choice items, not seeing much use?

I love using Specs Roserade. It is capable of doing more damage than Specsmence with STABd CSpecs Leaf Storm. I've used it to clean teams up so many times.

And what about CB Azumarill? CBd Aqua Jet running off Huge Power is nothing to scoff at. And if there is a GSC remake with tutors for the punches, it will become 10 times more dangerous.

I have encountered CS Garchomp used in conjunction with CBTar enough times to know that Choice Items are still being used heavily.

the only problem with cs leaf storm is that 7 types resist grass, while only one type resists dragon.

Roserade does get... Sludge Bomb / Extrasensory / Shadow Ball / Weatherball which can be a lot of versitility.

Charizard / Typhlosion Choice Specs Overheat is just as powerful as specsmence and can still use Dragon Pulse for coverage.

Don't forget Moltres, who would have the most powerful Overheat.

People rule out Hydro Pump / Fire Blast as opposed to Overheat / Draco Meteor. Lower accuracy and only slightly lower power, but you don't have to switch out after because of that nasty special drop.

I made a killing in Battle Tower with Choice Specs Milotic with Hydro Pump / Ice Beam / Dragon Pulse (should be a hidden power) / Sleep Talk.

Hydro Pump OHKO's 80% of the Pokemon.. w/o a special drop and is a 2HKO against Palmers Cresselia (I swept his whole team with Milotic alone).

I don't know how it would work in standard play.. haven't tried it yet.

Yeah overheat can't be compared to Draco meteor totally. I mean draco meteor hits almost everything while overheat covers where draco can't.

Why isnt there like a Dragon Absorb or Mystic Drive ability? Its annoying that you can just SPAM dragon attacks with the worst thing that can happen is that you have to have to switch.

You can even Magnet Pull the counters.

Though I guess there is always Blisselia...

I used to use Life Orb, until I realised how restricting it is. If I am fighting someone and they did something like switch Lucario in on a Crunch, then out on an Earthquake to Tangrowth, and I'm holding a Life Orb, then I just lost 20% of my health for close to no damage. But with a Choice item, I'm.....not......as much, although it would still not be a great situation. I have 2 choice items on my team, and I see at least 1 on most other teams, so no, I wouldn't say that Choice item use has gone down at all.

the most popular items, in order, from my experience on shoddy battle, are:
leftovers
choice band
choice specs
focus sash
life orb
choice scarf
expert belt
toxic orb

scarf IMO is higher than Specs, Sash and LO. Of all the teams I've battled I would say roughly 60-70% of them had Hera which most had CScarf. Not to mention I also battled against Scarfed Vile and Mence.

Honestly, from my experience, Focus Sash and Choice Scarf are higher than the offenseive-stat raising choice items. I believe that the reason for that is well, Focus Sash can be put on completely random things like Shuppet or Rattata and it can actually work. Scarf is awesome for powering up things with huge offensive stats, but that just don't have the speed to sweep on their own. Take Kingler, Machamp or Heracross for example. Those three things are completely deadly with Choice Scarf. Choice Scarf is also used on Trickers, pokemon that want a fast status, etc, etc. Band and Specs are mostly just used on things that want to sweep and on a very rare occasion, trick, yeah so not as much.

Porygon-Z is almost always scarfed; Lucario is almost always specs. Heatran is commonly Scarfed, too. Those are the choicers that actually works and are scary, as well as CBTar and ChoiceCross.

you forgot Sala and Chomp they usually carry Scarf but Band isn't uncommon on them as well. Aero almost always also use either a Scarf or a Band.

I disagree with this topic title. I rarely see a team without one of the three choice items, rarely build a team without at least one of the choice items, and have yet to see an Uber team without a choice item.

I, for one, love the Choice items. Me and my friends have mini-tournaments, and my Choice Specs Palkia PWNs all their ubers. I've yet to try the Choice Scarf, but I'm planning on it. All the Choice items are useful, especially when you're switch-happy like me.

While the health loss can screw you over, Life Orb definitely has its advantages. For a start its best used by something fast, to avoid revenge killers coming in and ruining its fun. Being able to switch from EQ to Stone Edge really does have its perks, and avoids you having to switch out and have another poke lose 30% or so to their attack. On slower things LO isn't nearly as good, but on something like say Electvire having the ability to switch moves freely, but having more power than with Expert Belt and none no need to switch out (forfeiting Motor Drive) its very ideal.

Agreed. Things like Chain Chomp and Mixape work perfectly with Life Orb (fast ,and powers absurdly strong attacks like Draco Meteor or Close Combat). The flexibility is also nice as well.

I use Metagross with Life Orb and trust me having the choice to go boom when my HP is low rather than stick to one attack or have to switch out THEN come out again to blow up is awesome (for the most part, unless the whole point of your robot is to blow up!).

The biggest problem with Life Orb is if something like Sandstorm is running, then you'll be losing a more HP and die quicker. Or worse, the attack doesn't KO your opponent >_<!

I love choice items. I have three on my current team (one of each kind :P), and they work out nicely. Choice Scarf Heatran is currently my favourite... surprising speeder ftw.

That extra power you get from those items right off the bat is real nice... most sweepers only stick around for a couple attacks anyway, so why not?

I have my four walls, then then two choice users on my team. The choice items are needed so I know I'll out speed everyone (Garchomp) and do a notable amount of damage (Jirachi).

After you learn how to make teams correctly, you see that choice items aren't really that bad. Once you know you've got counters to switch ins you know you're safe when you need to change.

Yea, 4 walls would definitely support the two choicers. The problem is getting walled, since choicers are easily walled. I'd take out a wall for an effective wall-crumbling sweeper =d

At which point my team would fall apart. Another sweeper would make a my team ineffective, when going for sandstorm, toxic and rocks along with constant chipping away at health you don't seem to really need wall breakers. It's a different style of play from just hitting the other team. Worked great for me so far, not had too much of a problem with it.
