Counter That Doubles Team #1 [Totem Vs Nollan] FIGHT!!! 1-0 Nollan

I mean, obviously the goal of Overheat is to obliterate Kyurem-B even behind a sub. It's the only thing you absolutely need to use Overheat against anyway. I could go to Fire Blast, which 2HKOs Togekiss through Sitrus without having to deal with drops, but it doesn't really do enough to Cube in my opinion. 252+ SpA Life Orb Chandelure Fire Blast vs. 228 HP / 28 SpD Kyurem-B: 294-347 (65.6 - 77.4%) isn't going to be KOing from behind a Sub any time soon.

Aside from 2HKOing Togekiss through Sitrus without drops, another neat thing about Fire Blast though is this: 252+ SpA Life Orb Chandelure Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-W: 131-155 (43 - 50.9%). Looking at the damage output in raw numbers, Chandelure has a 14/16 chance to not activate Rotom-W's Sitrus, which means it can then ensure the KO the next turn with Shadow Ball, meaning we can 2HKO without needing to predict!

I don't like Heat Wave however... I think if Chandelure is picked, it should be used as a nuke. Against Kangaskhan you'll want to use WoW and against Rotom-W or Aegislash (Heat Wave doesn't OHKO) you'll want to use Shadow Ball anyway. I just don't know how useful the spread is in this case.

So, thoughts on Overheat/Fire Blast? Are the drops worth it to nuke Kyu-B?

I just figured that Togekiss would be a huge bitch, and it would be nice to totally not give a fuck about Togekiss and slam Kyurem-B/Aegislash /Kangaskhan with Heat Wave ;s. I can appreciate the raw power of Fire Blast (and Overheat?) to 2HKO Togekiss, but sometimes you just want to get at the target without losing a turn or two trying to take down this annoying fairy plane.

Now that I have come back to this thread to discover my team now looks really weird and has Mega Pinsir over Mega Mawile for some strange reason, I have some things to say/nominate

no offense but Liepard is one of those Pokemon that I would never ever use w/o Mega Gengar, what is this torture =/ not to mention it isn't even Sashed

Also why is there a Pinsir here you do realize the only person legally allowed to use Pinsir is Laga rite? Plus Pinsir is like really sub optimal when you consider Conkeldurr exists on this team and there are so many Megas that would've been more useful here (ahem Mawile anyone? why can't we have Mawile I WANT TO USE MAWILE)

Also what is this lame TR core who the heck uses TR what a dum idea when I find out who made my team have TR on it they'll have some world record sprinting to do >:( Didn't Pwnemon tell you TR sux? You people never learn

All of you should be ashamed; srsly TOTEM's team actually looks like a team; you people are clearly setting me up for embarrassment; anyone who expects me to win with this team has problems

ferrothorn.gif

Ferrothorn @ Lum Berry
Trait: Anticipation Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Atk / 16 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Brave Nature
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Protect

Imo the best choice by far. Makes Kangaskhan's life miserable, Gyro Balls Toge and Kyu-B, murders (and walls) lame Rotom-W, and Leech Seeds Aegi to ware it down (Also underspeeds every conceivable Pokemon ever making it useful in TR). Plus NOTHING on the current opposing team has a way to OHKO it (only Kanga can 2HKO and will take 50% recoil in the process) and that's not even factoring in any Leech Seed recovery + Protect stalling.

You might say "what about Aegislash"? Well Liepard already makes its life miserable, plus we already have one more slot to deal w/ Aegislash AFTER we know all its partners, which imo is a key area for making the choice of how to kill it (should use Malamar y/y?). Not to mention Will-O-Wisp + Leech Seed wares that turd down quickly.

Anyway, here are some calcs:

244+ Atk Ferrothorn Power Whip vs. 252 HP / 116 Def Rotom-W: 290-344 (95.3 - 113.1%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
244+ Atk Ferrothorn Gyro Ball (122 BP) vs. 248 HP / 200 Def Togekiss: 300-354 (80.4 - 94.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
244+ Atk Ferrothorn Gyro Ball (150 BP) vs. 228 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-B: 428-506 (95.5 - 112.9%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
244+ Atk Ferrothorn Gyro Ball (150 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Kangaskhan: 214-253 (60.7 - 71.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
244+ Atk Ferrothorn Awesomeness vs 252 HP Aegislash: N/A-N/A (N/A% - N/A%) -- guaranteed Leech Seed + Protect stalling

So basically someone call an ambulance TOTEM's gonna need it for the remnants of his team when I'm done with it

Pwnemon nominated Liepard. He is to blame for your trouble, as well as many more of your troubles. He likes to screw things up.

