1. INTRODUCTION

Hello! I’m back from my hiatus. The Shed Tail metagame was rough for me… I floundered about, creating mediocre balance teams, stuck in the 1700s… I only realized a few days before the Shed Tail ban that balance teams were unviable in that metagame. But, after the ban, team building came alive once again! Srn suggested an idea to me: Flying Tera Blast Choice Band Dragonite. I loved the idea at once, since it destroyed Stall. Using the balance building skills that had once been futile, Srn and I constructed the team you see before you. I wasn’t sure how it would perform, but I gave the team a try and had immediate and incredible results. As I climbed, the team continued to perform consistently. Ultimately I reached a peak of 2105, towering over all others on the ladder. The incredible consistency of this team in a metagame with unpredictable Terastallization is unlike anything I’ve previously used. I proudly present to you, Aeriform Attack!

P.S. I’m now offering tutoring sessions to help you improve your building and/or battling!

Dragonite @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type:
Flying
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Tera Blast
- Fire Punch
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake

Role / General Tips: Dragonite is primarily a breaker, but it also functions as a revenge killer with Choice Band Extreme Speed. Sometimes using Tera early on is a good idea for breaking the opponent’s team, but usually it’s best to wait until the moment where it would hurt them most. Try to preserve Multiscale as well, this shouldn’t be too difficult with Cinderace Court Change and Great Tusk Rapid Spin.
Item: Choice Band allows Dragonite to spam Flying Tera Blast with immediate power. Since the Flying type has no immunities and few resistances in the tier, and Tera Blast is a no-contact move, many of the disadvantages of Choice Band are negated.
Tera Type: Flying lets Dragonite use an extremely powerful STAB Tera Blast that helps break Stall and Balance teams.
Moves: Tera Blast gives Dragonite an extremely powerful STAB move to use. Fire Punch notably hits Corviknight, one of the few resistances to Flying Tera Blast. Earthquake is a high BP move that notably hits Toxapex and Garganacl. Lastly, Extreme Speed is great for KOing weakened sweepers.
EVs & Nature: Adamant with max Attack and Speed investment makes Dragonite the most potent breaker possible.
Other Options: I really don’t recommend changing the set, but Dragon Claw can be added over Earthquake or Fire Punch to give Dragonite STAB without needing to use Tera.
Notable Calcs:

252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Flying Dragonite Tera Blast vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Toxapex: 164-194 (53.9 - 63.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Flying Dragonite Fire Punch vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 192-228 (48.1 - 57.1%) -- 91% chance to 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Flying Dragonite Tera Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Dondozo: 192-228 (38 - 45.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Flying Dragonite Tera Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Amoonguss: 528-624 (122.2 - 144.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Meowscarada @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
Tera Type:
Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Flower Trick

- Trick

Role / General Tips
: Meowscarada functions as Speed control and partially as a Garganacl answer.
Item: Booster Energy Iron Valiant and +1 Roaring Moon are outsped by Choice Scarf Meowscarada making it exceptional as a revenge killer. Against bulkier teams, using Trick and passing the Choice Scarf is a devastating blow.
Tera Type: Tera Ghost allows Meowscarada to use Trick and shut down Extreme Speed Dragonite, which normally would OHKO at +1 with Tera Normal. This set otherwise greatly threatens the team.
Moves: Knock Off is a great move that deals solid damage and removes the opponent’s item. It also can surprise OHKO Dragapult that don’t expect Choice Scarf. U-turn is a powerful pivoting move with Protean that often allows Dragonite or Slowking to enter. Flower Trick is a fantastic no-contact move that always results in a critical hit, bypassing defense boosts such as those from a Garganacl Curse. Lastly, Trick allows Meowscarada to cripple defensive pokemon and lock sweepers into a single move.
EVs & Nature: Jolly with max Speed is necessary to outspeed a lot of major sweepers such as +1 Roaring Moon and Booster Energy Iron Valiant. Max Attack makes Meowscarada a more effective revenge killer.
Other Options: Tera Grass can be used if you want extra power and don’t fear +1 Tera Normal Extreme Speed Dragonite. I would recommend fearing it, though.
Notable Calcs:

