[SET COMMENTS]
Claydol has a small niche in UU as a spinner with a good matchup against spinblockers like Doublade and Chandelure and Stealth Rock users like Gigalith and Rhyperior that avoids being passive by providing momentum with Teleport. Psychic is one of Claydol's STAB moves that threatens Fighting- and Poison-types like Machamp, Galarian Weezing, and Roserade, while Earth Power hits Steel- and Fire-types such as Doublade, Cobalion, Chandelure, and Darmanitan, and Teleport can bring in stronger wallbreakers like Pangoro and Machamp. Other options could be running Stealth Rock over Rapid Spin and Ice Beam over one of its STAB moves; the combination of Ice Beam and Psychic pressures common entry hazard removers such as Noivern and Galarian Weezing, but without Earth Power, Claydol can't pressure spinblockers like Doublade and Chandelure or Stealth Rock users like Gigalith and Rhyperior, while running Ice Beam over Psychic means Claydol can't hit Fighting- and Poison-types such as Machamp and Galarian Weezing. The Speed EVs allow Claydol to outspeed Adamant Machamp.
Claydol works well with strong wallbreakers like Darmanitan, Toxtricity, and Pangoro, since it can use Teleport to bring them safely in on Pokemon like Bronzong, Rotom-W, and Necrozma. Due to Claydol's poor coverage, Water-types such as Milotic, Rotom-W, and Mantine can switch in for free, so Electric- and Grass-type Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Toxtricity, Celebi, and Roserade are excellent partners. Claydol's ability Levitate lets it check Ground-types like Rhyperior and Gigalith for the aforementioned Electric-types. Wish support from Sylveon is good, since Claydol has no recovery. Sylveon can also help deal with Dark-types such as Pangoro and Umbreon. In return, Claydol can deal with the Poison-types such as Vileplume and Galarian Weezing that give Sylveon trouble and against annoying Steel-types like Doublade. Swords Dance Incineroar is a threat, so Pokemon that can switch in on it like Milotic and Rhyperior make excellent partners. Claydol needs a partner to put pressure on certain Steel-types that aren't threatened by it like Escavalier and Bronzong, so Fire-type Pokemon, specifically Darmanitan, Arcanine, and Incineroar, the latter of which also checks Chandelure, are particularly good partners. In return, they appreciate Claydol's ability to weaken Ground-types such as Gigalith and Rhyperior and clear entry hazards. Noivern can deal with Claydol's checks like Pangoro, Swords Dance Cobalion, and Celebi, while Claydol can deal with Rhyperior and Gigalith for Noivern. Other revenge killing options for Claydo include Golisopod, which can take out Pokemon like Necrozma.
