Clash of the Titans has recently been released and I went out with my family to see it today. I was not dissapointed. It did not recieve very good critical reception, but do not let that deter you. Clash of the Titans is a remake of the 1981 film of the same name. I have seen both films as the older version was on the tube not many days ago, and it was a pretty good movie. The story line is similar to the Disney Film Hercules made sometime back in the 90s, (if I'm not mistaken, it may be the same story) which was one of my favorite Disney films of all time.

I went into the movie with a 50/50 view of whether it would be terrible or amazing. It was a pretty good film, between so-so and great. The film relied heavily on CGI and tended to drift away from the actors. It was produced in a similar style to Lord of the Rings, but with less close ups so to speak.
The story starts out with an infant floating on the water with his deceased mother in a coffin type structure, he is rescued by a fisherman who raises him as his own. Fast forward to adulthood and the son's family is killed by the Greek God of the Underworld, Hades, and this causes the son to be enraged and angry at the gods, and for good reason one would think. So the King and Queen of Argos compare the beauty of their daughter to Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of beauty, which enrages the Gods and they force the Kraken upon the city in 10 days, unless the city Sacrifices the Princess, Andromena.

Naturally, they refuse and it is up to a theoretically unknown person to rise up and save the city. Perseus, the hero, is the bastard son of Zeus and hates the Gods for killing his family. He is the only one who caneuestroy the Kraken and Zeus sends him aid along his journey, all of which he refuses because he "wants to kill the Kraken as a man, not a God." Long story short, he has to go into the Underworld, get Medusa's severed head, and save Argos from the Kraken. He succeeds and refuses Zeus' offer to take a place among the Gods in Olympia.

I enjoyed the movie because it reminded me of my high school english classes when we would read Greek plays and such which I quite enjoyed. The acting was a tad sub-par, and it relied heavily on computer generated graphics. Do not let this deter you, it is a good story and if you like adventure films and/or Greek legends you should enjoy this movie.

honestly i thought it was pretty crappy. Bad acting and bad plot. Special Effects were pretty cool but that was like the only good thing about it..
