@Tort: You said it was a Kangaroo, I had assumed you tried your best to make it look like one, but I didn't really see the Kangaroo in it. At least (with all of your erratic examples) you can tell what the [example] still is. We still know Hippowdon is a hippo, even though it dies in water and sweats sand. Of course, logic in Pokemon is a null argument, and i'm sorry for bringing it up.

Edit: Nardd, that was funny. Celebi will most certainly will not get away, no no. lol
Could you perhaps have other things come out other panels? Like more hands? Weapons?

EDIT: This will be my final if nobody else minds scraping out a bit more critique. Fixed shading, added shading to eyes and tail.

In other news, here is my first update in my submission design. What do you like/dislike?

Unfourtunatly in my opinion this is too plain. I was thinking about Maybe adding some stripe-things and/or skin tags.

Btw Elegy, your monkey's yellow eyes don't very well compliment the dark colors that make it up.

I'm liking the warthog, and that worm thing is nice too.

Kai, I like that pose and the colors. I'm going to have to agree that it needs some sort of pattern though, even some kind of simple thing down the spine would look good (and would also reinforce the dark typing if you play with colors well)
 
@Family: the dark type most people are thinking of is evil, but in actuality, it's supposed to relate to night. :P

@Chom: Pretty cool, does it have a beard that serves as it's tail?!?

What about Tyranitar? His name has Tyrant in it, which is pretty evil and he doesn't look like a night person to me. Houndoom also is pretty evil, he's a hell-hound after all. That's what's fun about Dark :D

Actually, dark types are usually scary and fight dirty. They're not evil by nature, they just tend to have aspects that get labeled as such by humans or they deliberately pretend to be evil to be scary. (Which fits into the Dark type gig of underhanded trickery.)

Dammit Zantimonius, that's beautiful! My only suggestion would be to narrow the eyes a little; it looks too friendly right now for a Dark-type. Other than that, it looks amazing!
 
Wel in an effort to scrounge up supporting material, I been looking into ways for Wolfmon to demonstrate some of his abilities and attacks. Well conventional still art couldn't outright contain it, so I been using Easytoon to try to animate some actions.

I hope Cartoons! forgives me on treading on what is without a doubt his territory, I just wanted a way to get my vision across. :(

I suck anyway and this is my first time using this program. Here's Wolfmon digging, doing something innate to him.

As I get more comfortable with the program hopefully more will come, I'm not even pretending to be at Cartoons! level. ;)
 
Zantimonius, I personally think it looks Dark enough without edits. However, I don't see the Ground aspect as much. I mean, I can sort of understand it, but that doesn't mean that all the voters will. I'm sorry that I don't have any suggestions that will change this though.
 
Lovebite: Very nice. I agree the warthog fits the Dark/Ground theme very well.

jrndwill: Is there any chance we're going to get an update of the Turtle graveyard? I really loved that idea.

Also, and I think this has been mentioned a few times, but dark doesn't always mean "evil". I'd love to see a sleek dark design in the vain of Umbreon or Absol

Basic idea is some sort of malevolent thing that resides in graveyards or something. It seems more ghostly than dark, but WHATEVER