252 Atk Meowscarada Flower Trick vs. 252 HP / 156+ Def Garganacl on a critical hit: 198-234 (49 - 57.9%) -- 49.2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Meowscarada Flower Trick vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Iron Valiant on a critical hit: 168-198 (58.1 - 68.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Slowking @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type:
Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Future Sight
- Psychic
- Chilly Reception
- Slack Off

Role / General Tips: Slowking is a specially defensive wall and pivot, and it provides Future Sight support to help break. When facing Garganacl, pivot into Slowking and use Chilly Reception instead of directly switching into anything else to avoid unnecessary chip.
Item: Heavy Duty Boots helps Slowking avoid hazard damage, which it is otherwise very weak to.
Tera Type: Tera Fire is nice for walling Gholdengo, avoiding Will-O-Wisp from Hex Dragapult and Skeledirge, providing a more consistent wall to Choice Specs Tera Fairy Iron Valiant, and resisting Grass and Bug attacks, notably U-turn.
Moves: Future Sight is a fantastic move when paired with Chilly Reception. The 120 BP Psychic move is especially devastating when paired with CB Dragonite, and even if the opponent has a Protect pokemon it allows you to position yourself well. Psychic is a good move for immediate power, specifically hitting Glimmora, Great Tusk, and Iron Valiant. Chilly Reception is an essential pivoting move that allows Slowking to safely swap into other team members. It is also very useful for avoiding Salt Cure chip. Lastly, Slack Off is important so that Slowking can last throughout long games, especially when facing bulkier teams.
EVs & Nature: Slowking is designed to wall special hits, so maximum special defense and HP investment makes the most sense. The minimum speed IV and -speed nature helps achieve the slowest Chilly Reception possible, to swap out last on Curse Garganacl, Curse Dondozo, and other Slowking.
Other Options: Tera Fairy or Tera Poison can also be run over Tera Fire. I would otherwise strongly advise not changing this set.
Notable Calcs:

252 SpA Choice Specs Protosynthesis Walking Wake Hydro Steam vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Slowking in Sun: 126-148 (32 - 37.6%) -- 93.5% chance to 3HKO

0 SpA Slowking Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Glimmora: 234-276 (76.2 - 89.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 SpA Slowking Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Iron Valiant: 294-348 (101.7 - 120.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Great Tusk @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type:
Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Atk / 208 Def / 36 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin

- Stealth Rock

Role / General Tips: Great Tusk is the primary hazard setter, defensive wall, and hazard control for the team. If you’re facing a Kingambit, you’ll want to preserve Great Tusk’s health as much as possible. If your opponent has already set hazards, there’s likely no need to Rapid Spin or set your own Stealth Rock, since it would probably be better to use Court Change first.
Item: Rocky Helmet allows Tusk to deal damage to Kingambit as they use Iron Head or Kowtow Cleave on the switch. It’s also great for damaging other Great Tusk as they use Rapid Spin or Knock Off, and to chip Corviknight clicking U-turn (damage which may let Dragonite get a Tera Blast 2HKO).
Tera Type: Tera Fairy gives this team a Fairy type, which may be very important if you face a Choice Specs or Choice Band Tera Dragon Dragapult, or a Tera Dragon Baxcalibur.
Moves: Earthquake is great for hitting Kingambit, Gholdengo, Toxapex, Clodsire, and more. It’s a generally solid STAB move. Knock Off removes the opponent’s item, making it a great move to use early game and punish walls that Great Tusk is normally unable to touch. Rapid Spin removes hazards and even boosts speed by +1, which can come in handy in late game situations. Lastly, Stealth Rock is fantastic for long term chip throughout a game.
EVs & Nature: Near maximum defense and HP makes Great Tusk a more capable physical wall. The 36 speed ensures that Great Tusk outspeeds Jolly Kingambit. The 16 attack EVs give a 50% chance to OHKO Gholdengo without any bulk investment with Earthquake, making it a more risky switch in.
Other Options: You could run Leftovers over Rocky Helmet. You could also run Bulk Up over Stealth Rock to help deal with Dragonite and Baxcalibur.
Notable Calcs:

