ORAS OU Diancie and Friends (First team Im posting here be nice but help needed)

Hey guys! Whats going on? This is my first team I have ever posted here and I have only been playing competitive for a little under a year now so Im sure there is some stuff that I'm just missing that I was thinking you more experienced battlers may see.

The idea: Basically, this idea came from ShadyPenguinn on YouTube. A little while ago on his YouTube channel he had a Wi-Fi battle where he faced off against someone running a Mega Diancie. I knew this thing had some power behind it, but I was astounded after watching the video on how much it really has. So, I just had to try it for myself! This team basically revolves around Diancie or a couple of other common OU sweepers setting up and running through opposing teams.

Mega Diancie (Carbink...jk)
-252 Spa
-252 Spe
-4 Atk
-Nature: Mild
-Ability: Magic Bounce
-Item: (that one mega stone)
-Moonblast
-Diamond Storm
-Earthpower
-Rock Polish
As said above this team basically revolves around Mega Diancie setting up a rock polish and running through enemy teams with ease. These moves, although practically a staple move set, seem to give Diancie just the right amount of coverage to blast away its enemies with ease. Moonblast being STAB and having fairy typing needs very little explanation. Diamond Storm is STAB and adds physical coverage which can help against bulky walls that can't take hits from the physical end such as Goodra. (I realize Goodra isn't incredibly common but I just faced one in my last match and I feel its a good example.) Earth power is the most important move on the set as it allows Diancie to cover for its scary 4x steel weakness and kill common steel threats in OU such as Magnezone or Metagross both of which can't take two (let alone one). And finally Rock Polish gives Diancie that bit of speed it needs and allows it to outspeed everything I have battled against so far.

Thundurus-Incarnate (Cloud 9)
-252 Spa
-252 Spe
-4 Spd
-Nature: Timid
-Ability: Prankster
-Item: Leftovers
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power Ice
-Substitute
-Nasty Plot
Thundurus just seems to be one of those 'mons that has remained relevant and deadly ever since its creation in 5th gen. However despite its indisputable power, I find myself without a single team in which he is included. Me being a fan of the GBA, I saw that Mogwai (I think) had drafted him very early on and it reminded me that I need to hop on the band wagon and throw this guy onto the field for myself. With Thundurus covering 3 of Diancies weaknesses (steel, ground, and grass) and his special attack stat sitting at 349 with my set, he can tear through most teams after just one Nasty plot. Simply sub up on their switch/status and proceed to watch their tears stream onto their keyboard as they watch their team being dismantled.

Scizor (Slick)
-252 Atk
-248 HP
-8 Spd
-Nature: Adamant
-Ability: Technician
-Item: Choice Band
-Bullet Punch
-Bug Bite
-Superpower
-U-turn
Scissors just seemed to fit within the team. Its one weakness is covered by Diancie who absolutely loves to switch in on the likes of common fire pokemon in the tier (such as Victini and Talonflame) and obliterate them with a Diamond Storm. Just predict the switch right U-turn out and catch your opponent on the switch with a nice Rock Polish with Diancie. Despite him being the perfect bait Bullet Punch seems to really put the hurt on everything that doesn't resist it. Bug Bite is the most powerful STAB and can almost 2HKO the likes of even the thickest walls that don't resist (Hippowdon 40-48.5% and Ferrothorn 45.4-53.9%). U-turn as previously explained allows Scizor to bait in fire types and then get out of there so Diancie can set up and go. And Superpower is for the pesky Tyranitars and Bisharps which Diancie doesn't always enjoy the company of (especially in the sand).

Manaphy (Manny Fee)
-252 Spa
-252 Spe
-4 Spd
-Nature: Timid
-Ability: Hydration
-Item: Life Orb
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Hidden Power Fire
-Tail Glow
Manaphy is another one of those Pokemon I just never really got around to using. With it being the only competitively relevant Pokemon in OU to get the almighty Tail Glow, its no secret what this thing is gonna do the moment it switches in. At this point I realized despite me having the proper resistances for those pesky steel types I didn't really have anything to truly deal with them so thats where I began my search for a fire type. However obviously Manaphy is far from a Fire type (in fact its the opposite). So why is it here? This little thing got added to the team mainly because I wanted a fire type but I couldn't deal with the extra ground weakness because EQ spam is just too common in this meta. So I looked around and discovered that after a Tail Glow Hidden Power Fire may as well be stab with the damage it does to those who are weak to it. Too lazy to do calcs but you should just take my word for it ;). Surf is there for STAB and Ice Beam is there because basically a team without one of the genies nowadays is practically unheard of and as Im sure you all know, those things are straight up terrifying.

