Caution: Falling Rocks (A flinch haxy doubles RMT)

A few notes: This will be my doubles team for PBR and maybe other doubles stuff, if it turns out well. It will be based on Icy Wind/Paralysis plus Rock Slide for flinch haxy fun. This is completely theorymon, and, of course, will be for WiFi, so I don't really want a lot of Hidden Powers or event legendaries. I also haven't played doubles competitively for a hell of a long time. Let the team begin!

The Actual Team:
infernape.png

Infernape @ Focus Sash
Naive | Blaze
EVs: 232 Speed, 252 Special Attack, 24 Attack
~Fake Out
~Encore
~Flamethrower
~Close Combat

What better way to start out a team based on flinching than with a 100% flinch move? Infernape is lead #1, and should be obvious--Fake Out the main threat, Encore to case general annoyance, and nuke Bronzongs. I'm not really sure about the Fire move--is Flamethrower okay? Should I get Heat Wave for two opponents at once? Overheat or Fire Blast for the power?

electrode.png

Electrode @ Focus Sash
Timid | Soundproof
EVs: 252 HP, 6 Special Attack, 252 Speed
~Thunderbolt
~Thunder Wave
~Taunt
~Light Screen

This, like Infernape, is pretty obvious. Thunderbolt for general damage, Taunt and Thunder Wave to incapacitate the opponent and set up for Rock Slides, and Protect for when I'm in trouble. I chose Soundproof as the ability because I will already be spreading paralysis with Thunder Wave, and seeing Dialga's Roar of Time fail will be HILARIOUS.

poliwrath.png

Poliwrath @ Leftovers
Adamant | Damp
EVs: 252 Attack, 136 Speed, 122 HP
~Icy Wind
~Brick Break
~Waterfall
~Rock Slide

Here's Poliwrath, a custom-made Pokémon for my team. It has 210 Speed, and Damp over Water Absorb for those teams of exploders. Icy Wind to slow stuff down, Rock Slide for flinches, and the rest for coverage. I chose Poliwrath over other Damp Pokémon like Golduck and Politoed because of the Fighting type, and better Attack stat.

gyarados.png

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Adamant | Intimidate
EVs: 68 HP, 252 Attack, 188 Speed
~Waterfall
~Rock Slide
~Ice Fang
~Dragon Dance

A DD Gyarados!? The EV spread is from Smogon--this Gyara gets 245 Speed. I'm sure you all know what this should do. With all the speed drops and flinching the opponent has to deal with, it should be easy to get free turns for DD.

salamence.png

Salamence @ Leftovers
Adamant | Intimidate
EVs: 6 HP, 252 Attack, 252 Speed
~Dragon Dance
~Dragon Claw
~Rock Slide
~Fire Blast / Roost

Say hi to Salamence. Here's a clean-up sweeper and the second part of the double-Intimidate idea. With all the flinching I create, Salamence should be able to get a DD and have fun (just like Gyarados). Fire Blast for Steels, or maybe Roost for health. Also, if anyone knows a good bulky spread for Salamence, please tell me.

mamoswine.png

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Adamant | Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Attack, 20 SpA, 236 Speed
~Ice Shard
~Earthquake
~Rock Slide
~Icy Wind

This Manbearpig is out to get you. It should look like a pretty normal MixSwine, but with Icy Wind over Blizzard. Earthquake tears holes in stuff, Rock Slide is for (you guessed it) flinching, you should know what Icy Wind is for if you've been paying attention, and Ice Shard is for that low HP Pokémon that evaded the Speed drop.

That's it. Have fun rating my team!

All I can say is Fire Punch is suggested on Inferape, iirc.

Static for Electrode.

No comments on Poliwrath.

*...* on Gyarados.

Will comment on others later..

I would almost go Soundproof on Electrode...considering it'll be working to paralyze anyways. Go with Static if you're wanting to paralyze Fake Out users.

Having Explosion on Electrode is kind of like shooting yourself in the foot if you decide to use it. Gyarados is the only Pokemon on the team with Protect and none of the others resist the blast. Besides, if Poliwrath is out, Explosion will fail.

I like the idea of using Icy Wind to slow down opponents for fliching, but I think you are overdoing it a tad. I, personally, would take it off of Gyarados and Mamoswine (especially Mamoswine) for another move for more coverage.

Out of the three choices for Salamence, I would go with Fire Blast even though I despise the accuracy. And Mamoswine looks good except for that damned Icy Wind. Also, Life Orb seems like a good choice (so long as you're not up against stall teams).

I hope I helped some.

I have to wonder, what is it that Electrode is doing that Azelf cannot do better? Sure, it has higher speed, but Azelf has access to the same moves with higher attack and special attack and adds not worrisome weaknesses to the team. Oh, and as Vhind said, you'd want to drop Explosion anyway, as it really does not work with anything on this team and you'll probably either not ever get a chance to use it correctly or kill yourself doing so.

the problem w/ Gyarados and Icy Wind is that YOU dont get a speed boost, the opponent gets a speed drop. It also hits only one person (I believe) in doubles, so you could affect everyone (and your own attack as well) with DDance but instead your running that. EQ/Ice Fang on him (Ice Fang if you change icy wind).

I just updated the original post. I'm already happy with how many replies I got so quickly. It pretty much surpassed all my other RMTs...Anyways, I fixed Electrode, Mamo, and Gyara.

@StarmanXL: I removed Electrode's Explosion, but I think I'll keep the big ball on my team for now. There is a difference of 15 base Speed, if I remember correctly, between Azelf and Electrode, and doing damage isn't really a high priority with Electrode. It should be able to get the jump on other Taunters, like Aerodactyl, Weavile, and opposing Azelfs. Plus, like I said before, it will probably be epic imagining that kid's face when Electrode negates Dialga's Roar of Time...

Now that Electrode lacks Explosion, you can shift those Attack EVs into SpAtk and HP. I'd throw on Light Screen over Protect. I think it'll benefit your team more. Also, I'm not sure Focus Sash is your best bet. Electrode only has one weakness. No priority move has a chance of KOing Electrode in a single hit and it's pretty easy to see Earthquakes coming.

Also, do you really need Taunt on both Infernape and Electrode? I'd replace Infernape's Taunt with Encore or another attack.

Have you considered adding some more paralysis and/or Speed lowering to the team? Now that you've lost a lot of Icy Winds, you're missing about half your strategy. I'd honestly try Icy Wind on Mamoswine like you had it. Ice Fang's not that great anyway and with the Life Orb, Icy Wind will at least do some damage.
