[SET COMMENTS]
Clefable's viability comes from the fact that it is the most viable Stealth Rock setter Fairy teams have access to. Alongside being able to set entry hazards, Clefable has the additional benefit of being a good wallbreaker due to its good coverage moves paired with Life Orb. Moonblast is Clefable's STAB attack, hitting a variety of neutral targets such as Hippowdon, Drapion, Hatterene, and Gastrodon for good damage. Flamethrower hits Steel- and Grass-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Corviknight, Celebi, and Whimsicott for super effective damage. Psychic is particularly good for beating Poison-type Pokemon such as Toxapex and Galarian Weezing. Clefable should try to set Stealth Rock early- or mid-game and can use its presence as a wallbreaker to set it on forced switches. Due to its low Speed as a wallbreaker, it should generally focus on wallbreaking early- to mid-game so that its teammates will have an easier time sweeping late-game. Magic Guard is the ability of choice, as it prevents Clefable from being worn down by Life Orb recoil, hazards, and status, allowing it to set up Stealth Rock and wallbreak more comfortably. The Speed investment allows Clefable to outspeed Choice Band Crawdaunt and Corviknight.
All of Clefable's teammates appreciate its Stealth Rock support. Stealth Rock is particularly good for breaking a huge threat in Cloyster’s Focus Sash, as well as chipping down massive threats to Fairy teams like Charizard, Salazzle, and Rotom-H. Clefable's Flamethrower is also appreciated to beat Steel-type Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Corviknight, which would be otherwise be problematic. Alolan Ninetales's ability to set Aurora Veil allows Clefable to take attacks from and beat Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Excadrill and Choice Scarf Dracovish. Grimmsnarl and Mimikyu appreciate Clefable’s ability to break past physical walls like Hippowdon and Toxapex that prevent them from sweeping. In return, they can pick off Pokemon such as Gengar and Jirachi using their priority attacks in Sucker Punch and Shadow Sneak. Ribombee patches up Clefable’s otherwise poor Speed by setting Sticky Web, which allows Clefable to outspeed Pokemon such as Mamoswine, Toxtricity, and Bisharp. Clefable’s poor Speed also allows it to take advantage of Hatterene’s Trick Room well, as it allows Clefable to outspeed a variety of fast threats like Excadrill under sand, Galarian Darmanitan, and Zeraora, giving it more turns to wallbreak mid- to late-game. Stealth Rock support is especially good for Choice Scarf Gardevoir, as it breaks Dugtrio and the aforementioned Cloyster’s Focus Sash, allowing Gardevoir to beat these two Pokemon, which would otherwise check it and prevent it from beating sand Ground and rain Water as efficiently.