Landorus-Therian (JsOnMaFeet)
-252 Atk
-252 Spe
-4 Spd
-Nature: Jolly
-Item: Choice Scarf
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-U-turn
-Knock Off
Did I mention that the genies are good? If not this guy pretty much sums it up. Seems like there isn't a single team nowadays without this guy on it but despite my inner struggle to be a bit more original I just couldn't help myself. The Intimidate support is never a bad thing and this thing with a scarf can run in and out freely causing absolute madness for the other player as you Intimidate his whole team and cause him to shuffle up his team a bit. Earthquake is the main STAB and helps to deal again with those pesky steel types. Stone Edge is there to deal with what EQ can't in case of a late game situation where Diancie is long gone. U-turn is to force switches due to Intimidate and gain initiative for set up (which is basically what this team is set up to do). And finally Knock Off because I seemed to be lacking some Dark type coverage and you can never go wrong with Knock Off.

Chandelure (Rihanna)
-252 Spa
-252 HP
-4 Spd
-Nature: Modest
-Item: Air Balloon
-Fire Blast
-Shadow Ball
-Energy Ball
-Taunt
Well I guess I got my Fire type after all. This guys Spa is ridiculously high and his coverage was too good to pass up. I didn't gain a ground weakness for the most part however due to the Air Balloon which really helps out early game to catch my opponents off guard. Fire Blast is my main STAB and can devastate most everything that forgets just how powerful this thing is. Shadow Ball is more STAB and my Ghost coverage which I didn't have at this point. Energy Ball is for those bulky water types that get too cocky and stay in when weakened, and Taunt is so when and if I do lead off against a Pokemon like Ferrothorn, I can either Taunt and double out or just proceed to fire away and decimate that pesky Ferrothorn.

Well what do you think? I realize there are probably some flaws in my team and I could really use some help patching them up if possible. So please let me know in the comments how I did overall and feel free to leave some suggestions for my team and I will make sure to reply. I don't have a threat list but I do have a pretty cool Diancie sweep which pretty much shows ideally what a match is gonna look like with Diancie at the helm.

PS: I realise Im lacking all those fancy sprites that most of these threads have but again, this is my first post here so I haven't been able to toy around with this stuff yet. Hope you enjoy anyways though!

Hey, some quick things I would like to recommend while I have the time.

Firstly, run Pursuit > Bug Bite, as you already have reliable stab in U-Turn that provides great momentum, so bug bite really isn't needed. On top of that your team appreciates the trapping of Lati@s and things a like, as Scizor is the only Pokemon that can switch into two hits from them( unless hp fire). Secondly, use Energy Ball > Ice beam, as this allows you to hit water types like Rotom-W, opposing Manaphy, Slownbro and many more. You also really don't need ice beam as it shares the equal duty with HP fire, in removing grass types. Finally, I suggest running Focus Blast > Substitute, as it allows for an easier time dealing with fat steels like Heatran and Ferrothorn, which could put a waste to setting up a nasty plot. If you do decide to make this change, you could use Life Orb > Leftovers for the additional power when not accompanied by a boost.

Hope you were able to get something out of my rate and I wish you and your team the best of luck with future endeavours.

Hey there,
I recommend using a choice scarf on chandelure so that you are able to outspeed a large portion of the meta. Put trick on there to cripple stall and wall pokemon which other wise ruin your team's changes to sweep.

Chandelure (Rihanna)
-252 Spa
-252 HP
-4 Spd
-Nature: Modest
-Item: choice scarf
-Fire Blast
-Shadow Ball
-Energy Ball
-trick

If you do this, you might want to switch landorus' item for something else. I would suggest putting stealth rock on him and make it a defensive pivot, which can switch in with Intimidate and grab momentum with a slow u-turn (gives you more initiative). Sr, rocky helmet garchomp is also fun.

Landorus-Therian @ rocky helmet
EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 Spe
Naive Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Hidden Power Ice

You might want to add an easy import copy/pasty thingy.

Hope I helped you out:)

Hello TheSlowestOfBros and congrats on your posting your first RMT. I'm here to help you improve your team so lets jump right into it.
I'll go Pokemon by Pokemon:

  • First off Diancie, 3 Attacks protect is a better set than Rock Polish if you ask me. You'll want protect to be able to scout and Mega Evolve Safely. Diancie Is somewhat frail and by not running protect you'll be risking the chance of being OHKO'd the turn of the Mega. You'll also want 16 Attack EVs to be able to OHKO defensive Zapdos after taking SR(Stealth Rock) damage. Consider this set and spread instead:
Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 16 Atk / 240 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Protect

  • For Thundurus-I, I wouldn't recommend using this variant of Thundurus at all. It pales in comparison to it's other form. Here's some sets that you could use for it:
Thundurus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 64 Atk / 192 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
-
Thunderbolt
- Knock Off
- Grass Knot
- Superpower