252+ Atk Kingambit Iron Head vs. 248 HP / 236+ Def Great Tusk: 90-106 (20.7 - 24.4%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

16 Atk Great Tusk Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gholdengo: 288-342 (91.4 - 108.5%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

252 Atk Baxcalibur Glaive Rush vs. 248 HP / 236+ Def Great Tusk: 129-153 (29.7 - 35.3%) -- 17.3% chance to 3HKO

Kingambit @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head

- Kowtow Cleave

Role / General Tips
: Kingambit is the Ghost resist, Gholdengo switch in, revenge killer, Baxcalibur answer, and sweeper of the team. If you’re facing a Will-O-Wisp Volcarona, using Tera Fire on Kingambit is the only way to take it down other than Meowscarada Trick. Tera Fire is also usually a good idea to use against Sub Hex Dragapult if it manages to set up on you.
Item: Leftovers gives Kingambit as much longevity as possible.
Tera Type: Tera Fire is fantastic for avoiding Will-O-Wisp, providing a reliable Volcarona answer, and countering Iron Valiant.
Moves: Swords Dance helps to set up for sweeps. Sucker Punch is an incredible priority move, especially against offensive teams. Iron Head is a powerful STAB move, great for hitting Garganacl and Great Tusk. Lastly, Kowtow Cleave provides a powerful STAB Dark attack that doesn’t rely upon your opponent attacking like Sucker Punch does.
EVs & Nature: Adamant nature with max attack makes Kingambit a potent sweeper and breaker. Maximum HP turns it into a very effective wall as well.
Other Options: You could run Low Kick over Iron Head.
Notable Calcs:

252 SpA Gholdengo Make It Rain vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Kingambit: 114-135 (28.2 - 33.4%) -- 93.7% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Baxcalibur Glaive Rush vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Kingambit: 91-108 (22.5 - 26.7%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

1683764647525.png

Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Blaze
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 224 HP / 32 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pyro Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- U-turn

- Court Change

Role / General Tips: Cinderace acts as speed control, hazard control, and a secondary Kingambit answer. Cinderace is particularly helpful against Glimmora HO teams. Lead with Slowking, use Psychic, then Chilly Reception into Cinderace and get a guaranteed kill with Pyro Ball. Following this, you can Court Change to send Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes onto their side of the field. Even if you have to use Tera Flying to make this happen, it’s often worth it and you can usually use Will-O-Wisp on whatever they bring in.
Item: Heavy Duty Boots is essential for Cinderace to be effective hazard control, since it is very weak to most hazards.
Tera Type: Tera Flying allows Cinderace to avoid Earthquake, notably from Great Tusk and Roaring Moon, both of which it can cripple with a Will-O-Wisp.
Moves: Pyro Ball is a powerful STAB move that prevents Cinderace from being too passive. Will-O-Wisp is a great move for crippling incoming Great Tusk, and giving residual damage to walls that Cinderace normally can’t touch such as Toxapex and Alomomola. U-turn is a fantastic pivoting move that is usually free damage due to Cinderace’s high speed. Lastly, Court Change is likely the best hazard control move in all of pokemon, allowing the user to reverse all the hazard setting effort of their opponent. This is very helpful when paired with a Stealth Rock weak pokemon like Dragonite.
EVs & Nature: Jolly with maximum speed is essential for outspeeding Iron Valiant and achieve a speed tie with Roaring Moon. 32 attack EVs are necessary to get a guaranteed OHKO with Pyro Ball on offensive Gholdengo. The rest is in HP to make Cinderace bulkier and survive some crucial hits, such as Tera Flying Roaring Moon Acrobatics.
Other Options: If you desire, you can run more HP, but I do not recommend it.
Notable Calcs:

252 Atk Protosynthesis Tera Flying Roaring Moon Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 224 HP / 0 Def Cinderace: 312-367 (87.3 - 102.8%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO

32 Atk Cinderace Pyro Ball vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gholdengo: 318-374 (100.9 - 118.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

32 Atk Cinderace Pyro Ball vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Glimmora: 82-97 (26.7 - 31.5%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

4. TEAM BUILDING PROCESS

:magnezone::meowscarada::dragonite:

Srn proposed building around CB Flying Tera Blast Dragonite, Choice Scarf Meowscarada, and Magnezone. The idea was to trap Corviknight and Kingambit, allowing Dragonite and Meowscarada to break and sweep.

