This is a Partial Rewrite of an on-site analysis. The overview, other options, and checks and counters sections are outdated due to the format being outdated (i.e. this will be better using the current mini-analysis format). Ergo, we intend to revamp these sections and nothing else, as the rest of the analysis is of good quality.
[OVERVIEW]
Ditto's only move is Transform, which makes it unique as the only non-Uber Pokemon that can learn it in RBY. Transform allows Ditto to change into the opposing Pokemon, enabling it to use its foe's moves—though with just 5 PP each—and copying all of the defending Pokemon's stats except for HP. However, since Ditto's Speed is rather bad, it usually takes a hit before using Transform, and with that bad HP stat, it may not be able to pull anything off. This relegates Ditto to mostly being a novelty Pokemon.

[SET COMMENTS]
Transform is unaffected by accuracy and copies the foe's stat boosts, but unfortunately, Ditto only ends up with 5 PP on each move. However, if it switches out and then back in, Ditto will get 5 more PP of each move. This makes Ditto useful in a situation where a Pokemon is not doing a lot of damage or it can be brought in for a chance to get off a free Transform, such as when an opponent's Pokemon is asleep or frozen. That's about it for Ditto, though; if you start PP stalling an Amnesia user such as Poliwrath, you could steal its stat boosts at a point where it has less PP left than Ditto by switching to Ditto as it uses Rest, muscle past it, and sweep. There are lots of extremely circumstantial situations like that, but unfortunately Ditto is not of a great deal of use generally.
Also, it is interesting to note that Ditto keeps its poor native critical hit rate of 9.37% after it uses Transform. Furthermore, and that any Attack, Defense, and Special changes due to Transform are ignored because critical hits use a Pokemon's original stats; as a result, this will severely lower Ditto's damage output. For the most part, anything in the UU metagame will beat Ditto. It really can't take a hit with base 48 base across the board.

Basically just reworked this to be in the current UU mini format. Made some changes as to what sentences go where (as in first paragraph of set comments turning into the overview, old overview sentence going at the end of current interview), fixing some known grammar here and there (such as improper use of "you" and the like, I'm not a g/p expert though obviously). Only thing I really added was "such as Poliwrath" to the point about PP Stalling Amnesia users since this is a UU analysis.
