Absolutely beautiful design, with the dynamic personality of a starter, agility reflecting 106 Speed, body reflecting its lower bulk and moves we want to give it...supporting art even has justification for Explosion!

Magi’s just looks too much like a legend to be a starter as well.

In case anyone brings up Infernape, I raise you the fact that we have two bird starters in canon, Blaziken and Decidueye, which differ enough in design to coexist, which is what I see here as well. Steph's design is one of my absolute favorites in terms of look and character and truly is worthy of its starter status.
