Moves
========

Earthquake is all-around good coverage, dealing super effective damage to Pokemon like Aggron, Simisear, Qwilfish, and opposing Alolan Sandslash that resist Alolan Sandslash's STAB attacks. Knock Off can be run over Rapid Spin to cripple common switch-ins to Alolan Sandslash such as Gurdurr, Bronzor, and Ferroseed, removing their vital items. However, this should only be done if the team has a different source of entry hazard control.

Set Details
========

Slush Rush is the best ability on Alolan Sandslash, allowing it to outspeed every Pokemon in the tier under hail.

Usage Tips
========

Alolan Sandslash's main role is to act as a revenge killer, picking off faster threats such as Swords Dance Dodrio and Lycanroc using its STAB attacks. Alolan Sandslash has a large number of resistances that it ought to use frequently to pivot into foes such as Aurorus and Victreebel. While this is not risk free, and Alolan Sandslash can be caught by super effective coverage, it is still critical to use Alolan Sandslash very offensively. If opting for Rapid Spin, Alolan Sandslash can be brought in against a passive Pokemon like Audino or Clefairy to remove entry hazards, improving the longevity of its teammates. Rapid Spin can still be a fairly risky move to lock Alolan Sandslash into, as it can be taken advantage of by common setup sweepers and Ghost-types such as Carracosta and Jellicent.

Team Options
========

Alolan Sandslash primarily fits on balance teams looking for a good source of role compression, functioning as a revenge killer / way of keeping faster foes in check, entry hazard removal, and an Ice-type check all in one. Choice Scarf Alolan Sandslash is well received by Spikes stacking teams, which appreciate the fast Rapid Spin Alolan Sandslash offers and the fact it doesn't remove its team's entry hazards like a Defogger would. Qwilfish is an ideal partner, offering a Fighting and Fire resistance. Due to Alolan Sandslash's 4x weakness to Fighting-type moves, Fighting-types checks are often a necessity when using it. Silvally-Fairy is another good partner that can take on Hitmonchan and Gurdurr, switching into their priority moves that would stop Alolan Sandslash in its tracks. Silvally-Fairy can also run Defog if you're looking to run Knock Off on Alolan Sandslash instead. Musharna is another good partner. Not only does it check Fighting-types, but Choice Scarf Alolan Sandslash can make good use of Future Sight support, as it is an effective way to break through Gurdurr and cripple bulky Water-types such as Carracosta. Other solid Fighting-type checks include Victreebel and Oricorio-E. Victreebel breaks the physically defensive Pokemon that Alolan Sandslash struggles to break through like Regirock and Alolan Persian, and Oricorio-E provides a Ground immunity; in return, Alolan Sandslash offers both an Ice-type check. Alolan Sandslash is also vulnerable to Fire-type Pokemon like Simisear and Combusken, so partners such as Lanturn and Jellicent that can hard switch into them most of the time are recommended. If Alolan Sandslash opts for Knock Off, it can lure in and cripple Eviolite-reliant Pokemon such as Type: Null and Tangela. This is greatly beneficial to setup sweepers such as Lycanroc and other physical wallbreakers such as Kangaskhan and Torterra. While Alolan Sandslash outspeeds most of the unboosted tier, it is not good at revenge killing Speed-boosting setup sweepers such as Combusken and Omastar. Priority users such as Hitmonchan and faster Choice Scarf users such as Primeape can help cover these threats. Ludicolo is a strong offensive partner, as it threatens Jellicent and Regirock, while Alolan Sandslash can check hail setters such as Aurorus and Poison-types like Victreebel.

Moves
========
  • Icicle Crash is Alolan Sandslash's strongest STAB attack and hits opposing Flying- and Grass-type pokemon for super-effective damage such as Dodrio and Victreebel.
  • Iron Head is Sandslash's secondary STAB attack that targets Ice-resistant ice-types specifically pokemon like Cryogonal aurorus for more damage.
  • Earthquake is all-around good coverage, dealing damage to pokemon like Aggron, Combusken and Qwilfish, opposing slash who all resist Sandslash's dual-STAB.
  • Rapid Spin is good utility to remove hazards and lets Alolan Sandslash's teammates have an easier time getting in and improving their longevity. u don't need to explain what rapid spin does, instead focus on why scarf slash in particular is a good rapid spinner (fast spin)
  • Knock Off is for more damage on Jellicent and it is nice to have over Rapid Spin in certain circumstances to get rid of items well jellicent doesn't really care about knock off damage. this is more for crippling switch-ins such as gurdurr and ferro

Set Details
========
  • Maximum Attack and Speed investment maximises Sandslash's damage output and makes it as fast as it can be. why does this matter? examples of mons it outspeeds?
  • Using a Jolly nature it outspeeds everything under hail regardless of nature in conjunction with Choice Scarf and the ability Slush Rush, Alolan Sandslash to outspeed pokemon such as Choice Scarf Primeape and Dodrio you're mainly using it to rk opposing hail setters/users under hail.

