Den of Two Dragons
Alright, it's been a while since I last wrote a RMT but I couldn't pass up the opportunity with this team. This team basically started up as a compilation of my favorite looking pokemon. But after tweaking and testing I found that this team actually worked quite nicely. The teams strategy revolves around my two favorite dragon type pokemon, Latias and Salamence. They play a game of hit and run with Specs Draco Meteors, ripping huge holes in the opposing team. Through team support it becomes pretty easy to repeatedly switch both of them in.So here it is:
AERODACTYL

Aerodactyl (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/6 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
---
After much deliberation, and although I truly hate suicide leads, I have finally decided that Aerodactyl would be the best lead for this team. The reasoning behind this is simply the blistering fast Taunt. This team is wrecked by Stealth Rocks since it relys heavily on hit and runs by Salamence and repeated switches by Gyarados to handle some key threats like Heatran and Scizor. Aerodactyl also provides guaranteed Stealth Rocks pretty much every time, which of course for an offensive teams is pretty key. As for the attacking moves I've decided to go with Rock Slide as my primary STAB over Stone Edge because of the obvious accuracy issues and the sweet flinch rate. Earthquake is there kind of there just as a filler, but it provides some type coverage against steel types, fire types, electric types, and rock types. Overall a great lead, and despite the fact that I don't like suicide leads I completely love this one.
SCIZOR
Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/6 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit
---
Ah, what team is complete without a Scizor right? To be honest I downright hate it, but it provides an absolutely necessary role for this team; A slow U-Turn. This team relys so heavily on Salamence and Latias that I can't have them taking unnecessary blows, resisted or not. By using Scizor as a punching bag, Salamence and Latias can come out for free, and often times that means KO time. Apart from the powerful U-Turns Scizor also provides the team with a great revenge killer. We all already know how great CB Bullet Punch is so lets not get into that. Apart from those two moves the rest of his moveset gets very little use. Pursuit was added so that I would not have to risk a speed tie with my Latias, and trapping ghosts is fun too. Superpower is just for hitting other Scizors and other fighting weak pokemon hard, admittedly though it gets little use. I was hoping to revamp Scizor to a more special defensive build for handling opposing Latias better, and maybe dropping the CB for leftovers with Roost over Superpower, but we'll discuss that in a bit.
GYARADOS
Gyarados (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Taunt
---
Gyarados, my main answer to tons of threats. Everything from fighting attacks, to steel and water resists, fire and ground attacks. This guy takes the brunt of the beating along with Scizor. Gyarados is also my main answer to pesky stall teams. Gyarados used to be my lead and it worked nicely for a while, but SR was getting to be way to much for Salamence to handle so this happened. There are still remenents of the lead Gyarados, mainly Taunt. Taunt has proved to be a great assett in many battles and often provides Latias and Salamence switches without the fear of a status move ruining my chances to win. Waterfall is obviously there for it's main STAB. Earthquake, well I just plain like it, although sometimes I wish I had Ice Fang. Dragon Dance was added after it's switch from lead, but it proves very useful as a mid-game sweeping threat and allows me access to quick taunts and such. Pretty great pokemon.
LATIAS
Latias (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Thunder
---
Latias, the first of the two dragons. SpecsLatias is a force to be reckoned with. Latias seriously packs a huge wallop. Draco Meteor is her main weapon of choice, obliterating pretty much anything in its path. Even steel types take a huge amount of damage, softening them up for Gyarados later. Blissey is a nuisance to this set, although not many Choiced Special attackers enjoy Blissey all to much either. The other moves on her set are pretty much fillers, sometimes I'll use Thunder against rain teams but other than that I just take potshots at the opposing team with Draco Meteor. Dragon Pulse is there simply for a secondary STAB option and for late game sweeps. Latias also boasts a great amount of resistances. Those resistances paired up with taunts from the other team members give her alot of chances to switch in for small amounts of damage or on a predicted Eathquake.
LUCARIO
Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Extremespeed
- Swords Dance
---
Lucario is here to take advantage of the Pursuit bait that is Latias. Latias attracts Tyranitars like a moths to a flame, and Lucario is here to take advantage of it's 4x dark resistance and Swords Dance. Lucario also provides easy KO's against Blisseys that try and come wall Latias. This is a basic SDLuke that works quite nicely when its counters have been eliminated, which isn't too hard seeing as Gyarados is Rotom bait and it gets OHKO'ed by Latias Draco Meteor. Lucario makes a nice addition to this team, patching up any holes that Latias might have left behind. Not to mention that the synergy between Latias and Lucario is perfect.
SALAMENCE
Salamence (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Hydro Pump
- Dragon Pulse
---
The second of the two dragons, Salamence. SpecsMence is an absolute monster. Just like Latias, It demolishes anything but Blissey, and takes a huge chunk off of any steel type that switches in. Salamence though has the added bonus of also carrying some of the most powerful moves in the game, Fire Blast and Hydro Pump. Fire Blast is great for nailing Steel types looking to switch in on the expected dragon attack, and Hydro Pump's great neutral coverage often nets me some interesting KO's. Again Dragon Pulse was added as its secondary STAB option for late game sweeping. Salamence also gets lots of easy switches with its great resistances and Ground immunities, which when paired up with Gyarados's and Aerodactyl's taunt work nicely for scoring KO's. Salamence, like Latias, relys on hit and run tactics but is greatly weakend by its SR weakness, SO keeping SR off the field is a must.
Ability: Pressure
