Distrurbing tendencies in DP battles.

My problem is that Mixed sweepers tend to need to stick with either Life Orb, which handicaps their durability, or Expert Belt, which just lacks oomph. Noir and Cress wall them pretty easily even without splitting EVs, and Burn + Life Orb is serious damage without you even doing anything, moreso if you had Stealth Rock up.

Oh, and whenever I switch in my big physical attackers in on Blissey or Cress, I tend to get paralysed. Know how useful a paralysed sweeper is? Not very.

Try Electrivire. >_>

Try Lum Berry.

If you dont want to get in a stall war with someone, then dont stall. Why don't you actually give the hyper offensive pokemon that everyone talks about a try. How bout using attacks like swords dance and nasty plot on something that isnt Garchomp?

Most people expect Choice item pokemon and garchomp to be the hardest a team can hit. It's using those type of pokemon as your only offense, ones that have a choice band or a quad weakness, that makes it so advantageous to use walls that rely on x4 S/E hits to deal damage and stall with SR and spikes.

Good thread btw, I'm getting really sick of everyone saying how the DP metagame is so fast and hard hitting, thats utter bullshit by people who dont play wifi regularly.

Lum only works for one turn though in which it is very hard for a sweeper to take down Cresselia or Blissey. Personally Im more scared of Donphan/Hippopotas which completely wall Phys sweepers not named Gyarados.

Well t isnt that bad..

When walss are oming it is kind a predictable...

Also cary a mixed sweeper....like Chain Chomp and Infernape

Hippowdon walls even Gyarados though >_>

Seems mixed sweepers is the general reply to how you get down walls, I guess every team needs a good CBPursuiter to kill her as well?

Alternativly, you can use a male attractor, as both Blissey and Cresselia are always female... :P

Lum isn't an option if you have Life Orb, Choice or Expert Belt on your sweeper, which I'm imagining most non-status boosters do.

And Attract is no good, everyone knows all the pro walls pack Destiny Knot for this very scenario :(

This is the reason I'm playing BL/UU. With the best things banned, everything has a better chance. With no PZ specsmence and zelf, this means other special walls actually can work. It's just more balanced. But that's just my opinion
Its not just your opinion, from my own experience you see some far more interesting match ups in the UU/BL environment.

UU in itself is massively varied and much bigger which makes everything viable and throwing in the BL's keeps the environment lively without letting it degenerate into BP stall wars which is the only danger in UU.

There's one wallbreaker that doesn't need to be mixed, or use choice items to do its job: Glaceon
Just use fake tears and ice beam/shadow ball walls into oblivion XD
Actually its been done... Advance Magneton. The original set would run Metal Sound to scare Blissey's out of their wits and if you switched you'd take one heck of a STAB Thunderbolt. Its nothing new.

Its alot easier now too with the advent of Nasty Plot.

I've found lum berry/substitute to be a good combo. stat up, they try to cripple you with a status and fail, then you use substitute while they try to status you again and again fail, giving you 2 chances to stat up or to attack twice with one stat up. Lum berry may only work for one turn, but one turn is usually what decides whether a pokemon sweeps or is crippled by status.

I'm not suggesting lum berry over life orb on everything. I'm saying it's an option that you should consider, taking into consideration how much damage your sweeper does after a stat up, and how likely it is to get statused(based on its counters), and how badly that status will hurt your chances to sweep.