Usage Tips
========
  • Alolan Sandslash's main role is to act as a revenge killer, picking off faster threats such as Dodrio and Lycanroc cryogonal using its dual-STAB.
  • This set can act as a lure set to bait in these aforementioned pokemon due to the fact Choice Scarf is not the most common Sandslash set, making it quite reliable for eliminating threats for its teammates.
  • It is nice to utilise the multitude of resistances Alolan Sandslash is given by its typing to be a decent switch-in to pokemon like Stoutland locked into a Normal-type move or Aurorus' Blizzard. can be brought in via voltturn too
  • Alolan Sandslash is much less bulky and more prone to getting worn down quicker so it's not ideal to constantly bring it into resisted attacks, particularly resisted special attacks like Musharna's Psychic. u shouldn't use cross-references between sets, assume whoever is reading this didn't read the rest of the analysis and has no other knowledge about slash. anyway it's just as bulky as hail sweeper slash and spdefslash is really irrelevant rn
  • If opting for Rapid Spin, Alolan Sandslash can be brought in against a passive pokemon like Audino or Clefairy and be able to remove hazards, improving the longevity of its sweeping teammates.

Team Options
========
  • spikestack (setters like qwil and ferro, spinblockers like jellicent and sableye, cleaners like kanga and floatzel). fast spin is the number one reason i'd consider using scarf slash over other scarfers on these kinda teams
  • Due to Alolan Sandslash's x4 weakness to Fighting-type pokemon such as?, Fighting-types checks are often a necessity when using this pokemon. Silvally-Fairy is a good partner for Alolan Sandslash, who can take on Hitmonchan and Gurdurr, stopping their priority which would stop Sandslash in its tracks. Silvally-Fairy also offers utility in the forms of hazard removal and pivoting with Parting Shot or U-turn, which ensures Sandslash is kept healthy throughout the game.
  • expand on victreebel and pompom too, they're both great partners for slash, very nice offensive+defensive synergy
  • Alolan Sandslash is also vulnerable to Fire-type pokemon like Simisear combusken, especially when it locks itself into its dual-STAB. Partners like Lanturn jellicent are excellent at pressuring these Fire-types and making sure Sandslash isn't the target of their super-effective STAB attacks. Lanturn in addition to being a Fire-type check also provides a slow Volt Switch, which can help Alolan Sandslash come in much easier and threaten something out.
  • Hail setters Aurorus and Abomasnow can be nice additions to support Alolan Sandslash due to the fact that they can boost Sandslash's speed for it to outspeed the fastest scarfers like Dodrio and Scyther and not be pressured by them. These hail setters are also primarily special wallbreakers who are able to bypass the physical walls that wall Alolan Sandslash like Tangela and Jellicent and Alolan Sandslash can handle the specially defensive pokemon in the tier that stop them like Audino and Cryogonal. i really wouldn't use this as part of a hailcore, it's not nearly as good as sd slash under hail and making ur team even weaker to fire+fighting is really not worth it in this case
yeah i'd really expand on this section. u mentioned only 4 mons and 2 of them aren't good partners for slash

Set Details
========
  • Maximum Attack and Speed investment maximises Sandslash's damage output and makes it as fast as it can be (fluff). A Jolly nature is preferred over Adamant due to the fact that Joly allows Choice Scarf Alolan Sandslash to outspeed unboosted base 110 speed pokemon such as Alolan Raichu, non-Choice Scarf Dodrio and also faster pokemon like Lycanroc.
  • Slush Rush is the best ability on Alolan Sandslash, allowing it to outspeed every pokemon in the tier under hail and also letting it revenge kill opposing hail setters Aurorus and Abomasnow. (but, it already does outside of hail even if they're scarf too?)