Very well I will nominate Mawile for you
303.gif

Mawile @ Assault Vest
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Brave Nature
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Fang
- Protect

Unfortunately you already have a Mega on a team, so I can't nominate Mega Mawile for you. However, normal Mawile is really, really good. It can hit KCube for massive damage with an attack that rivals Steelix (giant metal snake everyone, who isn't afraid of that!). Meanwhile, it shrugs off its hits with Assault Vest, which also helps against every other member of his team except Kang, but you have Intimidate for that. Add Mawile's brilliant typing onto that. Mawile. Walls. Everything.

Play Rough is not needed. THe only mon it hits super-effective is KCube, but Iron Head also deals with Togekiss. Meanwhile, you have both Sucker Punch and Fire Fang to deal with Aegislash. Sucker Punch doesn't suffer against King's Shield, Fire Fang to stop it from setting Subs. You cannot lose! Rotom-W's a bitch, but don't worry, you have Liepard for that. Just Encore Will-O-Wisp, and then it'll become useless after it burns your entire team.

Also what is this lame TR core who the heck uses TR what a dum idea when I find out who made my team have TR on it they'll have some world record sprinting to do >:( Didn't Pwnemon tell you TR sux? You people never learn

Apparently someone that thought that Conk and Jellicent actually work together. This dumbass. Yeah it sucks, I know. Unfortunately you'll have to deal with it. It kinda sucks that you're suffering so bad because that idiot actually thought those two make a good pair.

All of you should be ashamed; srsly TOTEM's team actually looks like a team; you people are clearly setting me up for embarrassment; anyone who expects me to win with this team has problems

And I thought you were a good Pokemon trainer. Stop your whining, give your Pokemon the love they deserve, and act like the good battler you are and beat that Blood Totem. Actually, he's more like Blood Noobem. He sucks; you should have an easy win.

Nollan, thoughts on Curse or Swords Dance over Leech Seed on Ferrothorn? This way it can always break Aegislash's Substitute and can be a wrecking ball under Trick Room. With Swords Dance, you can probably forego some Attack EVs and invest a bit more into its bulk.

Here's another nomination: Klefki

klefki.gif
sitrusberry.png

Klefki @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SDef
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Safeguard
- Swagger
- Light Screen
- Imprison

May seem redundant running two Prankster Swag users, but not really. Klefki offers priority Safeguard, which prevents Rotom-W from burning our entire team. It pairs well with Liepard, too; the cat Fake Out a mon while Klefki starts spreading confusion or set up Safeguard / Light Screen / Imprison. Klefki shuts down Togekiss, one of the pivotal members of that team, with priority Imprison and Swagger. Togekiss can no longer shield the team from status conditions, and its Follow Me support would be unreliable once it is confused.

Once Klefki sets up Safeguard, it can also proceed to Swagger Mega Pinsir and Conkeldurr and pump their attack to insane levels. It also pairs well with Liepard, who now doesn't need to waste a turn using Swagger and go straight to Foul Play spam. Since 4/5 of team 1 is specially offensive, Light Screen would also enhance team 2's resilience to team 1's assaults. It also means that Swagger's Atk boosts wont backfire on us.

Check this out: 252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 68+ SpD Jellicent through Light Screen: 172-203 (42.5 - 50.2%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO / activate Sitrus.

I thought team 1 was unsalvageable with the awkward addition of Liepard and the loss of mega slot in Pinsirite, but I think Klefki will do the trick :d Mega Pinsir's Feint actually comes in handy if team 1 decides to get cute with a Quick Guard user for their final slot.

I considered Light Clay > Sitrus Berry, but I believe keeping Klefki healthy is more important than the additional 3 turns of Light Screen. What do you guys think?

DON"T BE A PUSS PUSS. A true gamer will use whatever it takes to win games >:^{0} Admittedly it is kinda sad that team 1 "needs" a second Prankster user to save itself

It is a teambuilding project, because you are trying to find the best fit for the team with the remaining team slots n_n

Don't judge a Pokemon by its cover - read my post justifying the selection of Klefki before you reject it

Just worried that new players will think that Mega Pinsir/ Liepard are the best options for a team, nbd

No I don't really agree with the set up here, Ferrothorn is meant to be lasting a long time while threatening everything, and Leech Seed recovery helps it do that. Curse or Swords Dance would require Trick Room to really pay off imo. Curse I can see working somewhat but I'd prefer Ferrothorn to last as long as possible rather than outright OHKO things, especially since Leech Seed is far more effective against Aegislash than either of those options.
