I'm pretty sure this is a Ditto

[Pros]

It's a groovy revenge killer.

Transform copies Mega Evolutions.

It can take on new boosting Pokemon, such as Swords Dance Talonflame and Blaziken.

The Substitute nerf is a good thing for Ditto.

[Cons]

It's limited in utility; it can only perform one specific role.

When played against well, the best it can do is be a typical Choice Scarf Pokemon.

It's susceptible to all hazards.

It's severely outclassed by Goomy in the "cute, gelatinous blob" department.

[Set Recommendations]

Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
IVs: 2 Spe
Sassy Nature (+SpD, -Spe)
- Transform

This is it, the set you've all been waiting for. Ditto copies all stats, including boosts, so this set takes advantage of that by outspeeding the opponent with Choice Scarf, selecting the appropriate attack, and dishing out damage. IVs are for Hidden Power Ice, which doesn't copy over when Ditto transforms. HP doesn't translate over either, so invest as much as you can there, in terms of EVs. Low Speed is to allow you to beat other Ditto, since you'll Struggle after they Struggle. Special Defense investment is to weaken the sting of Zoroark's attacks, since Ditto cannot copy an intact Illusion.

[Checks and Counters]

Nothing counters Ditto, really, besides Zoroark. Your best bet is to not use stat boosting moves like Dragon Dance or Swords Dance, because Ditto will use those against you. Ultimately, the best Ditto can do is transform into a Choice Scarf variant of any Pokemon, so defensive Pokemon such as Hippowdown and Skarmory are good checks simply by being slow, defensive Pokemon that thrive off of changing their moves. Substitute prevents Imposter from working, so use that to your advantage if you're looking to boost.

(i went ahead and added periods to the end of each bullet; not sure if it's really necessary, but it can't hurt)

Birkal apparently the pros and cons section should be in full sentences (post 20 http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/sixth-gen-grammar-prose-team-queue-here-we-go-again.3489979/) so i just went over again really quickly and added a subject to each one

tbh i liked it more the way it was before, but

/me shrugs

If you can keep hazards off of the field, a sashed ditto set is invaluable; most people expect it to run a scarf when they see it, so being able to withstand an extra hit can be invaluable. I can't totally remember the logic behind that, but it should probably be noted that it is viable to run other items as everyone expects a choice scarf, and as such that assumption can be used to your advantage.

What about an Assault Vest set? He's bulkier than the opponent and, with proper prediction and max investment in speed, it can still be a good revenge killer, even if slower. Or just switch in a choice-locked-whatever poke. Only problem is that it cannot set-up, but so does the Choice Scarf one too.

If the opponent's Pokémon would work best with an Assault Vest, they'd be using an Assault Vest. You simply can't use Ditto to beat the opponent at his own game.

actually, ditto copies the opponent's stats THEN applies its own assault vest boost, meaning it gets a double AV boost if the opponent is wearing one.

also, quick powder doesn't work after you transform

sorry this is a late reply but ditto can't guarantee that it will be able to take on aegislash, for starters stance change only works on aegislash so ditto will copy the ability but will be stuck in either attack mode or defense mode (even if it attacks it will be forever in defense mode) with the coincidental stats and without the ability to take full advantage of the entire moveset means it doesn't really check aegislash at all, the most likely scenario is your ditto-slash hits their kings shield and loses all your buffs, you can either swap out and let aegislash boost more or u can sac ur ditto to the slower but sure to ohko shadow sneak.

T It can takes on new boosting Pokemon, such as Swords Dance Aegislash and Talonflame.

just one little change, pokemon was typoed.

Thanks, Flora.

RE: Other Items: Sure, Ditto can use Focus Sash or Assault Vest. That's exactly the same concept as Choice Specs or Band. Sure, it can use them, but they're pretty outclassed by Choice Scarf in terms of utility. Feel free to use those items if you're feeling led, but that's on your own terms.

RE: Aegislash: Good call; I'll remove it from the analysis.

It's technically not susceptible to all hazards like you say. Due to the timing of Imposter, Ditto is essentially immune to Sticky Web. Could be worth noting.

The speed IV for Ditto should now be 0 instead of 2 since Hidden Power's base power is no longer dependent on the IVs of your Pokemon. A 0 speed IV gives you the same type and power, but lets you be as slow as possible for the rare ditto struggle war.

^ Sorry about that, I didn't realize it was a joke. Anyway, I have another pro: it's technically immune to Sticky Web, because its speed drops BEFORE it transforms.
