[OVERVIEW]
On paper, Cyndaquil looks like it should be a good sweeper as it is the only Eruption user in Little Cup, however, with average Speed for an offensive Pokemon it finds itself revenge killed often, due to its atrocious Special Attack and movepool it is easily checked. Eruption is Cyndaquil's only way of dealing consistently good damage, but is reliant on Cyndaquil's health being high ans with its weakness to Stealth Rock and dreadful bulk it is very hard to do so. It's niche is unnecessary in LC and is outclassed massively by Ponyta who boasts higher stats in every slot and a more diverse movepool. Larvesta also outclasses Cyndaquil as it has a better attacking stat as well as a much more diverse movepool and a nice dual-typing for checking Fighting-type Pokemon, while also having the ability to pivot with U-turn. Houndour is another option over Cyndaquil as it gets Nasty Plot, allowing it to hit a lot harder than Cyndaquil as well as STAB Sucker Punch to make sure it less likely to be revenge killed by faster Pokemon.

[SET COMMENTS]
Cyndaquil relies on Choice Scarf and Eruption to outspeed and kill many offensive Pokemon in the tier. However, due to it being forced to run Choice Scarf to have any sort of usage, it finds itself giving Stealth Rockers such as Kabuto and Onix free switches when coming in on an Eruption. Due to Cyndaquils typing, it takes quite a fair amount of damage when it switches in on these hazards which reduce its effectiveness tremendously when Eruption is weakened. Ponyta outclasses Cyndaquil in every way other than the niche of Eruption, beating it in every stat as well as having a much better movepool that is not at all reliant on weak attacks or Hidden Powers. Larvesta and Houndour are also potential Choice Scarf Pokemon that outclass Cyndaquil, with Larvesta getting access to fast U-turns and Houndour having Fire- and Dark-type STAB.
