Counter That Doubles Team #1 [Totem Vs Nollan] FIGHT!!! 1-0 Nollan

bisharp.gif

Bisharp @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 116 HP / 252 Atk / 140 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Protect

Bisharp puts a lot of pressure on Aegislash because King's Shield is countered by Defiant. It also makes sure our opponent does not choose an Intimidate user to counter Conkeldurr/Mega Pinsir. Sucker Punch is also nice for outspeeding Khan and doing good damage to it. Life Orb is to up the power of his moves. Knock Off for a reliable STAB, Sucker Punch for priority, Iron Head for a secondary STAB, and Protect for obvious reasons.

Sucker Punch is also nice for outspeeding Khan and doing good damage to it. Focus Sash is used to make sure he can tank one of Kyurem-B's Earth Power and KO back with Iron Head.

I'd almost prefer Life Orb on this spread. Reason being that this is actually the standard LO spread, while Focus Sash tends to run max attack Adamant, max speed, 4 HP, since you don't really care about bulk. This spread is actually made to outspeed 4 speed Rotom-W and still retain as much power as possible with Bulk as the dumpstat.

Ok, sure, I'll change it :)

'TuckyFriedChikn (Chandelure) @ Spell Tag
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 20 HP / 12 Def / 224 SAtk / 236 Spd
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heat Wave
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
- Protect

Zach's set he used in SPL. Infiltrator fucks up Totem's substitute shenanigans, especially Aegislash. Pair Chandelure with something like Amoonguss/Togekiss for best results (Togekiss trolls Kyurem-B better by re-directing Earth Power, but Amoonguss provides this team some much needed resistance to Electric-types)

Encore is the way to go!

infernape.gif

Infernape @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 20 Atk / 236 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
-Quick Guard
-Close Combat
-Fire Blast
-Encore

This gives us a fast Quick Guard for Kangaskhan. It also gives us yet another way to donk Kangaskhan other than what we already have (I'm paranoid). Keldeo and Terrakion are more common as fast Fighting types with Quick Guard, but Infernape is the best bet in this case for being able to use Encore on the Subs, Protects, King's Shields, and Fake Outs. It also can hit Aeg harder than Keldeo or Terrakion can.

20 Atk Life Orb Infernape Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Kangaskhan: 354-421 (100.8 - 119.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Infernape: 93-109 (31.7 - 37.2%)

20 Atk Life Orb Infernape Close Combat vs. 228 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-B: 354-421 (79 - 93.9%)
236 SpA Life Orb Infernape Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 281-330 (86.7 - 101.8%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO
(^conveniently combines with 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Feint vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 25-30 (7.7 - 9.2%) to offer a very good chance at getting the KO that way through King's Shield if we want it.)

Since Kyu-B is already dealt with pretty well by Conkeldurr, I decided to focus more on Aeg, which meant going for Special Attacking prowess. Luckily, since the Kanga spread being used is fast, rather than bulk, we can still OHKO it with Close Combat with only 20 Atk EVs and Life Orb. Kyu-b gets donked pretty hard too. Encore can screw all 3 of the opponent's mons over, as mentioned above. Quick Guard will also provide some backdoor protection against Talonflame and Thundurus, among others.

Plz comment on the set. I feel Protect over Quick Guard might be better, but then Talonflame is a huge threat to the team.

Liepard @ Dread Plate
Prankster
Jolly Nature
208 Spe / 252 HP / 24 Def / 24 SpD
-Fake Out
-Encore
-Foul Play
-Swagger

Liepard may seem like a shitty, douchey Pokemon. Damn straight. It's also close to perfect for this team.

For one, +1 encore entirely dicks the following moves on totem's team: fake out, sub (x2), protect, king's shield, sucker punch, basically entirely removing their usefulness. It can even hit Aegi THROUGH kings shield AND sub. And unlike srk's nomination, it works equally well under Trick Room, since most of its moves are prio.

For two, it has a faster FO than Kangaskhan. This is very useful in helping Jellicent set Trick Room, or just basically any other general purpose on the team. Fake Out is good, super fast Fake Out is great.