:magnezone::meowscarada::dragonite::great-tusk:

We added Great to help wear down the opponent’s physical walls with Knock Off, while providing Stealth Rock and hazard removal via Rapid Spin.

:magnezone::meowscarada::dragonite::great-tusk::kingambit:

Kingambit was added because it’s incredibly powerful and a great tool against Offense and HO. It also gave us a reliable switchin to Gholdengo.

:meowscarada::dragonite::great-tusk::kingambit:

We realized there was no way to cover up all the team’s weaknesses in the remaining slot, so we removed Magnezone and decided to structure the team to pressure Corviknight instead of trapping it.

:meowscarada::dragonite::great-tusk::kingambit::slowking:

Slowking was added to provide a reliable specially defensive wall and give Future Sight support to Dragonite.

:meowscarada::dragonite::great-tusk::kingambit::slowking::cinderace:

A defensive Great Tusk was quite poor at removing hazards, which our team was very weak to. Court Change Cinderace helped this greatly and provided a Fairy resistance.

5. TEAM USAGE TIPS

1. Know when to use Tera. Sometimes an early Tera with Dragonite can break so effectively that it’s worth giving up the surprise factor.
2. Preserve Tera until you need it usually. Keeping that type-change option available is a massive resource, and using it will give your opponent a lot more freedom and control over the game.
3. Against Glimmora leads, Psychic with Slowking, Chilly Reception into Cinderace, kill with Pyro Ball, then Court Change (even if you have to use Tera sometimes) against whatever they send out.
4. Against Wisp Hex Pult, you’ll usually want to Tera Fire on Kingambit. It can be avoided with clever Slowking and sometimes Cinderace plays, but it’s better to use your Tera than to get your whole team burned and chipped by Dragapult.
5. Sometimes the only way to stop a sweeper is to use Trick with Meowscarada. Make sure to switch it in before it’s too late and they outspeed and OHKO you.
6. Against Garganacl, use Slowking to pivot around to avoid the team getting chipped by Salt Cure. Future Sight + Meowscarada will usually get you through, and using Knock Off with Great Tusk at some point is also very helpful.
7. Against Amoonguss, sometimes it’s a good idea to lead Dragonite, Tera Flying and OHKO turn 1.
8. If you’re struggling, check out the Replay section. :]

6. THREAT LIST

1683764647577.png

This team has no Spore immunity other than Meowscarada, which is a terrible Amoonguss switch-in. That being said, you still CAN switch it in, and perhaps use Trick to cripple Amoonguss. Another thing to note is that people will often lead Amoonguss against this team, so you can lead Dragonite and get a surprise kill with Tera Blast. If neither of these options suit the circumstances, you can always pivot around using Chilly Reception and U-turn on Cinderace and Meowscarada to avoid giving Amoonguss an easy entry.
1683764647628.png

The team has no special attackers other than Slowking, so once this thing starts using Curse it can be difficult to stop. However, using Knock Off with Great Tusk, Future Sight with Slowking, and Flower Trick or Trick with Meowscarada is often enough to prevent it from sweeping. In late game situations, if the aforementioned pokemon have fainted, Kingambit can often deal enough damage to prevent setup.
1683764647674.png

If this thing clicks Swords Dance, pretty much nothing walls it. Try to utilize Kingambit and Tera Fairy Great Tusk to bring it down. Meowscarada Trick can also be used in a tight situation against sets lacking Ice Shard. Note that Dragonite probably won’t be able to tank an Ice move even with Multiscale and Tera Flying, since many Baxcalibur run Icicle Spear.
1683764647722.png

No Spore immunity other than Meowscarada, which gets OHKOd by Mach Punch. Fortunately Dragonite often outspeeds. Cinderace can also use Will-O-Wisp and tank Bullet Seed + Mach Punch unless the opponent gets 5 bullet seed hits into a high roll Mach Punch. Slowking can also sometimes surprise Breloom with Tera Fire and OHKO with Psychic.
1683764647780.png