  • This is a very efficient stall-breaking set but that's not the only thing it's great for. I walk you through each move and describe what it does. Thunderbolt is standard on every Thundurus no matter what, this is the STAB that you want in order to hit mons hard. Knock off is for Lati@s and disposing of Chansey's Eviolite. Knock off does a ton of more damage to the Lati twins than Hidden Power Ice will ever do(It should be an OHKO every time, unless they're running some Physically defensive variant). By knocking off Chansey's Eviolite, it'll lose it's boost in it's bulk allowing you to do a significant amount of damage to it with other attacks. Which brings us to our next move, Superpower. Superpower is fantastic for taking out Chansey, Blissey, Tyranitar and much more. It hits all of these Pokemon for SE(Super-Effective) damage. Here's some calcs to show you how much it does too Chansey with and without it's Eviolite:
64 Atk Life Orb Thundurus Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 354-419 (50.2 - 59.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
64 Atk Life Orb Thundurus Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chansey: 530-624 (75.2 - 88.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

  • As you can see you'll be dealing a great amount of damage to Chansey, especially with it's Eviolite gone. But beware, Superpower does lower your attack stat by one stage so it'll be doing less damage with each use, so try not to spam it too often. Now as for Tyranitar, It should be an OHKO every time no matter what spread they run(Given you get the correct roll). Superpower is hitting tyranitar for 4x damage which is twice as much damage than a regular Super-Effective move. You'll want to get rid of Tyranitar because of it's ability to take out Thundurus with one Stone Edge or with a Pursuit as you switch out trying to avoid taking a hit from it. Here's a calc to prove how much damage Superpower does:
64 Atk Life Orb Thundurus Superpower vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Tyranitar: 364-432 (90.3 - 107.1%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

  • As you can see, even with max defense and near max hp Investment you'll still have a chance to OHKO. Though this spread isn't very common so expect an OHKO every time. Onto our final move, Grass Knot. Grass knot is for hitting Mega-Swampert and Quagsire. That's all it really is for, Quagsire is most commonly ran on stall which again is why this set is a Stall-Breaking set. They'll switch Quagsire in on a Thunderbolt expecting it to be safe and then you can take it out with a Grass Knot and just like that you're one step closer to the win. Here's a calc to display the damage:
192 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Grass Knot (80 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Quagsire: 598-707 (151.7 - 179.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

  • That just about wraps up that set, now onto our second set:
Thundurus @ Leftovers/Life orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice
- Focus Blast/Nasty Plot

  • This is the standard Prankster set. With Prankster this Pokemon's non-damaging moves has it's priority increased by 1. This mean's you'll be able to fire off A Thunder Wave before fainting in order to slow down the opposing Pokemon. Thunderbolt, as I mentioned before, Is standard on every set. Hidden Power Ice to hit Ground Types such as Landorus and Hippowdon. It may also be used to Hit the Lati@s(Latios and Latias) but it'll be much weaker. Nasty plot is for boosting your special attack if you want to sweep late game and Focus blast is for hitting things such as Ferrothorn, Chansey, Excadrill etc.

  • Now onto scizor. I'm sure you are already aware of what Scizor does so I won't get in-detail as I did with Thundurus:
Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit

  • Having Pursuit over Bug bite is definitely necessary considering that you already have a strong bug STAB which is U-Turn. Pursuit allows you to take down Lati@s with ease. Though, be wary of Hidden Power Fire which is ran on some sets these days. Every thing else is standard, Bullet Punch for priority and fairies, U-Turn to be able to pivot and have a powerful bug STAB and Superpower to hit Ferrothorn and Heatran. Now time for Manaphy.
Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Fire]/Psychic/Energy Ball
- Tail Glow

  • Manaphy is excellent right now and this set is fantastic. Manaphy can be a great late game sweeper(Or early game if you get the proper opportunity to set up an Tail Glow). You can change the set up a bit depending on your personal preference. Scald Is standard, it's Manaphy's most reliable STAB. Ice Beam is for hitting Dragons such as Garchomp and the Lati twins and can also be used for Gliscor and Landorus. Only use Ice Beam over Scald if you're facing an opposing Dragon-type(Dragons resist scald because it's a Water-type move) or if you want to hit something for 4x damage instead of 2x. Hidden Power Fire can be ran to take out Ferrothorn which can stop Manaphy's sweep depending on how healthy it is. Psychic is used for hitting things like Mega-Venusaur, Keldeo and Amooguss, and Energy ball is used for hitting bulky water types such as Mega-Swampert, and opposing Manaphys. Tail Glow is ran on just about any set, it's how you initiate your sweep. It'll boost your special attack by 3 stages(x2.5). Now time for your item, you'll want Leftovers over Life Orb to increase Manaphy's longevity. It doesn't need the extra attack boost from Life Orb considering that Tail Glow will boost it's attack enough, also LO(Life Orb) wears down Manaphy and you generally want to avoid that.
That's all I have for you as of now. Your last two Pokemon(Landorus and Chandelure) look fine. Maybe consider running max speed on Chandelure over max hp but that's up to you. Speed is much better on Chandelure though so I'd recommend changing that set. I'll let you know if I can think of any other ways to improve your team. I hope I helped!
