I definitely like the flavor of a more generic squid gaining those fiery elements (red skin color, phosphorescence).

No reason to change (plus every Pokemon with a secondary fire typing has kept its typing upon evolution)

Water/Fire has more precedence than Water, but aside from that it's pretty much down to opinion now.