Toxic Spikes is the only threatening move on Toxapex. AV Toxapex is not an issue at all, but the team has no way to absorb Toxic Spikes. However, with Future Sight + Court Change Cinderace, usually this isn’t a major problem.
1683764647834.png

Dragon Dance with Tera Normal Extreme Speed can get pretty scary. Cinderace can use Tera Flying to avoid a +1 Earthquake, and it lives a +1 Tera Normal Extreme Speed as well. Meowscarada can also Trick a Choice Scarf to lock Dragonite into either Extreme Speed or Earthquake, both of which are fairly easily walled by the team. However, Meowscarada will likely be OHKOd by +1 Tera Normal Extreme Speed, so you may have to use Tera Ghost. You can also revenge kill with your own CB Dragonite Extreme Speed, although it needs to have Multiscale preserved to not get KOd. The best way to prevent being forced to use your Tera by this beast is to avoid giving it easy setup opportunities. Slowking’s Future Sight is very helpful with this.

7. REPLAYS

I saved just about every game of my ladder climb, so you’ll find lots of 2000s replays here. The gaps and holes are due to opponents that weren’t very happy, and I don’t think they would want the replays displayed here. During this run I also faced Storm Zone a couple of times-- these encounters were unplanned, and we were not working together on the team or on the peak. Some of the earlier replays have a slightly different version of the team featuring Specs Gholdengo over Dragonite.

8. SHOUTOUTS

Thank you to Srn for the idea for the team and contributing significantly to the building! Also thank you to Shawk for the amazing banner art and the pokemon name art!

9. TUTORING SESSIONS

Do you want to become a high ladder player? Do you want to become a name people fear in tournaments? Do you want to build your own teams and take on the best?

I can teach you how!

I am now offering tutoring sessions for those who would like to enhance their battling and/or team building skills! These tutoring sessions will be one-on-one calls on Zoom or Discord with personalized lesson plans. You can purchase a 45 minute session for $25 USD, or a 90 minute session for $40 USD. The payment will be done via Cash App, where you do not have to reveal any identity information. The focus of these tutoring sessions will be the Scarlet and Violet Overused tier (SV OU). The lessons will be conducted in English.

About Me: I have over 10 years of Pokemon experience, and I’ve been a top ladder and team builder player for several years. I’m often regarded as the best team builder on PS, and I’ve provided team building assistance to top players in tournaments such as World Cup and OLT. I have experience teaching Pokemon, and my students have shown exceptional growth. Whether you’re a new player or you’ve been playing competitive Pokemon for years, I can help take your skill to the next level.

Sign Up: To sign up for a tutoring session and for payment instructions, please carefully read and fill out this Google Form: https://forms.gle/P7tQzowwR5m8dnNXA. I’ll be in contact with you once you fill out the form! :]

Troubleshooting: If you’re having difficulties with the process or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via Smogon (account name: Pinkacross), Discord (Beigelord#6408), or my email beigelordpkmn@gmail.com

I still plan on contributing to the community without charge as I have done previously. I will publish RMTs for you all to enjoy, and if you ever want a team rated or a replay reviewed, just send me a PM on Smogon and I’d be glad to help you out for free. However, if you want to learn how to become a master of building or battling, I highly recommend a tutoring session.

Very cool team as always, I really like Tera flying dragonite, even if I do use the dragon dance set. I’ll definitely try to experiment with zone, though, since I really hate corv invalidating half of the offensive mons of every meta game. Gratz on the peak

Struggling against Zapdos with this team. I didn't see any mention of it in this RMT. Confused to not see it on the threat list as the only Electric immunity and the only resist on this team die to Hurricane

This is a pre-HOME team when Zapdos wasn’t in the Meta.

Hello all,
My name is Shawk, or SprialSpectors. I’ve come here to thank Pinkacross for such a creative team. Before this team, I was a 41 year old divorced loser. But when this team came out I used this team to 1v1 my wife into regaining custody of my 4 children. Thank you Pink from the bottom of my heart!
u need help???
