So I was in the middle of testing and equally genius team on the Shoddy ladder, when someone had the stones to challenge what could possibly be the greatest team. EVER. Readers beware, as the upcoming struggle contains possibly more action then pokemonly possible. Names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Alchemy sent out Wobbuffet (lvl 100 Wobbuffet ?).

Cresselia used Toxic.
Wobbuffet was badly poisoned!
Wobbuffet used Encore.
Cresselia got an encore!
Wobbuffet is hurt by poison!
Wobbuffet lost 6% of its health.

I'm confused. Why didn't you just switch out that last turn and save your Wobbuffet? Shadow Tag doesn't stop your Wobby from switching out.

Why do you even post?

When I first read this I thought it might have been a clever way to say "Wobbufett is broken", but I actually thought this was a better argument for species clause being necessary. It was a funny read, but overall more of a joke than a warstory. Wobbufett leading is actually a strategy I was thinking about implementing on shoddy (till I breed one). It basically cancels out the opponents strategy for starting the game and makes them think on the fly. Unless of course your opponent is by some miracle leading with Toxic-Cress. Wobbufett should be allowed in OU, but six Wobb's is just to much.

I think you need to change your team around a bit so that you don't get swept by anything with Toxic.

Try this in your team somewhere.

Wobbuffet @ Choice Scarf
+Spe nature of your choice. (Jolly or Timid)
252 Spe, 188 SpD, 68 Def
Mirror Coat/Counter
Encore
Charm
Safeguard

These EVs let you hit 271 speed, which lets you outspeed most widely used statusers (barring opposing Scarfed dudes, and many sleep leads - but that's not really the type of status you're worried about.), and even allows your team to survive being slaughtered horribly by an Adamant CB Heracross Megahorn, since you outspeed even max speed variants (which hit 269) with Charm which, with these EVs, allows you to survive 100% of the time (just barely), and lets you get a second Charm off so that you can revenge kill him safely with another Wobb's Counter.

Ah ha ha, great warstory. Reminds me of all the people who scream that the blue blob is uber. I was surprised that the leading Wobbuffet wasn't carrying a Lum berry, it would've saved you a bit of trouble.

Wobbufett leading is actually a strategy I was thinking about implementing on shoddy. It basically cancels out the opponent's strategy for starting the game and makes them think on the fly. Unless of course your opponent is by some miracle leading with Toxic-Cress.

A starter with Taunt/Roar pretty much nullifies that strategy (Tauntdos or Aerodactyl anyone?). If you're not carrying Lum berry either, Gengar and other fast sleepers put Wobb out of commission as well. I find that he's currently much better at encore trapping than doing anything else in the metagame. At best he's good at allowing one of your sweepers to set up for one turn.