Usage Tips
========
  • Alolan Sandslash's main role is to act as a revenge killer, picking off faster threats such as Dodrio and Lycanroc using its dual-STAB. (again specify non-scarf dodrio)
  • This set can act as a lure set to bait in these aforementioned pokemon due to the fact Choice Scarf is not the most common Sandslash set, making it quite reliable for eliminating threats for its teammates. (but scarf really is the most used set from what i've seen)
  • It is nice to utilise the multitude of resistances Alolan Sandslash is given by its typing to be a decent switch-in to pokemon like Stoutland locked into a Normal-type move or Aurorus' Blizzard.
  • If opting for Rapid Spin, Alolan Sandslash can be brought in against a passive pokemon like Audino or Clefairy and be able to remove hazards, improving the longevity of its sweeping teammates.
  • something something negatives of being stuck locked into rapid spin and how ass it can be, or scenarios where being locked in straight loses you the game because of an opposing set-up sweeper (see sd silv for example)
remember, the reason u use scarf slash is for the role compression it offers so i'd try to touch on that a little more

Team Options
========
  • Choice Scarf Alolan Sandslash is well received by Spike-stacking teams which appreciate the fast Rapid Spin that Sandslash offers and the fact it doesn't remove its team's hazards like a Defog pokemon would. Qwilfish is an ideal partner for Alolan Sandslash, offering a Fighting and Fire resistance and is good at handling a decent amount of checks to Sandslash such as Gurdurr, Mudsdale and Regirock and Qwilfish appreciates a hazard remover which does not remove its hazards. (last bit is repetitive so remove) (nah qwil vs muds is often more in the favour of mudsdale, not a very good check)
  • Due to Alolan Sandslash's x4 weakness to Fighting-type pokemon, Fighting-types checks are often a necessity when using this pokemon. Silvally-Fairy is a good partner for Alolan Sandslash, who can take on Hitmonchan and Gurdurr, stopping their priority which would stop Sandslash in its tracks. Silvally-Fairy also offers utility in the forms of hazard removal (if you're not running spin) and pivoting with Parting Shot or U-turn, which ensures Sandslash is kept healthy throughout the game. (i think the set-up set should get a mention) (musharna would also be a nice mention)
  • Other solid Fighting-type checks include Victreebel and Oricorio-E. Victreebel breaks the physically defensive pokemon that Sandslash struggles to break through like Regirock and Alolan Persian while Sandslash offers both a Flying- and Ice-type resistance for Victreebel, checking both (non scarf) Dodrio and Choice Scarf Aurorus, which pressure Victreebel. (ori-e provides a pseudo ground immunity and a way of breaking qwil + ferro with the taunt set)
  • eel is always good and a really good parnter for it
  • Alolan Sandslash is also vulnerable to Fire-type pokemon like Simisear and Combusken, especially when it locks itself into its dual-STAB. Partners like Lanturn and Jellicent are excellent at pressuring these Fire-types and making sure Sandslash isn't the target of their super-effective STAB attacks. Lanturn in addition to being a Fire-type check also provides a slow Volt Switch, which can help Alolan Sandslash come in much easier and threaten something out.
  • now i know that roy said remove hail setters but im not a fan of this change. quite often if you're running scarf slash you're at the mercy of a lot of faster pokemon, like primeape, or even set-up sweepers like omastar, by being able to boost your speed you can potentially revenge kill them
qc 1/3 if u put this in

This should only be done if the team has a different source of hazard control. (Optional) Brick Break can be used for the OHKO against SD Alolan Sandslash in Hail:
(252 Atk Sandslash-Alola Brick Break vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Sandslash-Alola: 236-280 (81 - 96.2%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock)

252 Atk Sandslash-Alola Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Sandslash-Alola: 156-184 (53.6 - 63.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Set Details
========

Slush Rush is the best ability on Alolan Sandslash, allowing it to outspeed every pokemon in the tier under Hail.