Foul Play and Swagger exploit the fact that the two Special Attackers on Totem's team have 150 and 170 physical attack. Aegi in blade is always KOed and I am totally ok with it avoiding this fate by going to Shield—we're not even using our attack and now we can lock him into KS. Though +0 foul play only 3hkoes Kyurem-B, it does NOT appreciate swagger, which can basically force it to stay out in the open, and +2 foul play can KO with a high roll.

This nomination basically combines the best of both worlds—the powerful dark STAB of luxray's with the fast encore of srk's. Best of all, it's ridiculously difficult to find a Pokemon that can counter this set back.

Not really. Just outplay the coinflip.

I don't like voting for myself (if that's even allowed in this idk) so I'll vote for Pocket's Chandelure. I can't bring myself to vote for swagcat :(

You guys have til I check this thread tomorrow to vote.

Also, future voting rounds will be 36 hours long. This is taking far too long to only be getting 7 votes in 24 hours then no votes.

With only 4 votes, Pwnemon's Liepard set wins the vote!

Ok guys, next round starts nowish. Time to counter Liepard for Totem's team. You have TWO DAYS to make your nominations so do not delay! I am ramping up speed on this one because of general inactivity and because I'm sure everyone wants to see the battle already!

togekiss.gif

Togekiss @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 200 Def / 60 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Follow Me
- Protect
- Safeguard
- Air Slash

Togekiss's Air Slash flinches Conkeldurr and Jellicent and does a shit load to Pinsir. Dazzling Gleam destroys Liepard. Sets up Safeguard to protect the team from Jellicent's Wisp and Liepard's Swagger. Follow Me redirects Fighting and Dark STAB (doesn't redirect Fake Out and Feint, though) from Conkeldurr and Liepard. The beauty of this set is that Follow Me has higher priority than Prankster Encore, so Liepard cannot prevent Togekiss from doing its #1 job of Follow Me spam (aka Liepard aint getting to our powerhouses). Togekiss complements well with Kangaskhan, Aegislash, and Kyurem-B, absorbing Fighting-, Dark-, and Dragon-type moves for the team, as well as keeping the rest of the team free from status afflictions.

some calcs:

60+ SpA Togekiss Air Slash vs. 24 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 240-284 (86.6 - 102.5%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO

252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 248 HP / 200 Def Togekiss: 211-250 (56.5 - 67%) -- ~19% chance to 2HKO after Sitrus Berry

60+ SpA Togekiss Air Slash vs. 32 HP / 96 SpD Conkeldurr: 272-324 (75.7 - 90.2%) -- 6.25% chance to OHKO after Life Orb recoil; 75% chance to OHKO after 2 LO recoils

Trait: Water Absorb

What better way to fuck with nollan's team than by giving the blood totem a pringles man of his own? Hint there is no better way. Jelli beats the living shit out of everything on nollan's team and not to mention we're going to capitalize on him having such a physically based team by changing things up by adding this sexy ass beast.

Conkelderp: lol only damaging move is ice punch which jelli laughs off like no one's business.
Jelli: All it really does is burn our jelly which our jelli doesn't really mind and not to mention we have our own TR as a counter measure to nollan's tr.
Hitlerpard: Impossible to counter such a (BAN ME PLEASE) set but jelli does well against liepard by avoiding a 2hko after sitrus + swagger boosted foul play while being able to burn hitlerpard to reduce foul play damage.
Pinsir: Admittedly gives it some trouble due to return being strong as fuck but jelli avoids getting kod by any combination of double attacking that nollan can dish + return. Jelli can then burn it in return and thus cripple it for the rest of the game or set up our own tr to get rid of the fact that pinsir outspeeds fucking everything totem already has.

Overall adding in a jelli of our own lets us dick with all of nollan's current team while providing support to the team via burns against his heavily physically based team and is able to set up our own tr and/or remove nollans so it allows us to be a semi tr team which matches up well. HAIL FUCKING PRINGLES
