Mantle / Stratos

Mantle - layer inside of earth fits with the design Stratos - highest portion of the atmosphere or first section after the atmosphere

I’m sure you are well informed and I know it has other meanings, but it’s literally the first thing that comes when you Google it, which is less than ideal.

Like I said in my full response I've got no problems if this kind of connection is that big of an issue. I'm trying to understand to the absolute fullest the issue/concerns so that I don't make the same mistake again. There's the small line item regarding offensive etc. so the better I can understand whether that's something that clearly falls into that bucket vs. topic for discussion I just want to understand! This is literally my first time trying to be active in this community and not just read/look through art, so I want to make sure I'm following the rules correctly & don't make the same kind of mistake again.

Separately just for education - Please dont just send the google ai overview as an example for something like this. the wikipedia page is more accurate & the AI is supposed to be referencing that lol

It’s the first thing that comes when you search. It’s the first thing someone reads. That matters. I was conveying that there is a very obvious and direct connection between naziism and the word. Best to not defend that one.

Okay so I just did what you said to do with the word Blitz (Just that nothing else) Which is a word already in Pokemon - Flare Blitz / Breakneck Blitz.

Again im not defending the name - I just want to know what words are an issue or not & why. And google AI overview wasn't the best example to be using going forward as shown. I don't know why there's a need to be so short & snippy.

Didn't even see your Mantle base WIP - wasn't trying to steal just posting a WIP that came to mind.
Also the submissions are a combination of the names so I'm not copying yours to begin with. It's the pairing of the form names & it's a WIP.

Vanguard/Absolute

Vanguard is the frontmost part of a fighting force, fitting for an initial defensive forme and it also kinda sounds like Midgard/Asgard if you squint your ears. Absolute evokes both “an absolute last resort” and “absolute zero.” These aren’t self-explanatory names which discourages me from final subbing but I wanna try more evocative words in the same vein as Altered/Origin or Incarnate/Therian anyway so ya.

Core / Polar

Geographical and Geological inspired. Ramnarok's Steel form starts in the earth's core, and then emerges in the Polar regions, turns to ice and sweeps.

Stygian/Lucent

These two names are derived from two figures from Norse Mythology, though with a few extra steps. The name of Surtr, the fire giant who starts Ragnarok, means "swarthy" or "dark-skinned" in reference to his blackened hide (what with the base form's mane being an ashy dark color), though I changed it to keep it from being potentially insensitive. The other one was unchanged, and is from a folk etymology of Heimdall, which Ramnarok was directly based on: "the one who illuminates the world", likely in reference to the bifrost - I would've used "Luminous" but "Lucent" uses fewer letters while carrying the same meaning. Together these two form a duality of Hell vs. Heaven, fitting for a design not only themed around a folkloric apocalypse but partly named after it as well.

Gjallarhorn/Enherjar

After some thoughts and some outside advice, I decided to remove the puns. Overall, I am quite happy with my submission as I feel it matches quite well with Ramnarok's name.

Aegis / Blitz

Aegis - is tied to the concept of support/shielding. Usually it's the support of an agency but it derives from - (in classical art and mythology) an attribute of Zeus and Athena (or their Roman counterparts Jupiter and Minerva) usually represented as a goatskin shield.

Blitz -Word used to describe quick/speedy attack - for example in American Football defense overloading the offense to rush the quarterback.

Doomsday/Valhalla

The first forme's design calls to mind volcanoes and the end of the world, whereas the second is more ghostly and seems to suggest the afterlife.
Also, 'Ramnarok-Doomsday' just sounds cool and fitting for an awesome, single stage legendary/mythical pokemon like this one!

About the Valhalla name: I know the rules say it has to be a 'real english word'. I would argue 'Valhalla' should count, since it has an entry in the OED and other dictionaries, and seems generally like a well-known word among english speakers. Also, 'Pirouette' itself is a loan word from french, which has similarly taken on a well-enough-known meaning in english
