[OVERVIEW]

Dewgong is completely outclassed as a bulky Water-type by Pokemon like Quagsire, Lanturn, and Jellicent due to their better typing and lack of Stealth Rock weakness. Quagsire and Jellicent also have reliable recovery, and all the have more valuable utility options such as Unaware for Quagsire, Taunt and Will-O-Wisp for Jellicent, and Heal Bell for Lanturn. Dewgong's awful defensive typing also makes it extremely passive, so it can't even utilize its niche to the fullest extent; While it can be used on stall as a Perish trapper, Pyukumuku has a more valuable role on stall as a trapper with Block that can wear down opposing Pokemon with Toxic, punish setup sweepers with Unaware, and use reliable recovery in Recover.

The main goal of this set is to trap passive and defensive Pokemon and stall them out with Rest until they inevitably fall to Perish Song. This seems good on paper, but in actual play, this niche isn't important enough to separate Dewgong from Pyukumuku, which fills almost the same role as Dewgong but does a better job of it due to its massive defensive stats, better typing in pure Water, and lack of Stealth Rock weakness. Recover is also far more consistent as a form of recovery. This set is also extremely vulnerable to Pokemon that carry Taunt, which completely shut Dewgong down and render it useless.

[OVERVIEW]
Dewgong is completely outclassed as a bulky water-type by Pokemon like Quagsire, Silvally-Water, and Jellicent (Why? better defensive typings and not rock weak), but has access to a Perish Trapping moveset, which is something, not a lot of Pokemon in the tier are able to utilize. Dewgong has decent bulk but loses to a large portion of the meta. Jellicent, being one of the best Pokemon in the tier is unable to be trapped due to Water Absorb, and many Fighting, and Electric-types, like Primeape, Gurdurr, and Eelektross just outright beat Dewgong. Dewgong can be somewhat usable on stall as a Perish Trapper, but even then there's no reason to use it over Pyukumuku, which is a stall staple that has a more valuable niche on stall as a trapper with Block, that can wear down opposing Pokemon with Toxic, and punish set up sweepers with Unaware (Also mention that Pyukumuku has more reliable recovery in Recover and has better defenses and defensive typing). Even with its near-exclusive niche, Dewgong struggles to separate itself from the competition it faces as a bulky water in the tier and as a result, should not be used over the Pokemon mentioned previously.

Dewgong has one saving grace in a Perish Trapping moveset, which is something, not a lot of Pokemon in the tier are able to utilize. Dewgong has decent bulk but loses to a large portion of the meta. (this doesn't rlly tell me anything significant and you explain this in better detail later on) Jellicent, being one of the best Pokemon in the tier is unable to be trapped due to Water Absorb (you should be talking about jellicent as a bulky water not how it can't be trapped, which can be covered earlier on. it's a ghost so water absorb doesn't matter regardless), and many Fighting, and Electric-types, like Primeape, Gurdurr, and Eelektross just outright beat Dewgong (make this more broad by just talking about how its bad defensive typing and passivity makes pulling off its niche extremely difficult). Dewgong can be somewhat usable on stall as a Perish Trapper, but even then there's no reason to use it over Pyukumuku, which is a stall staple that has a more valuable niche on stall as a trapper with Block, that can wear down opposing Pokemon with Toxic, punish set up sweepers with Unaware, and has extremely reliable recovery in Recover (this is a rlly big run-on sentence that can be boiled down to how pyuku is a more viable trapper bc recovery, unaware, pure water). Even with its near-exclusive niche, Dewgong struggles to separate itself from the competition it faces as a bulky water in the tier and as a result, should not be used over the Pokemon mentioned previously.

(talking about its bad defensive typing, no recovery and a negligible niche over its is competitors is fine but the info here tends to get excessive and some sentences add almost nothing useful.)

(Already said this)Dewgong can be somewhat usable ('somewhat usable' is still overselling it imo)on stall as a Perish Trapper, but Pyukumuku has a more valuable role on stall as a trapper with Block, that can wear down opposing Pokemon with Toxic, punish set up sweepers with Unaware, and has extremely reliable recovery (there's nothing called 'extremely reliable recover', its just 'reliable recovery')in Recover.
