Terapagos is mainly known for its Calm Mind variants, which is why it might surprise some that it is is capable of running a defensive set. While Terapagos' stats and typing may look unimpressive for a defensive Pokemon of Ubers UU's calibur, the combination of its ability in Tera Shell - which allows it to resist any one move from full health - and the move Roar, allows it to act as a one-time check to just about every setup sweeper. Furthermore, Its access to a bevy of coveted support options helps cement its admittedly small niche within the metagame. Hazard removal is often in high demand, but Rapid Spin in particular is typically not seen as very reliable, due to the presence of Giratina as an incredible spinblocker. To remedy this however, Terapagos can use toxic to punish opposing attempts to deny Rapid Spin. An additional support option at Terapagos' disposal is Stealth Rock, although it often struggles to find opportunities to set the hazard without sacrificing its ever-important Tera Shell. To avoid remaining too passive, Terapagos has a variety of different attacking moves it can run in its fourth move slot. Ice beam hits Giratina, Clodsire, and OHKOs Landorus even without investment; Dark pulse also hits Giratina, although for slightly less damage, alongside Solgaleo and the occasional Spectrier; Scorching Sands can also be run as a way of irritating Magearna and crippling physical setup sweepers, but it is not recommended due to its unreliability at doing either of those jobs. Terapagos' main issue is that it often struggles to accomplish much once Tera Shell activates, which is why pairing it with Pokemon with Wish or Healing Wish such as Alomomola, can potentially allow it to perform at greater heights than it usually does.
