daddybuzzwole's april fools sprites

[DaddyBuzzwole]

i've been meaning to put all my contributions to the showdown april fools' day sprite project in one place for a while now. used to be in my signature but that got too crowded so i'm putting them here instead. i did the shinies and back sprites for almost all of these as well, but i'll only include them here when there's an additional joke

2024
+ shiny, , , + shiny, + shiny, , (note: i did not do the shiny for this one), + back, + back (note: i did the back sprite in 2025), , , + shiny, , , , + shiny,

2025
+ back, (original), (hoenn), (sinnoh), (unova), (kalos) + shiny, (alola) + back, + shiny, , , + shiny, + shiny, , , + back, , + shiny + shiny back

2026

a handful of notes and behind-the-scenes tidbits:

• archaludon was the first one of these that i did
• i had the idea for spearow in 2024 but legally couldn't draw it at the time because i was working for disney and the terms of my employment contract meant it would've been property of the company because it's a disney ip. pretty much the second my time with them was up, i sat down and drew it
• originally, pecharunt's sprite was going to be part of terapagos-terastal's because it's a "peaches" reference, but i couldn't fit it in comfortably so i made it its own sprite
• mega lucario z's sprite was originally going to just be the back sprite for mega staraptor, but we figured it works better as lucario's
• i love putting little easter eggs in my work. a lot of these are fairly noticeable, but some are more obscure. for example:
  • the christmas lights on stellar terapagos are colored to represent all 18 pokemon types in their official order
  • in solgaleo's sprite, i replaced the little face at the bottom of the mgm logo with the strange souvenir
  • there are a couple in the mega heatran sprite, but the least noticeable is that the yellow and red background in that one part is the gen 4 background for magma storm
• i almost always draw these on a 96x96 canvas the whole way through. the sole exception is mega heatran's, which i drew in 480x480 and scaled down. here it is in the original resolution
• mega heatran is exactly 67 frames
