Discuss, predict, analyse this year's Tour de France. Who will prevail as King of the Mountains. Who will cross the line in Paris and, wrapped in green, claim the title of fastest in the world. Who will stand atop the Champs Elysées clad in the maillot jaune as Champion of the Tour?

Anything tour-related is pretty much open for discussion: team strategy, who will do well on a certain day, whatever comes to mind.

I'll start this off by saying that my money lies with Andy Schleck. He has shown great form and proved at the end of Stage 8, that he is the best of the boys in the mountains.

Without further ado, let the discussion begin!

edit: fair enough, don't wanna instigate anything.

I think that Lance is not gonna be able to win again, as he's simply too old at this point. Cantador is not too far behind, maybe he'll win it again. It'd be nice to see some fresh faces though.

I see the potential for this thread to turn into a trivial "Doped, not doped, doped, not doped" who-can-yell-the-loudest type discussion, but I would appreciate it if we could stay somewhat on topic.

It's not a question of doping or old age right now. Lance had a horrible day, lost 10 minutes, he's out of the discussion, period. I wouldn't be surprised to see him work for Leipheimer in the next days.

Overall, it's bee great sof far. In the last years, I nearly died of boredom in the first week. This time, we had crashes, the cobblestones (which I loved), and the Alps.

And we still ahven't even gotten to the real mountain... this year, the Pyranees are going to be infernal.

I'm excited for this tour. There just seems to be many possible winners this time around, and they all see to be chugging right along.

Contador said that "Last year Schleck gave me a few problems and this year he will be my biggest rival." I believe that this year's Tour will be a battle between these two riders. Some credit must be given to Cadel Evans who has managed to take the yellow jersey, but to be honest, I don't give him much of a chance to win this year. His team is poor compared to Astana and Saxo Bank and he is, comparatively, an inferior climber. Andy, it appears, is the best climber (better than Contador) but is terrible in the Time Trial (he lost 1.09 minutes in just over 9 km during the prologue). He is gonna need a lot of time over Contador and Evans when he gets out of the Pyrennes. The real question is, how much can he get and how much does he need?