Usage Tips
========

Alolan Sandslash's main role is to act as a revenge killer, picking off faster threats such as Swords Dance Dodrio and Lycanroc using its dual-STAB, as well as SD Alolan Sandslash when weakened via Earthquake. Alolan Sandslash has a large amount of resistances that it ought to use frequently to pivot into foes such as Aurorus and Victreebel. While this is not risk-free, and it can be caught by super effective coverage, it is still critical to use Alolan Sandslash very offensively. If opting for Rapid Spin, Alolan Sandslash can be brought in against a passive pokemon like Audino or Clefairy and be able to remove hazards, improving the longevity of its sweeping teammates (really all of them, not just sweepers). Rapid Spin can still be a fairly risky move to lock Alolan Sandslash into, as it can be abused by common setup sweepers like Omastar and Carracosta, as well as and Ghost-types like Jellicent.

Team Options
========

Alolan Sandslash primarily fits on balance teams looking for a good source of role compression, functioning as speed control, entry hazard removal, and an Ice resist all in one. Choice Scarf Alolan Sandslash is well received by Spike-stacking teams which appreciate the fast Rapid Spin that Sandslash offers and the fact it doesn't remove its team's entry hazards like a Defog pokemon would. Qwilfish is an ideal partner for Alolan Sandslash, offering a Fighting and Fire resistance (Qwilfish isn't really a functional Fire resist when you look at the tier's Fire-types, Simisear for example; it only covers Combusken lacking Thunder Punch.). Due to Alolan Sandslash's x4 weakness to Fighting-type pokemon, Fighting-types checks are often a necessity when using this pokemon. Silvally-Fairy is a good partner for Alolan Sandslash, who can take on Hitmonchan and Gurdurr, stopping their priority which would stop Sandslash in its tracks. Silvally-Fairy can also run Defog if you're looking to run Knock Off on Alolan Sandslash instead. Musharna is another good partner for Alolan Sandslash. Not only does it check Fighting-types while Alolan Sandslash can pivot into stray U-Turns (I guess? not really info someone needs when building), but Choice Scarf Alolan Sandslash can make good use of Future Sight support (say more about Future Sight functionality with Alolan Sandslash, ex. the opponent can no longer bring in Pokemon like Gurdurr to switch into Alolan Sandslash with an incoming Future Sight (or something along these lines). Other solid Fighting-type checks include Victreebel and Oricorio-E. Victreebel breaks the physically defensive pokemon that Sandslash struggles to break through like Regirock and Alolan Persian and Oricorio-E provides a Ground immunity. Sandslash offers both an Ice-type resist. (info is pretty basic here, expand) Alolan Sandslash is also vulnerable to Fire-type pokemon like Simisear and Combusken, so partners such as Lanturn and Jellicent which can hard switch into them most of the time are recommended. If Alolan Sandslash opts for Knock Off, it can lure and cripple Eviolite-reliant Pokemon such as Gurdurr (Gurdurr is already mentioned above in Moves as something crippled by Knock Off, so you could mention Bronzor here) and Tangela. Priority users such as Floatzel Hitmonchan (Floatzel has become increasingly rare this meta), and faster Choice Scarf users such as Primeape can help cover these threats. (Add Ludicolo as a partner: Alolan Sandslash's natural ability to threaten Hail setters like Abomasnow and Aurorus allows it to function optimally alongside rain abusers such as Ludicolo, while in return, Ludicolo is able to threaten bulky checks to Alolan Sandslash, such as Jellicent and Regirock. Additionally, the rain set by Ludicolo minimizes damage from Fire-type moves and prevents coverage options like Victreebel's HP Fire from OHKOing Alolan Sandslash outright. What's more, Flying-types like Articuno that scare Ludicolo out are checked by Alolan Sandslash.
(252 SpA Victreebel Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Sandslash-Alola in Rain: 156-184 (53.6 - 63.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO)
(Eelektross not added from yogi's check, agree with this as a partner)

Alolan Sandslash's main role is to act as a revenge killer, picking off faster threats such as Swords Dance Dodrio and Lycanroc using its STAB attacks. Alolan Sandslash has a large amount number of resistances that it ought to use frequently to pivot into foes such as Aurorus and Victreebel. While this is not risk free, and it Alolan Sandslash can be caught by super effective coverage, it is still critical to use Alolan Sandslash very offensively.

========

Alolan Sandslash primarily fits on balance teams looking for a good source of role compression, functioning as speed control a revenge killer / way of keeping faster foes in check, entry hazard removal, and an Ice-type check all in one. Choice Scarf Alolan Sandslash is well received by Spikes stacking (RH) teams, which appreciate the fast Rapid Spin Alolan Sandslash offers and the fact it doesn't remove its team's entry hazards like a Defogger would.
