despite being made by former members of the team behind evangelion it had absolutely no idea what made the twists in evangelion good (it was the fact shinji is a believable characterization of a 14 year old with parental issues) while only barely tuning down the voyeuristic sexual exploitation of teenagers. fucking terrible show. i wish it was never made.
Bad writing? Great animation? I think I have the perfect franchise for Trigger.Studio Trigger is just awful at writing. I didn't finish Darling in the Franxx, I finished BNA and it was... Really dumb
You'd immediately compare it to Zootopia and Beastars. Zootopia had the same message and conveyed it 10 times better. Beastars also had the same message and conveyed it 1000 times better
It's no wonder that Trigger releases something, it's popular for a few months because of the animation and the soundtrack, and then vanishes into obscurity. Ten years ago, Kill la Kill was soooo huge, no one talks about it anymore, because it has no lasting effect. Compare that to Eva, it's a well-known meme that every modern video essay has to mention NGE at least ones, because its subversions, deconstruction and innovation are everlasting
The best Trigger project, that I genuinely adore, is Cyberpunk Edgerunners, because Trigger did the visuals and the writing was done by competent writers. I think Trigger should continue like this. They are amazing animators but awful writers
Truly, this is the 28-3 of TV shows.View attachment 632740
- Start out very successful, so much so that you're put on a pedestal with critically acclaimed and extremely popular contemporaries before you even finish airing season 1
- Accumulate a fan base and find majorly positive reception by virtually everyone
- Make good money with merch
- Stable, quick production
- Network is ecstatic, renews your show for enough seasons to write a fully realized story
- Smooth sailing production for season 2
- Season 2 airs, even bigger commercial and critical success
- Develop your story and characters from good to amazing
- Reach a commercial, critical and artistic peak in the story arc you finish season 2 and start season 3 with
- Leave out enough open threads from this arc to write a compelling second half to your show
- fuck up literally everything from here
- bastardize your characters, making them go from relatable to genuinely hateable
- establish massive plot holes and questionable character and story arcs
- completely fumble the originally interesting main conflict
- completely fumble the fun premise
- never reconnect the open plot threads from season 2/3
- have most of your remaining show be either weird filler or annoying storylines
- years later, everyone only remembers your show for the awful ending
Is there a bigger fumble?
funniest thing is, the only character that was popular at the end of the story was a character the creator has based on her past boyfriends. She wrote a character out of pure spite and he ended up being the only popular character. DamnTruly, this is the 28-3 of TV shows.
